These are new people. Familiar smells. Where is Nugats? Luna spins in a circle, momentarily getting distracted by an itch on her hindquarters. With her rider off of her back, she wanders up to the silent, stoic one. This one smells like paper. He is quiet, I think I like him. There is another smell though... maybe... With a deft slide of her muzzle, Luna's nose slips underneath the bottom hem of Yanndu's robes. Her sniffing picks up as she tries to place the new smell from one in her memory, sounding remarkably similar to a pig's chortle. Nope, don't know that one. Doing another lap around the gathered group, Luna's nose suddenly sticks up in the air. Her tail begins to wag so hard the energy wags her entire body. The chain barding she wears begins to clink and clatter in waves. She lets loose a sharp "Woof!" that startles Pooka next to her. I smell Nugats!
Luna knew the glass explosion was coming. It was something her Pooka said. Or because she was a dog. Probably the second one. She knew how to shake things off. She was very good at shaking. So when the shiny man exploded, she shook. Luna twists her head as far as her neck will allow and then snaps back the other direction powerfully. When she does, it creates a chain reaction that uncoils energy all down her body, causing what hair is exposed from the chain barding to stand on end, and a fair amount of drool to shoot across the room.
It was a good shake. It almost knocked Pooka off her back, but she knew he would understand. The adrenaline of the fight causes her to hardly notice the cuts that some of the glass still inflicts, but at least there are no cuts on her paws. Moment's later she spins around and hears Pooka's command. She snaps out with her jaws before backing up to give him space to stab with his chewing stick. That chewing stick was her favorite. The biggest one on the farm and Pooka carried it everywhere with them. He always seems to know what she likes. for
What is this crazy halfling trying to make me do now? Yea yea, scratch that spot. Ok, I'll do anything. Hey Pooka, you know there is a big orange thing in our way right? I can just go around... ok not around. Got it. I'll sniff it for you. Smells like Rallas and Nugats. Yea, they were holding the pieces, that makes sense. Hey Nugats! You left something over here. Smells like you, probably yours. You want me to walk into it? I'm going to knock it over! Ooookayy... wait, just like pool of water? I LIKE WATER! OK, JUMPING IN!!!
Luna drops her chest to the ground, her tail high in the air and wagging so hard her whole body shakes. What is this ROLL OVER? I don't understand... Jumping into the air with the gnome on her back, Luna dances in a circle, chasing her tail for a couple of circles before stopping and staring at her master.
"Rorf!" Pooka barks excitedly as she realizes where they are headed. She hops once in the air, nearly bucking Pooka from his position in the saddle strapped to her back. She quickly realizes her mistake and walks more evenly, though her powerful tail still wags back and forth so hard it shakes her whole body.
The poor caster doesn't stand a chance against Pooka's loyal, very good dog. With a snarl and a stream of slobber trailing behind her, Luna guides her master center mass to the elven looking creature, and continues through his personal space, leading with her shoulder. As she slams into him, she snaps out with her powerful jaws.

At the sound of her name, a silver-haired dog comes bounding into the room. At full canter, she clumsily bumps her massive, muscular frame into Pooka's chair, nearly knocking it over to remind him that she is close. Suddenly her ears perk up, and her nostrils flare out. She sticks her muzzle up into the air, waving her head back and forth as she quickly sniffs, searching for an unmistakeable scent. Another dog. Tail wagging so hard it shakes her whole body, she starts to circle the room until Trixie comes into view. Her tails stops for a moment as she approaches Trixie's backside while simultaneously offering her own so the two may properly greet. Pleased with what she has smelled, she unleashes a playful "ROARFF!" and drops her head and chest to the ground, her rear end sticking high up in the air as her tail resumes it's powerful wag. "ROARFF! ROARFF!" the sound reverberates off of walls and ears.
Luna hears the shouts of her master, but it does not slow her borking. The confusion from the shifting gravity has already left her brain, but being separated from Pooka in this moment of stress is not sitting well. Obediently, she stays where she is, and takes up a circular flying pattern a few feet off the ground by the others who remain outside the strange orb.
Luna immediately uses her powerful back muscles to try to find leverage somewhere beneath her when she crashes into the wall, twisting and scraping and flailing with her legs. She calms, but only slightly, when Pooka grabs her saddle straps. Suddenly the wings sprout from her back, and instincts she didn't know she even had kick in. Her wings flap and flail, straining against the unnatural gravity in the room, lifting her into the air.
Wow, this guy smells like burning oil. I don't remember seeing any timeworn gear. Maybe they have it? He doesn't look very nice. My teeth are definitely feeling bitey... Ok Lets Gooooooo!! Tell me I can bite, tell me I can bite, TELL ME I CAN.. YEEAAAA IMMMA BITE YOU! Luna snarls, spittle flying as she pulls herself and her master along the floor. Just as she feels Pooka lean in for the blow, she digs her paws in one more time to make sure the momentum can carry her close enough to snap her jaws down on a very enticing looking leg.
