The product description hasn't been updated to reflect the expanded page count during the development cycle. It's almost twice as large as posted!

To answer that question... (and after a sneaky correction of the spelling of Treerazer in your quoted message)...

Awesome! Very cool insight into previous, pre-Pathfinder APs too!

The image link for Fantasy Grounds sends you to Hero Lab, and the Hero Lab link recursively sends you to a broken Paizo link.

Thank you for this. By bait and switch, I think of Extinction Curse where you think it's a circus related AP and it really isn't.

Ah; gotcha! That makes sense, and thank you for the example.

Curtain Call does not do a bait and switch. There's more story going on in this adventure path than "The PCs are hired to help produce an opera", but that is very much the main through line. A bit more in the spoiler for folks who don't want to know the pacing of how that goes out as far as the opera element is concerned:

** spoiler omitted **

I’m glad an example was provided. I was confused what this person meant too, but now that it’s more clear, I admit I’ve been upset at similar stuff in the past. For example, Book 3 of Second Darkness has sudden tone shift a long with many other classic 6 part APs.

I think this will all be resolved by moving to the 3 book AP. Creating a six-part thematically linked adventure that feels fresh each book could not have been an easy task. I do think, in some cases fear of things getting repetitive kept things from feeling as coherent as I would have liked.

For example, what was pitched to be the dragon AP , Age of Ashes, didn’t have enough dragons, in my opinion. I can get the fear of not wanting to just be repetitive (or cliche) and ending all 6 Age of Ashes book with a dragon boss fight, but I think the fact that APs take 2-3 years to finish was overlooked. 6 big dragon boss fights over that long a period would have made things feel tightly themed, not repetitive.

In any case, I think those days are behind us with 3 parters anyway. Everything seems to give you what’s on the tin much easier, and stay in theme beginning to end.

What is the quality of the B&G maps?

It actually depends on whether it's a Platinum, Gold, or Silver Edition. The Platinum edition box sets are better. They maps come in a separate art/scroll case, so they don't have creases in them. The Silver Editions are a bit more like the Paizo flip mats, but on thinner cardstock.

I would suggest watching YouTube unboxing videos of them to get an idea.

I keep hearing “people wouldn’t buy a deluxe set of battle maps in the hundreds of dollars range”, but the success of Beadle and Grim sets (such as their Curse of Strahd set which has the entirety of Castle Ravenloft) tells me there is a market for ridiculously sized, multipart battlemaps that cost hundreds of dollars.

I guess 5E may have a wider net, wherein that subset of players looking for deluxe battle maps may be larger…but I’m still not convinced that’s necessarily true. I bet a crowd funded deluxe set of a popular or iconic adventure would show there is greater interest in a deluxe box set (including full battle maps) than you’d think…

The big difference there is frequency. It's a one time purchase for a big Beadle and Grim set. I'm talking about the cost and load of folks having to spend hundreds of dollars a MONTH to keep up with an Adventure Path's maps. I don't expect even Beadle and Grimm could sustain that pace.

I might be wrong. I'd love to be wrong. But I'm pretty confident that Paizo's customer base wouldn't be into a subscription that costs hundreds of dollars a month.

I do agree with you that a box set for every adventure would be too much, but a greatest hit would be awesome. For what it’s worth, I did buy the Absalom B&G set, but I would have been way more excited for an Abomination Vaults, Kingmaker, or Rise of the Runelords set. One of these days I hope we get a super deluxe set of one of the APs or standalones.

I would drop $500 on an Abomination Vaults set with complete battle maps, or $250 on a deluxe module like this or Fall of Plaguestone if it contained B&G level maps, props, and handouts.

3) You could recruit a player to be the mapper. This is how things worked eons ago in the dawn of RPGs. The GM would describe the area, and a designated player would map it out on graph paper. If you have a player you trust to be able to keep player knowledge separate from character knowledge, you could even provide a copy of the map for them to reference during play and to draw out on the table. For someone who enjoys drawing and making maps, this isn't really a chore at all, and being chosen for that task by a GM can potentially make for a more engaging experience for that player.
I was totally that player! Now I'm the GM, so no one is stealing away my drawing duties. :P

My current conspiracy theory is that Paizo is testing the waters to potentially turn Adventure Paths into quarterly 192~256 hardcovers permanently.

