Heck, out and murdering a sentient being like that could make Jadrenka even more suspicious and/or fearful.

Well the PCs started out thinking along the lines of "We're trying to save Baba Yaga so a lot of people in the hut and her fancy cave should be helping us." So when 90% are hostile they've taken to a hit first ask questions later or never approach.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So i'm GMing Maiden, Mother, Crone right now and the witch in my party snuck into the room with Caigreal and put a sleep hex on her. I allowed a couple quick knowledge checks, all they got was she wasn't human and they saw the unholy object she had on her. So they killed her in her sleep....

They haven't even ran into Jadrenka yet!

I am not quite sure how to proceed! Can Jadrenka be straight with them without fear of losing her role as warden now? Seeing as all she needed from them was to kill Caigreal and Vesvelod. they're one down one to go BY ACCIDENT!

any help or tips would be much appreciated.

So I'm GMing this and my group loves to befriend NPCs and there is already talk of finding a good one that fits their party. Which is Whitch, Druid, Ranger, Monk. So in seeing as how Nadya is going to be a big part of the campaign regardless I want to change her class a bit to better fit my party composition. Aka I don't want two rangers. So I was thinking either just changing her to a Barbarian or a hybrid Ranger 1/Barbarian 2. And thoughts or suggestions if this is a good or bad idea would be most apprecoated!

I'm trying to keep her as close to the original concept as possible. So I'm thinking about keeping her two weapon fighting with the axe and pick but that's not a very good fighting style for a barbarian.

IMO, monks and rogues/ninjas are possibly the two worst fitting classes (unlike Jade Regent).

No on has addressed why Monks are poor choices for this AP and one of my players is planning on rolling an unchained monk for our first session saturday. Why is the monk bad? Should I suggest for him to play a different class?

Rest of the party consists of...
Halfling Ranger
Ratfolk Witch
Sylph Druid

My group stumbled head long into the Erylium encounter, (party consists of a Dwarf Paladin, Half-elf Rogue, Half-elf Ranger, and a Gnome sorcerer). After seeing Erylium summon the sinspawn, having dealt with the other sinspawn rather easily, they figured it was just another simple encounter. But after her turning invisible and the sorcerer noticing not much blood or damage when she reappeared they got pretty concerned.

So as a team effort the Ranger and Sorcerer lasso a rope around her and start to pull her in, our burly dwarf aids in reeling her in all the way, and finally the ranger succeeding in grappling her takes her over to the pool in the center of the room and proceeds to drown her. Everyone jumps in the pool to make sure she has no chance of getting out. Take THAT dmg reduction and fast healing!

Thanks all, really helpful comments!

I have a nice neat party of 4 so i was gunna mostly ignore xp and use the advised level progression. So i think i'll just make all the NPCs stay 2 levels below the part at all times.

Depending on how the PCs want to utilize these characters.

Question about all the possible companions, the surviving black arrows and Shalelu, I have never run a campaign with really any NPCs as part of the party. So my question is if they are a part of so many encounters would they also gain experience and eventually level up?
