Background:

Bugs. From the impossible number of legs on a millipede to the iridescent wonder of a hornets wings, Niome was fascinated by them all. A tiny plethora of life constantly moving around us. How could people just ignore them? And when they finally did notice, why was their only reaction kill them with complete indifference or scream in horror and disgust?

An entomologists is what she'd be called in places of higher learning. In her home town though, she was just an embarrassment. Especially to her father. A shop keeper in a shop he didn't own, head of a small clan that didn't travel, that didn't own their land, and seemed perfectly fine by it.

His daughter was expected to be fine with it as well. But she wasn't. Furthermore, she didn't understand why anyone else could be either. Their very name came from being born next to a TREE in the backyard!

Inside her head she screamed in frustration while she calmly listened to customers prattle on about NOTHING. Every. Single. Day.

But she persevered. Behaving in every aspect of her life except her fascination with bugs. That wasn't enough for her father. Her painstakingly categorized collection was repeatedly destroyed. She was lectured and punished, ridiculed and grounded. All she dealt with with outward patience and clam.

Until the day the marriage was arranged.

NO! She was no longer calm. She was fury incarnate and she had enough. Niome of the clan of the backyard tree left home. Ran to be exact. With little more than the clothing on her body, a tiny bit of savings, and a dream. Well that and the name of a passing pathfinder that had found her fascination fascinating.
