History:

Miette’s earliest memories are of wandering through the underdark with a very pale yet loving tribe of Svirfneblin. The oddly nomadic tribe of Svirfneblin which raised Miette apparently found her hidden in a deserted cave while searching for trade routes underneath the surface of Barrowood. A female shaman named Nyx, seeing this child as a good trading omen demands that the clan adopt the child, all clansmen and woman quickly agree. Nyx was always the quickest to explode if anyone disagreed with her. Many speculate this was also the reason Miette was spoiled rotten by the entire tribe.

Being raised in a loving home, pampered to a fault and very mischievous Miette was one to create mischief around the nomadic tribe. Finally seeing reason, Nyx and the Svifneblin clan decide Miette needs to be with her “own” surface dwelling kind as she would never survive the underdark with her limited dark vision and the apparent lack of stone lore. Giving her as much surface currency and adventuring gear as the clan could afford Miette was directed to find her own way above ground. This was the most glorious day in Miette’s life, forty odd years with seeing little sunlight left her wanting more!

After a decade of traveling, searching for reasons why she was abandoned and avidly seeking any adventures the rogue-ish Miette decides to stow away on the first large ship headed towards Absolom. Never being aboard a ship before she quickly regrets her decision; sea sickness, eating scraps of food all the while knowing she mustn’t be found on this merchant vessel destined for the great city Absolom. Stealing from the crew rewards her with little coin and barely enough food to eat. Fresh water is easily found in barrels below decks while the shipmates are above decks trimming the sails (whatever that means), carousing or singing the worst songs imaginable. Most songs are dreadfully boring, usually about killing pirates or missing loved ones. Fortunately finding calm seas through half of the voyage the ships forward and aft hatches were propped open for sunshine and fresh air. If not, Miette would have not been able to survive as the confinement below decks was oppressive even for one raised in the underdark.

Getting off the ship was a bit more tricky than getting on. Curiosity getting the better of her, our intrepid adventuress decides to take a peak when the ship drops anchor waiting for berth. When attempting to take a closer look at the city Miette decides to “shimmy” down the anchor chain a few feet. Immediately Miette is seen by the First Mate who hates petty thieves and anyone who would stow away. Dropping into the water and swimming for her life away from the First Mate's deadly aim, Miette eventually finds herself running through the city's maze of docks, desperately looking for anyway to avoid the relentless First Mate's search.
