Emmanuel: I'm asking about it hitting allies, not about being an optional effect.

Pizza Lord: That interpretation contradicts the second clause. It seems to match RAI, to me, but I was wondering if there had been any developer statement or some analogous rule to back that up.

Cevah: That's obviously RAW. But it makes most of the first clause totally superfluous.

Xethik: Not true. The second clause also requires that a creature be affected by the spell (although it doesn't define the relevant spell type by itself, admittedly.)

Infectious Charms is an arcane discovery that allows certain single target spells to target a second creature if the first one fails its save.

RAW, if you use it, it affects the nearest creature to the first target. From the inconsistent wording, I'm not sure that's deliberate.

"Anytime you target and successfully affect a single creature with a charm or compulsion spell and that creature is within 30 feet of another opponent, your spell has a chance of affecting the second creature as well. As a swift action immediately after affecting a creature with a charm or compulsion spell, you can cause the spell to carry over to the nearest creature within 30 feet."

Does the RAW match the RAI? Any clues or clarifications out there?

Could you link me to those, by any chance?

Ahh, cool. Thanks.

So who can take this feat?

Hey, awesome guide, and very helpful as a new player.

Could you clarify why, under Roles for Familiars, you describe Use Magic Device as relevant only to Improved Familiars?
