I curse as I'm pushed back into the air and I feel a chill spreading over me. I snarl, trying to remember if I've heard of anything like this as I send another blast of energy at the creature.

We're having company so my posting will be reduced to posting once a day, if that for the next 5-7 days. Sorry for the inconvienence.


I swoop about 50 ft above the creature and let loose a blast of black arcane energy.
Initiative: 17 (8+7+2) Attack: 22 (14+6) Damage: 21 Can I see any bodies?


I stare forward for a moment and furrow my brow concentrating. A shroud of black shadow surrounds me and forms into wings as I leap over the edge of the ship after telling the captain to hold his position for a short while. I soar across the plateau and circle the burning fort, looking for anything important.

I smile thinly "Hmm. We seem to have different approaches to magic, perhaps we shall someday see which is stronger."


Lounging in the shadow of a wall I nod, unsmiling to the newcomer.
"I am Myrkar. You say you're a practicioner of the arcane arts? I myself am a disciple of eldritch power. What branch of the art do you study?" I ask, trying to size this newcomer up.


No problem. School started a week ago for me so I'm busier too. I'll be away from home for the rest of this week, although I should still have internet access.

So LAtM only has a few months to go?


As I understand it we're all supposed to level up. We've just finished the side quest and are now proceeding on our original mission.


Once the gnome's told us what the items are I pick up the amulet and examine it, saying "If no one minds I'd be interested in this amulet. I doubt any of ou can use it anyway, as it only empowers the kind of magic that I use."


Fine with me. I have no attachment ot furs.


Leveling complete. Is it alright if I work up some new stuff (Invocations and mabye a PrC and a few feats) for Myrkar? There aren't a lot of PrCs that fit my concept, although alienist is close.
During the trip I shut myself in my cabin most of the time, emerging only to talk with the gnome, asking him to identify what we've found and also asking him to tell me of anything that might interest a student of the Arts in the wider world. Occassionally the smell of strange incense and the sound of chanting can be found to emanate from my cabin.


"Stop whining. Some of these items have a powerful magical aura about them. This ring for example..." I say as I pick the ring up and dust it off, examining it for any clues as to its origin and function. I scan the room for anything of further interest but am too focused on the ring to notice anything.

"I don't know. It looked like it was just absorbing the magic but I'll take anotehr look." I say as I look at the doors again with my arcane sight and try to determine the answer the his question.

I sigh and say "Yes, there might be magic in the bags but the bags themselves are magical. They allow you to carry more than is usually possible in a backpack." as I look through the bags with somewhat more delicacy than Dahak.

It was on the door. Knowledge (Arcana) 15 (10+5) on the bags.
"Everyone get away from the door! My spell revealed that it looks like the door is sucking magic into itself from our possession and those bags!" I say as I step a few feet back and then begin to study the bags.


"I don't think that the door was meant for the hydra. I'm guessing that the hydra was a guardian of some type and was never intended to use the door." I look at the door to see if I can find anything useful or remember anything from my arcane studies about such doors. After a moment of looking I concentrate for a moment with closed eyes and then look around again.
Search 20 (18+2) Knowledge (Arcana) 13 (8+5). Using my Detect Magic special ability.


I sigh and follow the warforged, looking around at the cave for anything of interest.

Seeing Revan take out the flasks of Alchemist's Fire I nod and say "Yes, thats an excellent idea. We should do this with haste before the creature regenerates."


You just can't get good help these days. Someone's always lying on the ground bleeding instead of being useful!


I presume that the wand is CLW? If so I heal 8 points of damage. Dahak, you made me laugh with that.


"Than hand it to me! Hopefully I can figure it out." I shout back.
Presuming that he tosses the wand back to me:
I examine the wand for a moment and then hold it over the incapacitated ninja, muttering "I hope I can remember how to work these." before attempting to activate the item.

I raise an eyebrow when Dahak starts singing while pulping the remains of the beast. "Destroy all of the heads and then cauterize the necks so they can't grow back. Oh, and we should probably heal the ninja." I say as I look around the chamber.

"Does anyone have a means of curing the ninja?" I shout as I step back from the beast.


I have a +12 in Use Magic Device.


"Aim for the heads!" I shout again and move back another 20ft. Once I'm a safe distance away I invoke another blast of Eldritch fury.
Eldritch Blast 14 (7+7) 15 pts damageIf that would provoke an AoO than I tumble out of its space and make a double move action to move 30ft away from the creature after I tumble. Tumble 16 (13+3). If this is so than I'll make the attack next round.


"Aim for the heads! We need to cut them all off in rapid succession!" I shout.


Walk Unseen ends as soon as you attack. As long as this creature isn't immune to sneak attack (and sudden strike) than you should be able to get the extra sudden strike damage.
Iniative: natural 20 Woot!

I spring back in surprise as the thing bursts out of the water and instantly begin to summon the eldritch power that infuses my soul. I appear about 15ft back from my former position and let a lance of eldritch power fly towards the thing that attacked us.
Using my eldritch blast Touch Attack: 21 (13+7+1 point blank shot) Damage: 18 Stepping 15 ft back and the using my invocation, ending Walk Unseen for me. I like the pictures better than the dots, easier to keep track of.