Starfinder tends to be the place that Paizo first tests new concepts, which started the 3 parter adventure path trend. That line is now shifting to hardcover adventure paths. Seven Dooms had a hardcover equivalent. A standalone issue 200 was a good test product. The campaign setting products shifted to hardcover. And now the stand-alone adventure line is shifting to hardcover.

Stores tend to have an easier time selling hardcovers and they restock more often. 5E shifted to hardcover adventures some time ago for multiple reasons. Quarterly releases sell better. You don't compete against yourself with players buying only a select few of products. This was a huge problem with DND 3E and the relentless Forgotten Realms products. Buyers get fatigue and sales have a huge drop-off.

I think the Lost Omens line has sold a lot better since the shift to hardcover, over the 64 page softcovers of "Pathfinder Chronicles" and "Pathfinder Campaign Setting." (The product is better too in my opinion, it has less inconsistencies. The relentless releases of the previous line had more editing issues. It seems there was some lore that had less oversight since it was being hammered out so quickly.)

Paizo's current release format is a holdover from the APs basically being a Dungeon magazine replacement. They were a magazine company, but the market has moved on, and their place in that market has shifted.

Note: If you already own the Pathfinder Adventure Path #200: Seven Dooms for Sandpoint PDF, you may follow this link to purchase just the module for $19.99. If you do not own the PDF, it will be automatically added to your digital library when you purchase this Foundry module at its regular price.

Isn't working for me, despite having the adventure in my library.

When are the next APs and Lost Omens line getting announced? Wardens of Wildwood didn't even get announced. It just sort of showed up on the product page.

I'm really wondering what comes after Tian Xia in the Lost Omens line.

yes, the Leap is part of the High Jump or Long Jump so the boots would increase the distance still.

Yeah, that's how I would rule it but I wanted a second opinion :) You're burning a consumable to get the effect so it wouldn't be fair to the player to stack it on anything less than a crit fail. It's just one jump at the end of the day.

@Eoran I actually was asking about the lower-level versions. At high level PCs can make DC 30-40 checks quite easily so the whole discussion is kind of moot. Good point about them modifying Leap tho.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber

Thank you both for your answers! Do you get the distance increase the boots provide if you fail - but don't critically fail - your check to High or Long Jump? If so then I can see how the vertical distance increase has a point for anyone who has an Athletics modifier below, like, 25.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Starfinder Superscriber

So I'm trying to understand exactly how these work. Superficially, it looks like they give you a one action long or high jump with a distance boost determined by the boot tier (which is awesome), but I don't see anything in the write-up that suggests they free you of the need to make the associated athletics check. If that's the case, they very quickly become rather useless for low-level characters who won't be able to roll the numbers necessary to take advantage of the distance increases.

Here's the relevant bit of the boot text: "When you Activate the blast boots, you can High Jump or Long Jump, without the need to Stride first."

Now if you go look at the High Jump and Long Jump actions they say this:

High Jump: "You Stride, then make a vertical Leap and attempt a DC 30 Athletics check to increase the height of your jump. If you didn’t Stride at least 10 feet, you automatically fail your check."

Long Jump: "You Stride, then make a horizontal Leap and attempt an Athletics check to increase the length of your jump. The DC of the Athletics check is equal to the total distance in feet you’re attempting to move during your Leap"

I see nothing anywhere RAW that says the boots free you from the athletics check. Just that they remove the Stride requirement. Is this correct, or does using blast boots to Long or High jump also mean you automatically succeed at the check to make the jump in the first place?

Also, for boot-assisted Long Jumps, is the distance that determines the DC equal to the base distance or the distance + the boost from the boots? I assume it's the base distance and you get the boot boost for free - otherwise the DC gets so high it's not practical.

Did Aroden know about the Azlanti Star Empire? It seems like they undermine his claim to be the 'Last Azlanti' in anything other than a literal geographic sense. They're too far away to be relevant to anything on Golarion prior to the Starfinder era, but still.

Also do pureblooded Azlanti still have OP stats in Pathfinder 2e? It seems like that's been depreciated now that New Thassilon is around and people of that ethnicity are available as potential PCs.

I made some condition rings (a la the ones on Critical Role) for my Pathfinder 2e group. Figured I'd post a few of them here :)

The rings were printed on an Ender 3 using an 0.2mm nozzle and painted using Citadel paints. Colors were chosen to correspond to the Paizo condition cards.
