Looks like this went South. Too bad, was very excited about the vigilante concept. Hopefully I'll find another game where the work on the character won't be wasted.

Ok. I am still here.

Is everyone still here? (Minus Ulfgar)

I really, really want to play this game, but it's ok if you are too busy to run it. I'd rather you say you can't if you can't than to keep checking in on nothing.

That is a shame, I really liked Ulfgar.

I am back from my trip but noticed nothing much has occured.

I have family over this weekend and a con trip next weekend so probably a little less active. Bot as needed. Should still be around most of the time during weekdays.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Well since no one has chimed in yet, I decided messing with the upstairs doors is too risky. Dog might alert them and it will be annoying enough to get from the top to the bottom for them without having to break open doors and windows. So unless someone has another suggestion, then skiff to back, feed gator, go in that way. I can (or someone else) try to pick the lock if it is locked once we get there.

Kheldar leans forward in the chair more seriously, "So, boat, feed alligator, get Lamm. I assume the door will be locked, I might be able to deal with that quietly. Any other suggestions, or shall we get this show on the road?"

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

I would like to try using disable device to jam the locks on the doors in the front, to buy us time if things go south. Not sure if everyone else thinks that a good idea. Not sure what else to do for the route we chose. Any other ideas etc before we go?

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar smirks, "Nice trick. Try as I might, my daggers tend to seriously injure people. Maybe it's all in the wrist? If you think you can disable the alligator, maybe we should go that way. We could try feeding it chum to keep it busy and you can incapacitate it with your sword otherwise. I could try disabling the locks on the first floor to buy us time if things go south, they'd have to break the doors open or the boarded windows to get out and down to the lair."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar shurgs and nods, "We can borrow a skiff to get us close enough.. I wonder if we feed it some fish guts it'll leave us be. Alligators aren't particularly loud like a dog would be.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

"Unseen, yes. But the dog will smell us before we reach the door. Perhaps we could procure some poisoned meat and put it to sleep.."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar tugs on his nose thoughtfully, reclining in a chair with one leg draped over it's arm. "Alligator. Could cause a scene, if it decides we aren't there to feed it. Though obviously getting to his lair and blockading him in with us means no reinforcements. But if we let them flee, we will have to hunt them all down. One would inevitably replace Lamm if he were removed from the action.

And then there's the issue of the dog. That dog will be more of a threat to our plans than Lamm's flunkies. One wrong bark and everyone will be on alert."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Master Kheldar waits in the dimly lit room of his followers house, empty now except for him, dressed as a nondescript laborer, waiting to allow them entry on their arrival.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

I like the planning aspect but maybe we could speed up the gameplay a bit? I think we were shooting for once a weekday at least? It's hard to keep interest when checking for two days and nothing happened and it's not a weekend.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar also does some footwork. He gathers information on the Fishery and the group using it for Lamm, while Yarblek digs around for any relevant information he or a contact might know.

Robert, I specifically use a strategy for followers and mundane items where they can deliver a care package to a designated location from elsewhere, usually my place of residence. We could use them to do that I think like a gofer as long as we get the gear and have it where they can get it.

For example I don't carry camping gear around with me but have them set aside in my apartment and could have it brought to me if needed. Not that great of an example since if we were going out into the wild I'd probably just stop and get it myself haha.

From my changing guises section: If additional gear is needed for a job, The Rat will notify Yarblek of what and where, and it will be couriered there by one of his henchmen as a care package, hidden and waiting for him.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

That's pretty comprehensive, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

I got you on the followers. I will just wing it if it seems appropriate and if there is an issue or you don't think it fits just let me know.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

"Now that I think about it, I know a guy who lives nearby. He works for me and we can use his place to meet. I'll tell him to go visit a bar for the night on me.

Kheldar gives simple directions and leaves, saying, "See you later."

He rearranges his outfit back to the performer and disappears out the front door the same way he entered.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

I think that's most of the uses. Maybe some successful finds might give a bonus on other stuff. For example finding out who's there or the layout might help with bluff or disguise when infiltrating since you have some advantage?

On another note, I have followers, and while some of them help with the business, most are to form a spy network or people in places that might help getting stuff done. If you don't mind I'd rather you control that. For example, maybe I have a follower who lives nearby and can host us for our meeting. If you tell me something like that I can keep track of it for the future but also gives you some DM leeway for adventure hooks etc?

I have my follower info in a spoiler on my sheet. I just think that would be easier and not slow down the play by post of the game if I don't have to constantly ask about what my followers might be able to contribute (hey, Joe works here and can get us a key to get in quietly, etc)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar nods, and assuming nothing else is discussed, he sets a time to meet at the fishery. "I will find anything I can on that part of old Korvosa. Perhaps there are building plans or details of underground structures thereabouts. Might know a few people, too."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar has an eyebrow raised as he re-enters the room.

