Nole is a large, fit man in a green-grey cloak, black hair and a scornful mouth. He has a purposeful, upright movement about him. His gaze doesn't pierce - it gets bored with you before you've even opened your mouth. His eyes flit about, noticing some small flaw in you that points to some greater failure... at least in Nole's mind. He carries a massive hafted weapon on his back and a tell-tale pouch filled with magical odds and ends fits into his belt.
Nole wants nothing more from this backwater job than to hone his craft, increase his riches and glory, and of course stay alive. Anything that aids him towards his revenge, and his ascendance, will be employed.
Backstory:
Nole's mother Julia had died giving birth to him, and his nobleman father Joseph held Nole responsible for this. Suffice to say the relationship between the two is strained, and Nole's outlook on life isn't the nicest. Once he was able, Nole attempted to flee his home, but each attempt was thwarted - Joseph had a wizard in retainer, one Imeckus Stroon, who was adept at finding runaways, among other skills. Luckily for Nole, Imeckus was somewhat more compassionate than his employer, and provided a bit of a fatherly presence, along with some proper schooling.
Imeckus taught Nole most of what he knew and trained him in basic wizardry to the best of his abilities. Nole picked up most subjects - history, philosophy, linguistics, martial arts - with great ease, but he worked hardest on wizardry. Nole wanted to show up his father, who had never been able to do more than dabble in a cantrip. During these teachings Imeckus introduced Nole to Irori, and the teachings of Irori's various disciples. Nole realized that upstaging his spiteful, pathetic father had no meaning, that he ought to work hard and hone his skills for his own sake. No one else mattered, so long as he sought knowledge, respected history, and chased the ideal of self perfection. Perhaps one day he would stand beside Irori as his disciple. Perhaps one day he would take Irori's place, one way or another.
On the eighteenth anniversary of his mother's death, Joseph had no choice but to let his son go free, but not before he ordered Imeckus to commit one more disciplinary task. Imeckus was to mark Nole with a scar on his forehead that would permanently remain, as a reminder of Nole's responsibility. After all these years, Nole expected Imeckus to refuse, even if it would result in a breach of contract. Surely Imeckus would be willing to pay the breach penalty... No. He calmly conjured fires from the depths of the abyss, noting that the marking was superficial but lasting. Surely, it was. Nole knew striking back would be a death sentence, at least until he gained more power, political or otherwise. So he set out, weapon in one hand, spellbook in the other, to perfect himself to the point where he could kill them both with impunity.
Somehow, his adventures have led him to the Stolen Lands. That tale I leave to the director of fate.