Yes, we are all invisible.
I say "I have another invocation that we might find useful in this situation. It will allow us to see in any darkness, even magical ones." I briefly touch my eyes with my left hand and immediatley the area becomes clear as day to my sight. I proceed to do this to the rest of the group.
I'm using my Devil's Sight invocation.


"Yes, we are still here and still would appreciate your leading us to this dragon. Here, we should tie ourselves together with rope so that we don't get seperated." I say and dismiss the invocations. Then I get some rope and tie it around my waist and hand it on to the warforged. "Once we're all tied together I'll use the invocation again.


"No it doesn't hurt. Here." I say and then begin to mutter something under my breath. Then I lay a cold hand across Revan's face and he shimmers for a moment before fading entirely from view. "I can do that to all of us. It'll take a few seconds to do all of us but not long."
Using my Walk Unseen invocation on Revan. I'll use it on the warforged and then myself. Have I noticed the ninja? What is the halfling's reaction to all of this?


"Wait, I may have an invocation that can aid us in going unnoticed. It will allow us to become invisible for some time. Sir, (addressing the halfling) about how long of a journey is it to this dragon's lair?"
I ask, keeping stride with Dahak, the halfling and Revan.


Don't look at me, I'm warlock not a doctor.


"I have learned that it is best to assume the worst. To lessen dissapointment it is often best to lessen expectations. I have some skill in diplomacy so if it was required that someone talk to a dragon I could manage it. Also, not all rewards are gold and jewels. Treasure comes in many forms; a powerful ally, a reliable friend, a useful connection. All of these are of equal if not greater value than gold. If the dragon is this 'Zeranthex' of which you speak then perhaps I will find a new friend and a dragon could teach me many secrets. If it is another dragon that is friendly than still, perhaps another ally. If it is a hostile dragon I would have no issues slaying it nor any issues with fleein, should it be beyond our capabilities. It occurs to me that you know my name but I don't know either of your's?" I say, still smiling.


I follow at a discreet distance behind the warforged and the human, listening to their conversation. I roll my eyes at the humans pathetic attempts at lies. "How inept. He couldn't tell a convincing lie if his life depended on it. Still, the other one seems rather too perceptive for my taste. I'll have to watch him, as well as what amount of the truth that I tell in his presence." I think to myself as I close the distance between us.
"I was merely walking on this pleasant evening and I could not help but overhear your conversation. I would like to offer my services om such a task. I have no small amount of talent with Eldritch magics and the rewards of defeating a dragon could make it worth my while." I say ina friendly voice. I extend one of my pale, long-fingered hands to the human and offer a respectful bow to the warforged "I am Merillias Davith, master of eldritch powers and secrets."

"I will stay here until the airship leaves. What information do you have on the attacks? Do you have any idea who the attackers are or where they come from? What about their motivation?" I say, watching the man's face for any trace of lies.

"I apologize that we interfered in an operation of the guard and caused the death of some of the good captains men, it was not out intention. I would find assisting the good people of this town infinitly preferable to being executed, as I assume you anticipated. What would this job entail?" I say as I take a seat at the nearest table and gesture for the man who is speaking to join me.


I roll my eyes slightly when Jebadiah calls himself 'Captain Justice'. "What have I gotten myself into this time? A barbarian warforged who serves a dragon and an insane man with delusions of granduer. Wonderful. I think as I try to keep my expression as convincing as possible.


Do they know that it was me who animated the undead?
If so:
I step forward and say "I apologize for this disruption of your watch and your town. I am merely a traveler passing through. I was staying at this inn for the night but these people (gesturing at the bodies of the thugs) came in and begin attacking people. I defended myself the only way I am able. I apologize for the things that I animated attacked you. When you burst in I thought that you were reinforcements for the thugs and would attempt to harm. But none of your men were hurt so I offer to make reperations."
Diplomacy (untrained) 16 (13+3)
If they didn't see me:
"Thank you for saving me! These thugs came in and started killing people! I hid as best I could and when that weird darkness came up I started for the door to escape. I thought that you were reinforcements for the thugs. I'm just a traveler who was staying here for the night." I say all of this while snuffling with feigned terror.

I roll underneath the nearby table as the I hear the sounds of the guns firing but I'm too slow to entirely avoid injury. As I crouch under the table I begin to formulate a plan. I Begin to tentitvly move towards the door, following the wall. My minions should be able to keep them occupied for a while, particularly with the help of the magical darkness. If I can sneak out of the door then I should be able to leave this place, never to be seen again by these backwoods fools.
Reflex 19 (13+6) How long will it take me reach the door? Do you want to me roll for my minions or do you wnat to do that yourself?


In case this isn't a new round I'll do this next round
Time to end this idiocy I think to myself. From the shadows I form tiny tendrils of Eldritch power and send them writhing across the floor of the tavern to the bodies of the fallen where they envelope the corpses. The corpses begin to rise somewhat stiffly, limbs hanging lifelessly as blank eyes stare forward as they walk forward towards the newcomers. "Kill the ones in armor!" I hiss to my newly arisen minions and then step back into the shadows, easily shaking off the fear from the strange barbarian.
Will 16 (10+6). I'm using my The Dead Walk invocation. It animates 12 HD of zombies, all of which are under my control. If there are more than 12 HD of the dead then I animate the corpses nearest to the armor clad people. Hide 13 (10+3)


Oh, okay.
I attempt to melt into the shadows behind me, avoiding the attention of the guards.
