Hi there old friends,

Or, are escalations here to stay?

If it were a possibility, what would you rather see?

I for one would like to see a few static camps throughout the map. There camps would be assorted high-level mobs that never disappear; maybe 4 or 5 spawns altogether. One thing about Pathfinder Online that I do not enjoy is the inconsistency of PvE which I find leaves people feeling baffled (what should I do? There are no T2 escalations and the other ones are BORING and offer little to no reward, so I'll just log off).

If there were actual static high level content I feel people would have something to focus on, plan for and fight over. Of course I'd really like to see dungeons but Goblinworks has stated that they will not be in anytime soon so I'd be content with a few permanent high-level spawns for now.

What say you?

I'm not worried about the January exp. Can I delete and remake?

Pretty please? :)

Is that quote true if I delete both my main and destiny twin and recreate?

I've been trying to run to Brighhaven to attend this weekend's events but I keep getting moved around by this spell, it was so annoying I eventually just logged out.

Please tell me this isn't working as intended? I'm on a brand new computer and yet it's still so glitchy and strange. I don't even know what's happening to my character?!

And they came a reaping...

Elysian, a small group of players focused on accomplishing considerable feats, is currently seeking worthy applicants.

Settlement: Talonguard
Alignment: TN
Website: Unannounced
Timezone: We play during Eastern Standard Time; Monday-Friday 8-12PM and various times during the weekend.
Roles Accepted: We are currently recruiting all roles other than pure-crafters. We will be a small group of no more than fifteen players so group symmetry is paramount and recruitment limited.

Purpose:
A small group of close-knit players that offer protection to the oppressed and swift justice to our opposition. Although Elysian will be PvP centered, we shall be quite accomplished in the sphere of PvE as well. Respect is a calling of ours and we shall offer nothing but reverence to those that oppose us.

Characterization:
We are the stoic, our disposition inscrutable, and wrath relentless. Take heed Golarion, for Elysian fathoms what lie beneath the mortal eye and our morality is ruled by no goddess. Demons laugh underneath the visage of benevolence, and goodness may be found in the most fearsome criminal. We are mindful of these simple truths and are cautious to confess an enemy. The kindhearted individual hath no reason to fear us, but woe to our adversaries, for our composed rage will not cease until vengeance has been realized.

Pre-Game History:
Pathfinder Online will be the birthplace of Elysian. But, do not let that notion lead you astray. Our members are hardened yet temperate and have been around in various gaming outlets for quite some time. We hope to make a positive mark in Pathfinder Online and are quite excited by Its potential.

Aside:
Come as you are. We are a unique bunch of individuals and welcome the odd and eccentric. Nonetheless, be warned, as our roster is limited and we are only awakened by the most combat-ready, fierce (yet elegant), PvPers. We are quite the private lot and will rarely involve ourselves in anything of the political nature.

Any players curious to learn more, private message Saiph.

Hello,

I'm looking for a guide to leveling/advancing my Cleric. Recently I switched from Wizard to Cleric and for some reason I'm having a much harder time figuring out how to level the Cleric than I did the Wizard.

It doesn't help that the feat requirements go off my screen making them completely unreadable or that my cleric spells do very little damage and take a large amount of stamina compared to my Wizard. :-)

Thanks in advance,

Saiph

EDIT - looking for an UPDATED guide, the guides I've looked @ have not been updated.

Good morning,

I've been contemplating for some time what race I shall make Buurz the Fishwife in game: A dwarf because they are short and plump or a human because Buurz is indeed a human. On doing some research into racial traits, it kind of hit me that dwarves, more than the other two races, have a higher disadvantage when it comes to being an adventurer. Now, these disadvantages are definitely small but the OCD in me cannot let me play a race that gives me three skills already in the negative (that have nothing to do with crafting) and very little bonuses to adventuring (when compared to the other races). It seems whilst the other two races have a proportional divide between adventuring and crafting bonuses, dwarves are left with a high intensity of crafting bonuses coupled with low to negative adventuring bonuses, no fun!

I was wondering if these racial traits are are set in stone or if they are eligible for alteration?

So, I actually played a Wizard this Alpha up to level 10; I don't think this role is for me. Cleric is my next hope, but I find myself confused on something: Crusader is a required feat to level up as a Cleric, which requires heavy armor for the keywords. But what about the Evangelist? Perhaps I want to go more of the healer or buffer type Cleric instead of being so melee focused, why do I have to waste points in Crusader?

