Backstory

Description: Marina is a blonde-haired, sun-tanned surfer from SoCal. As with most magicians, she eschews cyberware, but she has various tattoos depicting waves and storms. Physically, she might best be described as "tight." Marina also has several piercings, though she takes these out before surfing (too easy to snag on something while caught underwater). She has a habit of dressing in beachwear, though since moving to Seattle she has grudgingly added raincoats to her repertoire.
Personality: Marina has a free-wheeling, ebullient personality. She enjoys meeting new people and charming them. Marina loves the ocean, swimming, and watching fish and cetaceans. Unsurprisingly, she is a beach baby; she loves sunny, sandy days, of which there are not enough in Seattle. She shares many of dolphin's proclivities: she loves laughing, playing games, and casual sex (in moderation).
Background: Marina comes from San Diego, in the California Free State, where she was raised near the ocean as part of a very fortunate family. Marina has one younger sister. Her parents still live in north county San Diego, where her mother works in biotech and her father in securty. Marina attended UCSD and achieved a degree in marine biology, as she always had a strong affinity for the ocean. Only a few short years ago she found that her strange fascination with the ocean was more than just a quirk, but rather a calling. While swimming in the rough waters of La Jolla Cove, she struck her head against the rocks and barely crawled ashore in a daze, while experiencing strange visions and a liminal state. She came to realize that she was called by Dolphin and eagerly but trepidatiously embraced that calling. Dolphin's call took her to Seattle. She doesn't know why, but she has answered as asked. Like many people from CaliFree, she is SINless (though she has a UCSD student ID!).
Marina has been in Seattle for about a year now and has had a few hard lessons as she runs the shadows to make ends meet. In spite of the gloom, she somehow keeps her sunny disposition.
