Morgthar the Ravenous never had a chance at a normal life; he is the offspring of two monks from a cult of Zon-Kuthon. From an early age, Morgthar was indoctrinated into their ways and excelled at unarmed martial combat; a fact that quickly earned him respect from within the cult itself. Word soon spread of Morgthar's ability to kill unarmed and he soon found offers of employment coming from shady quarters. It was ultimately one of these contracts which landed Morgthar in prison for life.
Morgthar had been contracted by an employer from within Cheliax to assassinate one of their trade rivals. Morgthar was to be given an invite to a soiree thrown to entice more trade in this rival's direction, but there were to be no weapons permitted at the soiree. Morgthar's skills would be put to the test. Gaining entry to the palatial city estate of the trade rival was simple, given that Morgthar had a legitimate invitation. He quickly hid within the crowds and mingled for almost an hour before his target emerged from within his well-protected manor house. Despite being surrounded by guards, Morgthar efficiently eliminated two of them before two sharp punches to his target's throat neatly snapped the man's neck.
Despite making attempts to extricate himself from the estate, Morgthar found that both of his exit strategies had been covered by agents of an unknown force; it appeared that he had been double-crossed. Before he could be eliminated, however, the guards turned up and arrested him. Morgthar went quietly and was summarily sentenced to life imprisonment. Although the inquisitors were stringent in their application of interrogation techniques, Morgthar never revealed his employer; Morgthar would ensure their payment would come in time.
During his time in prison, Morgthar has kept himself to himself practicing his martial arts day in and day out. He has refused to be drawn into the political games so often played in the confines of prison life and has beaten anyone who has attempted to coerce him. Now the political powers that be leave him alone, realising that he's not worth the effort. However, someone has noticed the worth of such a character as Morgthar has uncovered following his transportation to his new home.