TL;DR

Why is the Crusader feat mandatory for Clerics?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:

And now I also see the Glory domain is required to level also. I'm not sure I understand why as Sarenrae would be the deity I wish to worship and according to what I've read her designated domains in Pathfinder Online are Sun and Fire?

Color me confused.

Goblin Squad Member

Yup, ye heard me over there in Goblinworks land, wherever in the twelve hells that town be! Ye see, methinks me name don't quite work without "the Fishwife" ye know what me mean? Hath ye lot thought this through? Me Goatie's perty eynes fill with watery tears just a'ponderin' of me patrons calling simply "Buurz." Erewhile me heart been so calm, yet now me seem to be getting the flutters. Just the green 'ye know, not me nerves. Nerves of steel me has!

OOC:

Will there be a way for characters, such as Old Buurz, to have three words for a name? Maybe something we can buy in the item shop....or something the GMs can bestow upon players that desire this? This is the first time I've posted OOC using my Buurz the Fishwife character, as this is very important to me!

Thanks for reading,

<takes a swig of her mead>

Any of ye wanna purchase me magical brew? Best in the land, yup, it be!

MARKETPLACE HOUR – An idea on getting the community to interact.

There were games in the past that really had magic in regards to their marketplace/bazaar/etc system. For example, in early Ultima Online scribes, alchemists, tailors, blacksmiths, bowyers, carpenters and tinkers would all be yelling aloud outside the Britain bank describing the goods they were selling (or trying to sell) to passing patrons. It was a pretty magical feeling to move your character into these locations and really feel the energy of other players resonating through your monitor, oh yes I’m a nerd! And as a nerd, I’m sad to admit that the magic has flickered out.

Anyhow, I had an idea of Pathfinder Online including something like a “marketplace hour” where, for an hour a day (number of occurrences and length to be adjusted), all marketplaces in every settlement (or perhaps a few main marketplaces) grant a bonus to the merchants and patrons inside them that promotes player interaction.

For example:
I’m a tailor, selling high-quality wizard robes for 100 coins. Well, if I’m present in the market during “marketplace hour” my goods sell to patrons for 50 coins instead, but when purchased, I am still rewarded 100 coins even though the patron paid only 50 coins.

This bonus would obviously give incentive to both players and merchants to interact during this time and could possibly create a really cool “marketplace feel.”

What do we think? Is this even possible? I’d love to hear everyones' idea on this or even ways to tweak and/or improve it.

Anyone need to get rid an account? My dad wants to try Pathfinder Online with me and before I go buy another account from Goblinworks I thought I'd try here as I'd like Destiny's Twin for my alt.

Thanks in advance!

Deities in roleplaying games have always interested me and a lot of my weekend was spent staring at the computer screen absorbing all I could of Golarion's higher powers. Nethys, Sivanah, Sarenrae and Pharasma thus far have sparked my interest and I'm curious to know which celestial being you all find yourself (or your character) gravitating towards and the reasoning behind the decision.

I love the mystique behind Sivanah and Pharasma, there is something good, yet dark and demure at the same time; the duality is appealing. Sarenrae speaks to the protector within whilst Nethys reminds me that we all are both innovative and destructive.

Currently I'm leaning towards Sarenrae or Sivanah, what about you all?

Good afternoon,

This might have been already discussed, if so I apologize! I'd like to know the viewpoint of Goblinworks on how healing will work in Pathfinder Online. Will all characters have some type of heal or the potential to get a heal spell/ability if desired? Or will it be more akin to a World of Warcraft type setup that allows only healing classes to have healing spells and abilities?

In Ultima Online for example, a grandmaster (maxed out skill level) mage had access to heal spells, or they could even train the healing skill to be able to bandage themselves. Will Wizards in Pathfinder be able to heal themselves or allies or both? Or will those types of spells be only found on Clerics, etc?

Also, does Goblinworks plan on including ranged heals? If so, on what classes?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure this has been brought up before but I couldn't anything so I apologize.

What does Goblinworks plan on including in PO to make the world breathe life? I'd love to see animate objects like moving windmills or flags blowing over settlements. I'd also like to see critters such as stray cats and dogs walking around settlements and deer in the wild.

These are just examples of things I believe bring life to a game and I'd love to see more ideas and/or confirmations on what the developers already have planned.

