Fluff:

--------------------------------------
Appearance:
--------------------------------------

Tall and broad, for an Oread, with red, mossy hair and beard. His face is worn with permanent laugh lines and his eyes glitter slightly in the light, accented by an emerald fleshgem replacing a missing incisor.
He's dressed in a leather coat with metal plates sewn in, clearly of Ifrit make, and carries a long, wickedly pointed hammer on his back.

--------------------------------------
Personality:
--------------------------------------

Smiling and gregarious, Obedie is usually extremely good natured. He's a simple person at heart and takes joy in helping others, though he can't stand being talked down to or treated as inferior because he doesn't know something. In battle, he becomes much sterner and his eyes cease to glitter entirely.

---------------------------------------
Background:
---------------------------------------

Background:
1: Born the son of a priest of the Grey Father
2: Left the north tribe to find work.
3. Never fights when he can avoid it.
4. Is bad at avoiding fights.

I wanted to expand on a single event in Odebie's background: When he was twenty his father took him north to see the oldest of the Quiet Elders. Venturing into the heart of the tree's roots, Odebie saw how the earth had risen up to infuse the wood and turned it hard as iron. He's carried that lesson with him since, and by reaching out to the Grey Father he is able to receive that same blessing, for a short time.

Secrets:
1: When he left the Quiet Elder he carried a piece of petrified wood with him; it forms the core of his holy symbol.
2: In his first ever fight he killed the other oread; he still feels terrible and has since worked to leash his temper.

People:
His father, Obedie, is a priest of the Grey Father and taught him about religion.
Chiten, his childhood friend, is a ranger that fights in the North.
Dariush is an Ifrit nobleman Odebie knows from work in Hearth; at the last Meet Odebie earned his ire when he held him accountable to the laws of the tribe rather than the laws of the cities.

Memories:
The first time he saw the Grey Fathers, and realized trees and stone were one and the same.
His first fight, the rush of anger and fear.
Walking into the city, surrounded by strange smells and noises and the press of people.

A more narrative background: Odebie was originally trained as a priest of the Grey Father but didn't take to it; after a fight gone bad in his youth he left his home tribe and worked as a caravan guard and guide for a few years. Eventually, he realized he was happiest when he was working at the Meets as a guard/troubeshooter and signed up with the Hearth city guard the next chance he got. That was a few years ago, since then he's helped keep the peace in oread neighborhoods and coached oread newcomers through life in the city.
