About Mortimer The Alchemist

Mortimer was smart. He had a hideout close enough to the road to rob passerbys. The hideout was far enough away where they'd never be bothered. He was the leader of a group of goblins named The Pickle Barrel Boys. His treasure stash grew by the day. Nothing in the world could stop Mortimer and The Pickle Barrel Boys.

Until They arrived.

Mortimer was yelling at his scout, Glup, about a highway robbery gone bad. The man had a dog. The man rode a horse. The Pickle Barrel Boys had no choice but to run away in fear. Mortimer was letting Glup know how close to being horse food they were. But he was smart, he saved the gang.

Then Mortimer thought he heard a scream, like a goblin was being carved into pieces. He went silent for a moment then returned to berating Glup. Mortimer thought he heard a scream again. But he was smart, he sent Glup to go look.

Glup returned quickly. He said Yarp and Togo were dead but no sign of who did it. Mortimer had Togo and Yarp guard the cave enterance because they were tough. He went back to berating Glup. Then someone else was shouting.

"Talk or die!" Someone said. Mortimer looked over at the room entrance and saw adventurers. He was terrified so he darted behind his chair. The group made short work of Glup and the others as Mortimer watched helplessly. But he was smart, he was alive.

A man in monk attire walked over to Mortimer. He began questioning him about a "Puzzle" and the "Fire Room". Mortimer loved the fire room. The room would catch on fire if you walked on the floor. As the man questioned him, a lady elf broke into his treasure stash. Mortimer was sad.

No more treasure. No more Pickle Barrel Boys. No more him.

He told the man about the puzzle and the secret of the fire room. The man looked happy. He told Mortimer he would live but no more robbing. He could only help people. If the man found out he didn't he would be back. But he was smart, he said he could help.

A dragon had started a hoard in the upper area of the cave. He was too big to come down to his section. Though Mortimer would go watch the dragon. He knew his weak spot. He knew how they could kill the dragon. The group debated but finally decided to let Mortimer help.

With his information, The group injured the dragon enough to cause it to flee. They found clues to where he may have gone. They brought Mortimer because he was small and could get into places they couldn't. He could also distract other monsters.

The group left for the dragon's hideout, which also housed a cult to an evil god. Mortimer earned his own way durring their exploration. He watched there back, they wouldn't let him die. The adventurers entered the main chamber and fought the cult and the dragon. After a long battle, the heroes had won.

Mortimer slumped to the floor. He was no use anymore. He lost his gang, his treasure and traveling alone back to his hideout alone was certain death. The monk saw Mortimer lamenting his situation. The monk offered the goblin to join them. Mortimer squealed with delight.

He had a new purpose. He traveled with that group all over the continent thwarting evil. Mortimer learned how to make fire in a bottle. He learned to harness poison and other magical substances. He traveled with them until they got on a ship to help a privateer captian. Fearing the water, he decided to stay behind.

Now Mortimer travels by himself. But he is smart, he knew he will find another group to adventure with.