Cheers~

Wow, I had no idea this game is going to have full loot pvp. I'm really excited now, especially in a tab target game. I tried Mortal Online and Darkfall, but didn't enjoy the combat. I think this is exactly what I've been looking for. Can't wait!

I second this. It is interesting that all of the action type games out there have pretty much failed, yet people want this to be twitchy also. I'm so glad it is going the more traditional way. For the people judging the combat based on the last video; the game isn't even in ALPHA yet, get it? You should be applauding the openness as it is people like you that keep games from showing in game footage until they're practically released.

I'm so glad there are people on other forums defending and praising Pathfinder Online. :))

I have many questions... There are a lot of opinionated people on these forums and sometimes I find it hard to differentiate opinions from fact. These questions are mainly focused on what "settlements" in Pathfinder Online really are and how they affect a players game life. So, here it goes:

Will most settlements (or all of them) consist of one, or many different guilds? If I am an unguilded, lawful good player does my "joining" of a settlement mean I'm now under the control of a ruling guild? To make it easier to understand, can I join a player run settlement and keep to myself or will I be giving up my individuality by doing so?

Will I be able to have my own house in a settlement where my goods and valuables are accessible to only me?

What if I find a guild that belongs to another settlement that represents my ideals more? Do I have to become a citizen of the settlement they call home to become eligible to join their guild? Or can guilds only belong to one sole settlement?

Do you feel that the inclusion of settlements will limit player interaction? For example, I'm a merchant with goods for sale, will I find it difficult to sell my goods in other settlements? Would that not limit my interaction with the player base and thus have a negative impact on the game as a whole?

If I am a lawful good cleric belonging to Settlement A, and I run into a lawful good paladin from settlement C (that I am not at war with) may we join a group together? Enter each other's settlements to deposit our booty?

I have plenty more questions but these will do for now...

Just curious as I'm very interested.

One thing that I loved about Ultima Online was that many npc cities available for a player to socialize with other players, sell goods or run errands. In Darkfall, a game that focuses on settlements like Pathfinder, places like this didn't exist and the only people you really interacted on a social level were the people of your clan/settlement. I feel like this had a negative impact on the game and community.

What elements will Pathfinder Online include to create a social atmosphere to players of different settlements?

Goblin Squad Member

It has been a super long time since the last Kickstarter. I, with working two jobs, missed both of them! Boo! But, now I'm more than ready to support this game as I find it quite intriguing. When will you let me be your sugar daddy Goblinworks, hmmm?

For writers and readers to share and tell stories? If any of you know a specific website or organization that encompasses this I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Goblin Squad Member

I'm just trying to rationalize why you would make threading powerful enough to dilute the armor/weapon economy? Why not reduce the maximum amount of items allowed to be "threaded" instead? I believe that could possibly solve the issue.

Maybe I am not understanding the core ideals of the game - will players really be able to thread every single piece of armor they are wearing? If so, why? In my opinion that seems to create more problems than solutions. If you are going to wear a powerful piece of armor that gives you a slight advantage over another player, in my opinion, you shouldn't always be guaranteed to keep it when slain because you can thread a large number of items. Doing so takes risk and reward out of the game which in turn seems (again, in my opinion) to water the game down a bit.

I hope you consider some of these things before solidifying your decision on the said topic.

PS - please don't use the dreaded purple scale to define item quality :)

Goblin Squad Member

If an ungeared pk died trying to kill you with nothing on him the game system should withdraw a certain amount of currency from his bank account and leave it on his husk. If he had no money in his bank, it should be from his other character's bank. If they have money it should from any other account the primary's credit card is associated with. If there are no funds to be located that character should go in the negative in his or her bank and not be able to log on to another character until the debt is paid.

Goblin Squad Member

I apologize if this question has already been answered in the past but I can't seem to find a definite answer.

What exactly is a Hex? Furthermore, What do they bring to Pathfinder Online, and how will they be implemented?

Thanks in advance!

Goblin Squad Member

In my opinion, Customization is one of the most important aspects of a multiplayer game. I would love to have the ability to color my clothes how I see fit for my character and my personality. Emblems are also an important feature to the guild system that I hope is implemented on release. Looking and feeling different from other players and guilds is imperative to me as a player.

Have these issues been confirmed or discussed?

Goblin Squad Member

Will I be able to place a personal house out in the wilderness without it being in a player settlement?

Goblin Squad Member

Will we be able to tame animals/beasts in the wild? Or will pets be more like they are in WoW where they are bound to the player and can be remade once defeated?

I am quite curious about this!