Dog and rider use a barstool to deflect most of the acid, though the magical energy still burns, leaving the most wicked kind of wet dog smell. The dog shakes briefly, flinging bits of acid along the face of the bar before they can do any real damage to her skin. It will take a while for her fur to fill back in a few spots though. "Grrrrrr" Luna's growl rumbles deep in her throat, her mouth salivating at the opportunity to sink her teeth into the offending monstrosity.
Cottonwood root. Beaver dung. Hippo snot. Dragonleaf extract. Fey Ash. Ah-ha! Grizzly bear musk. MY FAVORITE! Hey! Someone's tail just wagged and knocked that jar of musk over. Why is Pooka telling me to sit? Ok I'll sit. No that most certainly wasn't my tail. At least I don't think it was. Then again, I try not to think. Way to tiring. Oh man! They are cleaning it up! How am I supposed to rub my neck and roll in it if they clean it up!?
As the group begins to set out for the Tonic seller, Luna peels off behind her master and over towards Sir Wilk again. Approaching him from behind, she takes an exploratory sniff underneath his tail before sidling up next to him, trotting in perfect harmony. Exactly like the two had done since they first met in the office of Venture-Captain Holgarin Smine. Of course, there was a lot more circling, a bit of hackle raising and some good natured chasing around the office at first, but only a few stands were knocked over in the process, and hey! Those papers looked better scattered all over the floor anyways. Life was good. This Sir Wilk seemed rugged and maybe a bit unrefined, but this was definitely going to be a good doggy friendship, Luna could tell.
Following the guiding of her master and best friend, Luna carries him forward, absorbing the blow of his weapon. As soon as she gets close enough, she snaps her jaws forward, trying to take a bite of mummified flesh on their way past.
As soon as the pair enters the darkness, Luna begins to sniff, trying to use her sense of smell to fill in for the lack of sight.
Luna whines the entire time Pooka is clambering across the river. She paces back and forth in the span of about ten feet, wearing the stone down with worry as her master dangles precariously over the moving water. When he finally reaches the other side, her tail wags as she plops her hindquarters down, her tongue lolling out. When Pooka gives the command, there is no hesitation. Her rear legs uncoil with power, launching the rest of her body in three long strides before she reaches full speed. Luna's head dips close to the ground as she reaches the edge of the broken stone, preparing for the leap across. It's a leap she has done hundreds of times, and this will be no different than the rest. No river will keep her from her master. Her rear paws plant down in line and outside of her front paws. She stretches out, leaping into the air and soaring across the water.
Koboko cast a spell on me? Smells like a spell. I think I got his name right too. Dangerous thing though, thinking. Reminder for myself to not do that too often. I think it's ok this time though. I was in between thinking Kiboko was great, and just ok, but probably leaning more towards great. This spell zooms him right to the front of great. Mvumbu is pretty great too. Thanks Kiboko! The hushed speaking tones and the sensation that battle is about to be joined is the only thing that keeps Luna's tail from wagging.
Luna strains against her lead, pulling on it as often as she sidles close to Pooka, bumping him as they walk. The conglomeration of smells assaults her nose, and her reactionary system is on overdrive. It takes all of her restraint not to growl at every passing undead or other denizen that would normally find itself on the business end of her teeth and Pooka's lance. Pooka's firm but gentle hand covers her muzzle, reminding her that she must have been growling again as they approach the troll. The growl morphs into a low, rumbly yowl that rises and lowers in pitch. Luna plops her hindquarters down and slowly stretches her front legs out, reluctantly laying down while she waits for the pathfinders to talk.
Underneath Pooka, Luna's body shifts back and forth to the rhythm of her tail. The chain barding clinks and slides with the motion, and her muzzle lifts into the air. Her nose works overtime, sniffing the myriad of smells around her until she fixates on one in particular. This is a new smell. The jungle smell is definitely coming from the half-orc, if my memory on races is correct, but there is another jungle smell. Wet like river water. Very subtle difference between river water and lake water and pond water and puddle water, the last one being my favorite. Oh, that's a big dog. Is that a dog with no hair? How is her hair supposed to stand up tall like mine is doing right now? Luna's hackles push on the chain barding and poke through some of the links, but her tail never stops wagging. Her ears perk up tall for a brief moment before drooping down while she continues to sniff the air. Turning her head to the side a little bit further, she finally makes eye contact with Mvumbu, and her tail begins to wag so hard that the body wag starts to rattle Pooka's armor. Like a good dog though, she waits obediently for Pooka to introduce her.
Luna wags her tail again and trots around behind Pooka. She barks once as the halflings feet slip and slide, giving him no traction. She then latches her teeth onto the backside of his tunic and gives it a mighty pull.
And easily lifts the Halfling off the ground, comically pulling on the door herself with Pooka as the connecting link between the door handle and her powerful jaws.
With the familiar words and tone of Pooka getting ready to leave, Luna's tail begins to wag. Her chain barding jingles and jangles as the tail wag quickly begins to take over her whole body. Her tongue dangles from an open jaw, and the joy is clearly in her eyes. She circles around the diminutive warrior, bumping into him as she sidles up next to him, facing the same direction. Get on! Let's go!
