About Osmundus Chamberlain
Osmundus was living outside of town, and selling beer. He was unlicensed, but didn't need a license, outside of town.
One of the local bigwigs stopped in on his way to a hearing in the forum, and bought an amphora of his best. He was passing it to the other bigwigs for brownie points...but one owned a brewery, and decided that Osmundus was competition he didn't want
That led to trumped charges, which sent poor Osmundus to prison.
The scholar was at the forum, and liked the beer, but when he tried getting some, it proved impossible...
...and we know the rest of the story...or significant parts, at any rate.
Osmundus, a simple, if very intelligent man, has not-so-simple enemies. And friends.
Now cleared of charges, Osmundus works as a brewer at The Golden Boar, an inn with a reputation for excellent food, drink, and service - not that he could afford to stay there - and lives in his leaky, drafty little shack outside of the city walls.
