In Chapter 2 there is a machine that

Spoiler:
potentially grants ancestry traits.

Would this also give access to the appropriate feat pool at level up?

I'm unsure because:

Spoiler:
The wording on half elf (says you gain the traits, and then separately says you can select from multiple pools) and adopted ancestry (where it doesn't give the traits but does explicitly allow access to the feat pool) makes me feel like the traits and the feat pool access are not synonymous

I'm considering running this as it lines up nicely with a new group wanting to play. I've never run an adventure path as it has released before.

Malevolence did a great job of outlining the over arching story, main plot beats, and important characters, right at the start.

Does this do similarly? Am I being crazy eager to run it without being able to read through all 3 volumes before hand?

Are haunts defeated if their HP reaches BT or 0?

Complex hazards stop activating when they reach their break threshold. Usually they're destroyed when reduced to 0. There's more on it in page 521 of the core rulebook.

I'm not sure how that applies to haunts, particularly as the ones in this AP reset unless other conditions are met.

I'm currently running two groups through this and they're both approaching having cleared out the first floor.

Now I know the book suggests they hit 4 before tackling upstairs - I'm just struggling to tally the xp to get them there.

Is it assumed that they max out some research to tip them over the edge?

(You should be looking in the Adventures subforum, not the Adventure Paths subforum.)

Thank you! I've flagged it for being in the wrong forum now.

Hello all,

Quite new to the forums and couldn't find a threac or sub forum for GMs to dicuss the stand alone module Malevolence, so I thought I'd make one.

How is everyone approaching the preparation?
I'm just finishing my second read through of the adventure.

It'll be my first time running 2E and so I'm eager to hear how running it went for anyone else or any insights / organisational tips people have.

Hello!

I'm considering writing and sharing an adaptation of the Cartomancer Witch for 2E and as a compatible subclass for D&D 5E.

My understanding is that because the Harrow deck appears in the pathfinder rpg books it would be considered category 1 and I would be able to reference it by name in the text so long as I complied with terms of the community use policy.

Also, that the Deluxe Harrow deck images may not be used as they would be considered under category 2.

In all honesty, I don't intend there to be much besides mentioning the original archetype, and the deck, in the write ups but I'm double checking to reassure myself.

Kind regards,
Mini Magus