Luna leans into the pat from Hania, nearly losing her balance in the process. These pathfinders are good. Even the tiny one who smells nervous. Or is it anxious? I always get those two smells mixed up. Not afraid though. I definitely know that smell. No fear here. Woof! Yes, tell us a poem! Pooka is terrible at poems. I know because my tail sags when he tries.
Scratch my left ear, scratch my left ear, scratch my left ear... Luna's tongue hangs out of her mouth as the trio walks along. She looks sideways at the towering armored woman, all mental focus bent on a single thought. Scratch my left ear, scratch my left ear, scratch my left ear, scratch my lef... IT WORKED!!! SHE SCRATCHED MY RIGHT EAR!!
Mmmm, I think docks are my favorite. So many smells. Fish is a good smell, but maybe not so good to eat. Why do they have to hide so many bones in there? I like this little guy. Little like Pooka. He asks questions like I smell smells. How will you know if you don't smell? His nose must not be good like mine. My kind have the best noses, it's a shame Pooka's is so tiny. Oh good. Lady with armor like Pooka who smells like flowers is coming. Pooka said her name is Hania? I'll try to remember that. Probably already forgot though. Little guy is coming too. Nugats. Crap, already forgot that too. Awww, not everyone is coming. Less hands for pats and scritches. Maybe later." Luna lets out a playful bark as she watches some of her newest companions walk away, her tail wagging lightly underneath her chain barding.
What is this? Looks familiar, better get ready. Oh goodie, their goes my hair. Hey! Just like hers! Ok boss, I'll hang tight. Oh, a hand to eat. Did I say eat? Let's smell first. Ink. And paper. Definitely a pathfinder. Probably Definitely. A hint of magical tang too. But no bad sulfur. Ok Pooka, she isn't so bad. Oh that's a good ear scratch. Definitely probably not bad at all. A staccato, soft thumping begins to emanate from the floor underneath Luna, crescendoing as the head scratch intensifies and stopping suddenly when the head scratch stops. She's alright in my book.
Is that the whistle? It's definitely the whistle. Here I come. Oh hey, I remember Valsin's smell. That must be Valsin. Does he still have the bacon in the drawer? It smells like it. Oops. I remember, he still doesn't like it when I try to open his drawer. Hey big guy, I didn't put all that slobber there. At least I don't remember... Oh there is Pooka. He is my favorite. He doesn't mind slobber. Oh fun, New People! This is definitely fun. I can tell because my tail is wagging. Is that a monkey? I don't know if I like monkeys. He smells like a monkey. Maybe he would be fun to chase. What do you want Pooka? Stop chasing the monkey? Who was doing that? Certainly not me... Ok maybe me. Hup. Down. I know those. Ok, He obviously wants me to sit on his feet. But I haven't gotten pats yet from the woman who is dressed like Pooka. She looks a little sad. I am certain that scratching me behind my ears would fix that. Well, it's at least worth trying right? Down. Got it. Guess you better come to me Warrior lady dressed like Pooka.
Luna lifts her head slightly at Xull's boistrous laugh. She huffs, yawns, stretches her legs out, and rolls over to her side, quickly back asleep. Her head and front legs now conveniently cover a portion of the dragon's foot as well. Should she not move it, it will surely begin to tingle from the sensation of falling asleep.
Freed from her master's weight for a moment, Luna begins to wander around the room. She lowers her head to the floor, sniffing various things to familiarize herself. She slowly saunters towards the door, squatting on the corner of the shattered glass golem to relieve herself for a moment. Just in case the boy dogs come this way, they should know I was here! Luna then takes a leisurely trek along the walls, continuing to sniff, as if memorizing the smell of the place, and locking it into her canine mind. She wanders slowly by Warpac, then Toorin, then Amarok, bumping against them in a shameless attempt to get a scratch behind the ears or along her rump. She approaches Korasu, sticking her nose in an awkward place for the umpteenth time, and moves away when the avian swats at her side. Finally, she sits down next to Xull, facing the sapphire and diamond sages, as everyone around her gets very serious. The dragon and old man look back at the group, and Luna turns her gaze from one, to the other, then back again. She then turns her head to look up at Xull. With a slight wimper of pity as the humanoids all seem stressed out over some strange decision, the silver-haired canine stands back up and walks over to the dragon. She spins in a circle once, twice, then flops her rump down, followed quickly by her whole body. Her backside rests ever so slightly up against the leg of the dragon as she closes her eyes for a quick nap.
Try as she might, Luna struggles to match the correct scent, confusing the bowels of the beast for the scent she is being commanded to find. Each time she leads Pooka to the corpses in the other room she plops her hindquarters down, wagging her tail vigorously, waiting for her treat to reward a job well done. This is fun. This is easy. Master should do this more. I like these treats. I like finding things. Oh yea, he is doing it again! I will show him again. Yum treats!
