Mizuki Takamiya's page

Mizuki was found as a baby on the doorstep of the Takamiya shrine. She was found lying right infront of the Shrines main gate, curled into a ball, sucking on her own tail, with a trail of tiny blody footsteps leading into the bamboo forest surounding the shrine. The head priest Michio Takamiya(in this region of Minkai the headpriest of a temple usualy gives up his last name and takes the temples) puzzled as of why the Kami of the forest allowed a child with obvious oni blood not only to live, but aiding her in getting to safety, decided to adopt the child into his family and temple (he actualy waited a few weeks before doing it formaly to give the girls parents thime to find her, in case the girl simply got seperated form her parents). As she could not realy speak at that time and her clothing, a simple baby kimono, did't give any hints about her identity, she was named Mizuki, after the beautifull full moon of the day she was found.

Her early Childhood while long was peaceful and happy. Even if her adoptive father had much of his time claimed by his duties as head priest, there were enough miko and miko in training to look after her, which was a good thing as Kozuki(little Moon) was curious and stronger than a child her age should have been. Once she outgrew toddlerhood she spend her days exploring, helping in the shrine and taking the first steps towards becoming a miko at the temple.

Her early adulthood was mainly, training as a miko and with the use of weapons, she showed great talent for both, socialising with the other mikos at the shrine and her dutys as a miko in training. Those years where largely uneventfull, beside a few troubles with bandits or monsters. Bandids showed up every few years, mostly when its been a bad year, as the shrine was in the middle of a bamboo forest and the kami inhabiting the forest usualy made the shrine hard to reach for those with evil intentions. One of these bandid attacks was the first time she purpousfully harmed a sentinent being. This year, the first year she was allowed to stand with the defenders and not hide with the children, a band of bandids lead by a man called Kuroinushishi has come before the temple. Mizuki was standing with those of the Mikos, Priests and Shohei standing in front of the gate to scare of the bandids, and she was striking an imposing figure, despite her lack of size, with her hair tied back into a poniy tail, exposing her horns to full view, a lammelar armor over her miko robes and a huge kanabo, glowing with divine might, in her hands, that she swung around threateningly, as if it weighted not more than a wooden stick. The girl, that evoked wispers of a "guardian demon", the grim looking men and women armed with a variety of weapons and the achers on the shrines walls made the attackers hesitant. Their leader decided to step forward started a speach, about how he thought he was a leader of MEN, how she was just a girl, about how thei would rae and plunder, but his atention was to wuch on his speach ant not enough on the girl, so he was quite surprised by the thrown kanabo hitting his legs and the girl, with a face twisted by rage, that jumped on his prone form, and stated to punch slam and bite him like a raging beast. The beating the stuned bandids witnesed, many of them describing it later as the most brutal one they've ever seen, and the girl, wearing a miko's robe, splattered with their leaders blood, swiping her gaze over them made it easy for them to come to the agreement, that beeing elswere would be a good idea, and that there is no shame in runing away from a demon. The bandid leader later(after his jaws had healed enough) swore under the eyes of the kami and the gods, that he would give up his live of banditry and joine a monastery. The storys of the "One Miko" lead to an increase in vistiors for the shrine and in turn an increase in donations (and embaresment for Mizuki).
Her duties as a miko were always a pleasure to her, exspecialy the chaneling of the kami. Being joined with a kami, begining with the first time gave her a fealing of being, being more, being whole, being alble to see the world more fully. The first time she experienced this was, the day after her first blood, as it's customary for miko of this shrine, with Ryūdōiki the kami that chose the shrines pont as his ward. He is a very calm kami, even for the usualy calm Suijins, after giving her offering, a small spere of diferent minerals, and finishing the ritualistic dance and prayers Ryūdōiki acepted the invitation. This state of two being one was the most astonishing experience in her life, like the expanded mind of a drug trip(even if she had't one of those) combinde with a almost perfect clarity combinde with knowing a being, so much older and so much different form herself more intimately than most mortal being ever know each other.
Her other dutyls even if not as magnificent as this one, were things she liked doning, althrough she hand no talents for the work in the shrine archives.

After almost 60 years since finding Mizuki on the shrine's doorstep, her fathers the headpriest, after communing with his own kami, knew that is live would end soon. He caled all of his children to his side, those bybirth, tohse by coice, those to follow his duty. He called everyone he cared for, to his bedised one by one, giving them his godbyes and his final words of wisdom. He died the folowing night. After his burial she tought a lot about her fathers words and finaly decided to go on a spiritual journey. She left the temple after saing her godbyes, she started her journey by waking in the surrounding forest and shomehow walked out of one near Brinewall Castle. Finding herself in unfamiliar surroundings, she tried to ask the Kami of the road for directions, but was surprised as she found none. The Miko decided after some contemplation to head for the castle build in an unfamiliar style, because a castle means civilisation and thus someone that can give some answers.