"I, ah, discussed this with a little bird, who told me these names are references to the harrow deck. Like the ones I assume we all received. And... he said prophecy of this type is normally done by Pharasmites, the most famous being Alika."

He says the last with a long look at the blind girl, who was apparently channeling that very person. "If things check out with Lamm, this just became a lot more serious." Kheldar tugs on his nose, watching her and the others' reactions.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar excuses himself for a moment, using his arm band to recite the message to Yarblek with instructions to dig around into what this prophecy-like message could mean in terms he can understand.

He then closes the metal cover on it and slips back into the room.

In case his knowledge skills might know more about what was said.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar's nose twitches at the mention of Gaedren Lamm.

"Well, well. The old fool is hiding out beneath the Old Fishery over the Jeggare. I don't know about you all, but I have some scores to settle with that man."

He seems to ignore the mystical and supernatural aspect of the encounter. Perhaps it unsettles him, or maybe he is too used to it.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Think we are waiting on Alika to give us more info?

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar smirks at the courier, "Well it sounds so BAD when you put it that way."

He glanced around at the vigilantes he has heard rumors of but never really interacted with. Should be entertaining, anyway.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

I got it. The Rat isn't that well known but Kheldar is. Being a sneak means if people know about you, you failed :)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar grunts, "Well, you don't have to be showy about it. I had already come to the conclusion that everyone invited had the same secret 'safe with her'..."

He says, as he begins pulling pieces off his face and his clothing transforms from performer to his typical rich attire. The change takes less than a second or two. "Master Kheldar at your service." he says with an exquisite bow, "But you still haven't told us exactly what these portents of evil entail."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

"Oh, well, if there's nothing to gain from it count me out."

He waits for the looks to come and winks and grins, "Seriously, though, what exactly is this 'evil' and what are you asking of us? I like to know a bit more about a job before I'm inclined to take it."

He pulls on his long nose nervously, even if he can trust the girl, can he trust these others?

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Must be the blind shop owner.

He busies himself with looking and various stringed instruments, waiting and watching. His browsing takes him close to a front-facing window, where he can keep watch on the outside as well as depart in a hurry if needed.

For question I missed, I sent one of my followers to check it out from visiting the store, or peeking if closed. I sent a second to keep watch from across the street.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

I also took ranks in perform(acting) - which can also be used for juggling, apparently, and my bluff is good. I wonder if that counts as convincing proof if I had to bluff that I am who I say I am.

Also, I don't think Juliet or Savage took many guises, so you are not alone :)

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar shrugs, waiting to be shown to who he assumes is an instrument maker, idly juggling the sticks from his belt. "Whatever suits yer needs, boss. I ain't about to get a tongue lashing from Vella by returnin' empty handed, and neither would you if'n ya knew her. Show must go on an' all that tripe. Whatcha know?"

Simple deduction, I wasn't the only one on the invitation list...

Scoped out, to do reconnaissance. Layout, exits, contents, anything that might be useful to know.

In the morning, before Dawn, Kheldar shakes his arms and his entire wardrobe changes into that of a performer. He grabs some old juggling sticks and hooks them onto his belt, shifts a bit to hide his other gear, and proceeds out the 'back exit' of the large business suite.

Disguise: 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (19) + 34 = 53 Many Guises

He strolls casually until he reaches the music shop. "Oi, been sent ta get an instrument fer me compatriot, from some Alika. Point the way, kind ladies and gents."

"Well, obviously this Alika is associated with a music shop. You can still read, can't you, or has the wine permanently glazed over your eyes?"

Kheldar and Yarblek exchange their usual jabs with each other. Someone knows his secret, and that's hazardous in his line of work. He sets about making preparations for this unexpected meeting. Nothing else much being done before morning except to have the place scoped out, find the best avenues of escape, and put a man to watching who comes and goes between now and morning

Male Human (Chelaxian) Vigilante (Teisatsu) 7; HP 64/64; Ki (6/6); Init +5; AC 21/FF 16/T 15; F +4, R +11, W +7; Per +14; Cohort: Yarblek; Vigilante: The Rat

Kheldar grunts, flipping the card back and forth between his dextrous fingers, thinking. He scampers up to Yarblek's apartment, banging unceremoniously on the door. While he waits, he commits the message to memory. As soon as the door opens Kheldar gives his compatriot a hard stare, "Hopefully you didn't blurt something out in a drunken stupor. Find out what you can about this 'Alika'. Let me know when you have some answers."

He then flies down the stairs and out the front door of the building, carrying some goods to deliver. He makes a point to stop and talk to people along the way (followers), gathering information as he does on that wine shipment and the mysterious owner of that harrow deck.
