Sovereign Court

As a first level character I generally go with just the items that are essential to my role in the party. With a Vesk blitz soldier I decided the goal was to get through the first game then start filling out my gear set. But the one thing I always buy and keep on hand is candy for RP purposes you cant beat it. Now candy is never on the list of gear in any game I've ever played so I pay the equivalent of one weeks rations.

Tactical Dosko
Hidden soldier armor
Personal Comm
Semi-Auto Pistol
Personal Hygen kit
Field Rations
Candied bugs

Why are there any level 1 items on the chronicles sheets. Everything that is legal for society play is always available whethor it is on a sheet or not. It feels like the writer is trying to make sure "something" is on the sheet. I could understand if it was being offered at a discounted price but i have yet to see a discounted item on any sheet.

So first level computer techs can make cell phones :)

61. Change purse drop 10 coins in this ordinary looking pouch say the command word and pour out 1 coin of the next higher denomination, a different command has the reverse effect.
62. Sword of stupidity gives a to-hit and damage bonus equal to the inverse of the possessor’s intelligence score. Wizard with an 18 intelligence identifies it as a -3 cursed sword, fighter with 7 intelligence +3 sword woohoo!

RAW talks about "Stacking" I have never seen a rule about "Overlapping". Make him show you the rule that covers "overlapping" if he can't I would make him pick one or the other.

Personally I always make it a point to have the player show me the rule that specifically allows an action. Otherwise the answer is no you can't do that. Don't let the player say 'show me where it says I can't". There are an infinite number of things that are not in the rulebooks so the better decision is to only allow those that are in the books.

The Infusion text doesn't trump the text about extracts in general:

An extract, once created, remains potent for 1 day before becoming inert, so an alchemist must re-prepare his extracts every day.
Nowhere in the Infusion text does it state that the shelf life of extracts increases to beyond one day.

Ah good catch Mergy thank you. Seems strange that the chirurgeon's ability is worded the way it is.

If a player or NPC takes an Alchemist’s infused extract and never uses it does that mean the alchemist can never again use that extract slot? What if the Alchemist prepares all her extracts for the day as infused and they are all taken. This seems a bit harsh that a major class ability can be taken away so easily. This rule is implied in the description of the infusion discovery and confirmed in the chirurgeon ability. Is there a reason that an alchemist cannot choose to render an infused extract inert?

Infusion:
Benefit: When the alchemist creates an extract, he can infuse it with an extra bit of his own magical power. The extract created now persists even after the alchemist sets it down. As long as the extract exists, it continues to occupy one of the alchemist’s daily extract slots. An infused extract can be imbibed by a non-alchemist to gain its effects.

Infused Curative:
At 2nd level, a chirurgeon’s extracts of cure spells automatically act as infusions, and can be used by non-alchemists. When a chirurgeon prepares his extracts, he may choose to render any or all of his infused curatives inert and prepare other extracts to replace them (unlike infusions, which continue to occupy the alchemist’s daily extract slots until consumed or used).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have had this problem in the past. It was one player trying to be a jerk and a few other that jumped on his bandwagon just to make things difficult. I dropped a plotline on them all the non-good characters are recent convicts trying to earn a pardon, good aligned characters were sent by their church...ect. They were all escorted to a ruined castle by the local authorities "You are standing at the road leading up to the entrance to the ruined castle". Player- (jerk) " I turn around a walk away, I have no desire to assult the old creepy castle". There was a long drawn out conversation the the escorts. It was clear they wanted a sandbox game and were not going in.

At this point I put away my notes and said "well thats all I had prepaired anyone want to go see a movie".
