Backstory:
Maria hails from Kyonin, a primarily Elven country to the Union of a Elven father and Human mother, owners of a small bookstore. While her parents gave her a rather wholesome and happy life, her upbringing was fraught with insecurity of being a half blooded and was picked on for this, causing her to be reclusive and somewhat introverted. This would lead her into a love of book reading, keeping to herself as she read books upon books, promoted by her parents that were happy to help her cope. This love would transition herself well to her acceptance into a private academy that specialized in both the magical and scholarly pursuits. Her success there would lead her to be sent away to be an apprentice under Elrithrathiel. Maria spent two years at the academy, from the age of thirteen to when she was apprenticed by age fifteen. Much of her life in school was much the same as before, keeping to herself and reading, now with access to magical tomes which gave her knowledge beyond that of fictional knights or of places far away. This pursuit of knowledge and a drive in her academics was what teachers easily saw in Maria, a thirst for knowledge that could only really be satisfied by an apprenticeship to someone that could teach her not only that of books but of practical knowledge and skill. The young half elf has spent the last five years under Elrithrathiel’s supervision working for the wizard at her mage’s tower in Lyon’s Brooke. Cooking, cleaning, and as well running errands for the reclusive wizard, Maria is one of the primary forms of contact with the old mage. However much of her introverted and bookish tendencies have followed her, leaving herself an oddity much like her teacher. This only worsened after she was accused of burning down a shed on accident near a field that she often practiced some of her more destructive magics. While she wasn’t held responsible for it, Maria is still seen as the one most likely as cause and is not seen as well as her more famous master, still known for her exploits in defending the town against goblins. Appearance and Personality:
Auburn hair with green eyes, Maria stands at roughly 5’8”. She has a slim build over which she typically wears clothing that is rather typical of a wizard, though has a tendency to prefer the blue color often shared by her master. Her hair s typically tied back and in the summer is known to wear a round brimmed hat. She is always seen with a satchel bag, containing not only her spell book but also books of various nature.
Seeking knowledge. Maria has long done so with the lack of acceptance from those around her, even to this day she still continues to do so in the quiet village of Lyon’s Brook. She typically has a journal she uses to catalog things she has learned or discovered, causing her to appear to snoop around town rather often, much to some dismay. Secrets:
Maria did burn the shed down and lied about it. Her master knows of such and quickly tried to cover the accident up, fearing for her at the time relatively new young ward. Maria blames herself for this, having not told anyone else beside her master and has been deeply conflicted since the accident.
Through her own snooping, Maria has unconsciously discovered whom Vipsta Livianus lover was, though much of that is hidden among her own journal's various notes. Unaware of this, she had not placed two and two together. The father is actually Seus Cether Contacts:
Elrithrathiel- Her master of whom she is apprenticed under is the only person that Maria trusts actively and has the most active contact with. While she does send letters to her family, the older wizard is very much like a second mother to her, even if the training can be rather hard and straining.
Viria Scaeva- Shared in a love of books, Maria is Viria’s top customer, always coming every week to return and check out new books. The two both often discuss books that they have read each visit. She is one of the few people that Maria can open to of her life before in Kyonin and in general. Viria herself doesn’t concern herself with the pasts troubles and view of the populace has on the Half Elf. Castus- The farmer still holds a large grudge against the apprentice as it was his shed that she burned down. While it has been long fixed, he still seeks a form of justice that he believes has not been fulfilled. Ennenrus Zoletlan (Elf Wizard)- Back during her days at the academy, Ennenrus was a fellow student that had formed a fierce one-sided rivalry with Maria. Not only does she see Maria as lesser than her due to heritage but also due to her Maria’s selection over her for Elrithrathiel, seeing such an event as an insult to her person. Extra:

Beyond the issue of the shed burning, in her childhood Maria had one terrible episode in which she was pelted with rocks from children, one of which nearly took out her left eye. While it fully healed with no complication, she still often feels a sort of phantom pain, even if none of the damage is left. Maria does not like crowds, often trying to stay to the periphery of a room instead of the middle. In a conversation she doesn’t want to be in or feels uncomfortable, she is know to slight fidget. Goals:

The character for me I’d like to break the shell a bit, let her find a group of people that she could potentially relax and have friendship and camaraderie with. As well it could be a challenge, how far is she willing to search for knowledge and at what costs.
