I'm a player in a D&D3.5 high-level game where the DM lets us contribute backstory/fluff to a shared wiki for the campaign. For each "entry" we contribute, 400XP are contributed to a party fund for use in the creation of magic items. Magic item creation still costs the normal amount of money.

The DM has final editorial rights on all "entries" to keep the campaign going the way he wants.

Now, I'm starting to run a Pathfinder campaign, and I'd like to do a similar mechanic, but rewarding XP for magic items doesn't make sense given the Pathfinder rules. Do you all have any other ideas for rewards I could use?

Fancy clothes.

Ok thanks, just checking...

My 5 players last night was fighting a 5 bandit group. For whatever reason they used Monster Summoning II twice to bring in 2 extra creatures (celestial wolves) to assist them in wiping out the bandit menace.

Does this summoning affect the APL of the party? Do I consider the party size to be 7 when I divide up experience?

I've seen a lot of discussion on how monster CR includes summoning abilities, but I don't see much on how it impacts awards if its the players doing the summoning.

I'm thinking there should be some impact in the awards to the players, as all the summonings really made the encounter easier.

Hi all,

I'm DMing a Pathfinder game, and I've noticed that my players are using Detect Evil/Detect Magic quite a lot. I feel its breaking the flow of the game.

I've read a lot of the discussions on this problem in these forms along with some of the ways to diminish its impact, but I want to go the other way. I'm looking for creative role playing, house rules or other colorful ways to cut down on parties dependence on these sort of abilities of their own free will.

For example, consider Harry Dresden's Third Eye (search for Third Eye) as a variant on Detect Magic. That retelling of detect magic is the kind of thing a player wouldn't want to do every time you want to walk into a room. It could even be modeled as temporary wisdom damage or the like.

Any Suggestions? The more creative the better...

I have a spreadsheet of Paizo adventures by level, so if you ever need me to quickly look something up, lemme know. :D

Could I get a copy of that list? I need a 3rd-4th level module (ideally PFRPG) other than "Masks of a Living God". I DM for 10,11 year olds (ah, parenting in the modern age), and they're not strong enough at role playing for that kind of adventure.

That sort of list really could really shine as part of a website--Imagine a wizard that recommends you PF/Gamemastery modules based on you're preferences and needs.

The earlier ones are written using the 3.5 ruleset. You shouldn't have any real probably using them as is, as 3.5 and PRPG are roughly 95% (just a guesstimate) compatible.

Thanks to both of you for the speedy reply! That's like 5 minutes for two replies.

This may be a dumb question (you're warned ;>)...

What game system are Gamemastery Modules written for? PF or 3.5?

If 3.5, is there a conversion guild that will help me use them in Pathfinder?

Thanks for your time,
Chris

There are two OGL Adventures I can think of that may be suitable:

Flight of the Red Raven

River into Darkness.

Both appear to have wilderness contents. Of the two, I am leaning to Red Raven because of the reviews on the premise, the action and the encounters. Both of these modules are listed as being for Level 4, but they appear to be written for D&D 3.5ed: That means that it should be on-par for 3rd level PFRPG characters.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'll take a look at them. nrtrandahl, not at all opposed to creating my own. Time constraints are my enemy though.

Hi all,

My group just finished Crypt of the Everflame, and they really liked it. The group is 3 players, aged 37, 12, and 10. The group is level 3 across the board now.

I know I can do the sequel to CotE, Masks of the Living God, but I've read it and I'm certain the younger people in our group won't enjoy it. They're not strong role players yet, and they're themes in there they wont get yet, let alone enjoy.

So....Do you have any recommendations for an alternative module I could use for for 3-4 level 3 players? Maybe something more like a wilderness romp? I looked on the Paizo site for options and its really painful finding modules by level.

Thanks!
