Background:
Mak Taure is not one to enjoy a crowded city. In fact, some might call him a hermit, a grump, or a curmudgeon. But in reality, Mak is a product of his upbringing. Raised by his two mother and father in a small cottage far outside of Wispil, Mak spent more time growing up roaming the wilds with the family dog than he did interacting with other people. That isn't to say he lacks any social abilities, as his father made sure to bring Mak along on the occasional trips to town to sell the furs that the family caught in their traps. But given the choice, a solitary life is the life Mak would usually choose to live. After reaching adulthood and striking out on his own, Mak continued in the family business of trapping and hunting, scraping out a living by selling furs and meat to the town, and purchasing what little tools and supplies that he cannot forage or make for himself. The majority of Mak's life is simple, spent hunting, fishing, and otherwise foraging for survival. But honestly, he wouldn't know any other way of living. Apart from working, Mak does spend some time playing the pipes, a rough handmade instrument he carved for himself as a child.

A bear encounter gone wrong led to a massively scarred face, which only reinforced Mak's loner nature. Other than the scar, which runs the entire left side of his face, Mak can be recognized by his simple woodsy clothes, and his hat, which both helps to protect from the elements in which he works, as well as helps distract from the scar. Mak stands at a lithe 6 feet tall, with a wiry build that is constantly in a state of caution and alert. A lifetime of hunting and tracking has given Mak the experience and skills to maintain a constant state of vigilance, which keeps him safe in his wanderings through the wilderness. Whenever possible, Mak prefers to engage his foes from a distance, picking them off with his longbow, only resorting to a long spear to finish off trapped animals or as a last resort. In addition, Mak's parents made sure to train him in the delicate art of creating and setting traps, a skill Mak uses to this day during his hunts.
