When you get to the Tomb there are Sisters and Storm-troopers keeping the area secure. A medicus is looking over the sarcophagus. He looks up and says " Ah, Astartes. Good my theories can now be proven. Tell me is there an apothecary among you?"

As you make your way into Alkenstars camp, you see that he has many soldiers with him. Most of them are Dwarves, but there are some humans and Gnolls of the kind Alkenstar had described. There also seems to be a few Goblin slaves, and even a few Undead being used for labor.

So in short, you were just lucky.
