I'm working on building a strength based Gnoll Brawler with a whip. I'd like to get her into the Serpent Lash tree but am running into an issue. One of the prerequisites for Serpent Lash is Weapon Finesse. As a str build that feat is completely useless to me and as feat starved as I am I'm reluctant to take it.

Are there any alternatives?

I have an idea for a rather brutal fighter who specializes in tripping, and then proceeding to beat the stuffing out of foes as they hit the ground. The issue is as a medium character my foot damage is underwhelming. The only way I can think to increase her stomp damage is a bladed boot, but it's disadvantages make me reluctant to try it.

Anyone have any advice?

Recently a PC managed to lose a leg in a fight (Just above the knee) from a critical hit. I used the 2ed Player's option: Combat and tactics, Critical Hit Table for it and she had some rather unfortunate rolls. She was reduced to 0 HP and suffered severe bleeding. The tide of blood was stemmed and she was left in the negatives.

My current issue is that I can find no rules anywhere in any edition or rule set for recovering after losing a limb. It seems everyone assumes as soon as they're back at 1 HP they are fine and dandy. I'm by no means an expert, but it seems to me that someone would not recover so easily from that kind of trauma.

I'm wondering if any of you have seen any rules on that sort of thing. I also remember hearing from somewhere about reduced max HP until an amount of recovery time has passed, but that was years ago and I can't recall any details. Perhaps I'm being too strict, but I'd like to do this properly.

Keep in mind I'm not asking for things like minuses to skills as a consequence of missing a leg. There are clear rules on that as are with prosthetics. I am simply looking for rules on recovering and surviving the trauma.

Thanks in advance.
