I'm here. My 14 month old son has not been sleeping well lately. Also I have hay fever really badly.

Malwyn does his best not to look disgusted as the three counters approach him to report and he tries to arrange his features into something sympathetic. Which most likely makes him look like he's so disgusted he's about to cry. "Ah yes, you were counting how many people?... Ok. I think your supposed to tell Lem now, the halfling giving all the orders, yes him. Wait, tell me. What happened here?"

Malwyn holds his nose "Survivors, well that's good." he says to the group in general as he takes a few more step back from the trapdoor so he can't see all the people packed in so tight and shudders slightly.

Malwyn follows Lem and Krular into the building and looks at the trapdoor. " If you step back and ready yourselves perhaps I could open it with a spell... It could be trapped plus you never know what kind of diseases could be covering the latch. "

I wonder what is so precious to our halfling employer that he gets so flustered over it... I must remember to divine it's nature later when he's busy with other things... Magical or mundane?

Gerald and Lem can't be sure if the man is joking or not, the only indication being that he waits for some response before clearing his throat. Once around the card table Malwyn asks Gerald " So what do you think of the idea of going about to the surrounding communities to check on them and at the same time sell some of your wares? "

Malwyn looks at all the crates needing to be packed. He attempts to use Mage hand a few times before sighing " I'm not really built for this " and retrieving a pair of gloves he helps to lift them in.

At the rite of fire

Malwyn returns Captain Dars smile a little awkwardly and simply nods. I guess it's good that he could die this way. It's obviously brought a sense of peace to his friends and family, better than being slain on the road by us and definetly better than falling to the corruption! When Dar wipes his eyes Malwyn looks away uncomfortably and is glad when he's farewelled.

Malwyn wakes early and sits in his bed studying his spellbook quietly in the predawn light. Afterward he heads over to observe the rite of fire with some of the others. He stands at the back of the group when Captain Dar signals them over trying to stay apart from the conversation. He watches the ceremony without emotion, but with great interest in the custom.

Malwyn accepts his bag of gold without a blink of the eye, even though it was his recommendation to kill the soldier. He then tucks into the feast, listening to the conversation. As he begins to feel full he leans back in his chair and stretches. " A fine meal, my thanks to you Dar. Do you know where most of the flood waters come from? Perhaps that is where the beasts came from too. "

Malwyn looks around the group I guess this is where I speak up... " Well sir, I believe I know something of your boys condition. I am Malwyn, your boy, Jace, has been infected with the corruption. The beasts take people to their lairs and corrupt them with profane rituals. Jace must have escaped after the process... He is lucky to be himself right now, most people do not recover. Did you know you had these beasts in your lands? I have never heard of the disease being here before... " Malwyn pauses to give the captain a chance to answer before continuing. " The corruption is a horrid thing that grips at the soul first and changes the body second. I seems we saved Jace from the second fate when we killed the leader of the corrupted beast that attacked us on the road here. The reason we still had him bound, well, his soul is already tainted and he'll soon turn to evil things! At least that is what I have been taught. "

" Yes I suppose I probably do know the most. I'll just get comfortable first. " Malwyn drops his pack down at the end of his chosen bed (as far from the door as possible and preferably close to a corner.) he pulls back the covers and removing his shoes and coat he sits down. He places some jerky on the bedside table for Szarka and says " Once you are done with that maybe you could fly around and listen in to a few people's conversations. See what you can learn about this place and it's surroundings. Like why all those tents are out the front? " Malwyn then closes his eyes and will spend some time trying to recall everything he can about the corruption.

" You know that could have gone a lot worse, considering the stubbornness of dwarves. "

Malwyn scratches his friends neck with his right hand . " I'm ready to move on. No doubt the smell of this place will quickly become even more unpleasant." He moves to the back of the second wagon planning to walk along behind and listen in to Jessops conversation with the stranger, his interest rekindled by the mans quick recovery.

Sorry, seems we had a miscommunication. This is what I posted when the battle was beginning. If its not possible to be on top of the cargo in the first wagon then the second will do. Also if casting colour spray (it's a 15 foot cone) will catch any of my allies I'll work out something else to do.

Oh dear!

Malwyn digs into his left pocket and pulls out the scroll with a blue edge, he lets it unfurl and begins completing the spell with his right being careful to avoid the beast. Finally he dips his hand into his right pocket and throws red, blue and yellow sand at the scaly mutant. Bright colours burst from his hand in a cone which he's careful to position around ice by taking a step around her if necessary.

Malwyn watches Ice calmly shoot at the beasts even as they attack their companions at close quarters. Wow! I wish I could be as confident. he lets his crossbow drop to the crate between his feet and twists his Arms in intricate patterns and his right hand dips into a pocket then throws iron dust into the air. He chants words of power and finally directs it all at Krular I hope he takes this in his stride

The weary look in Malwyns eyes drops away as he hears the howling and the sick mans reaction, he stands next to the wagon looking alert, crossbow pointed into the vegetation trying to spot what's howling.

Malwyn helps with setting up camp as best he can but most of the tasks involved are foreign to him and he ends up getting in the way more than anything. Tripping over a support rope for the tents just after it's stake had been hammered in. He looks inside of the tents checking their size. How will I ever sleep sharing so small a place with so many he shudders with the thought.

He's quite surprised as Jessop summons the globe but it puts him more at ease as no one makes a fuss about the magic. He sits down near the fire and takes a leather bound book from his pack opens it up and begins to study.

Malwyn walks along behind the second wagon. He knew about card games of course but he had never found the time to play one, perhaps tonight. He watches the others play trying to pick up the rules though he can't see the cards and periodically looking around as Krular does.
