The house of Hornblower is an artistic halfling family of Kintargo. Many famous entertainers, painters, and sculptors have come from that family, including Pansy's mother, Daffodil, a famous opera soprano. Pansy's inclinations were always more free-style than operatic, so although she inherited her mother's soaring voice, she preferrs to sing in taverns and more casual, personal venues. In keeping with her free spirit, she frequently dyes her hair a different color to match her mood. She has to this point always stuck with a natural color, but has been edging closer and closer to more vibrant, but unnatural, colors.

Although now an adult, she still lives with her family as she hasn't found anyone else she'd rather live with yet. It may become difficult to stay with her family, however, as the situation in Kintargo devolves. Always gifted with not just a beautiful voice but also the ability to use words and create lyrics, lately, she has been using the latter gift to entertain the crowds with carefully crafted satirical commentary on the political situation in Kintargo and Cheliax.

While at a service for Shelyn one day, Pansy and Fredrick were talking about a mutual acquaintance who was supposedly a member of the Silver Ravens and has been seen or heard from in days. They got worried and started looking for him, and were eventually contacted by someone who claimed to know someone who knew something, and one thing led to another. Now Pansy and Fredrick are attending the protest at Aria Park where they are supposed to meet a contact. They will recognize him because he'll be wearing one black leather glove on his right hand (hmmm, wonder if he is hiding a religious symbol also?), and no glove at all on the left.
