And it looks like we might be back....
I'll try and get some responses to you all here tonight if it stays up.

Please stay up please stay up please stay up please stay up please stay up....
That probably isn't helping. Will be nice to get back into a groove though...

Yes, Roland but for how long? How long until those rats are back?!?! I can't take it. "AHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Daru Apsulon

| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Those are not "rats." Their proper name is Ysoki Frustratacus. Granted, they are a disease-bearing race, known to cause excessive swearing and high-blood pressure, but still, they are no mere rats...

Is the GM still with us?

Play Starfinder do you?
I wound't worry about the GM - people will trickle back to the board.

Hi Players my name is Miss Fiona. So it's really really warm here the two foots say something about mid-90s whatever that means, and I decided I didn't need this little black box next to my favorite sleeping space that was making it warmer. It's nice when its snowing and it makes it warmer but its already too warm. So I knocked it down, and my sleeping space went back to normal.
Then the two foots starting yelling and making a lot of clicy sounds on the keyboards and got really quiet and started looking at me, and not in the I'm so cute way either. Then one of them got on the talky box thing and had to wait a really long time, and that didn't seem to make them any happier but finally got to talk to another two foot. Who said something about holiday weekend. I don't know what that means other than a lot of people come and I get extra pettens.
Well this morning a nice guy who said it wasn't my fault, brought a new warm making box and the two foots put it not next to the sleeping spot. I got pettens and told it was ok, and they clicy blinky boxes that the humans spend time on went back to working.
So now the two foot gets to copy and paste this thing that has been sitting on the desktop since the two foot-mom variant has had it written but yelling at this 'ysoki' thing that looks like I should catch it, twofoot-mom says catching those are useful. But it seems trapped in the blinky box.
Translation from Cat-speak: I broke the modem...and the cable company wouldn't let me just buy one from best buy.

*hackles raised*
Hey two-foot-mom. You want me to chase Miss Fiona? I can. I'm really good at it too.
Please say yes.
Please.
*pitiful whine*

No worries from me! It could have been worse... Glad things are back!

Oh yea - RE what to do next.
We've got 5 potential things to do. I say we really split the group.
*watches Nugats cringe uncontrollably*
Let's send one person to each thing, (well, 2 people to 1 thing) and see how many things we can do.
- Scope Out the Prison - Nugats?
- Lift the Keys - ???
- Steal a Disguise - ???
- Investigate Known Gray Gardeners - ???
- Contact the Pharasmins - Hania and Pooka?
In the interest of keeping the discussion short (over PbP a 'quick' discussion can take days...) I propose everyone just making their next post about what one of these tasks you want to do. If we double or triple up on some and miss others, no big deal. Everyone should do the thing they think would be the most fun to attempt. Then the group meets back up to talk about what we have discovered, and make our next move from there.
What say you? :)
Favian Aldori
|
Hmm... nothing sounds like a task Favian would really be any good at. If it's not about magic and it's not about fighting, then it's probably not up his alley.
Roland Garros
|
Checking out the prison is probably the most useful for Roland, if perception is needed.the less speaking, the better.
Nugats
|
"Pooka, you sir are an idiot."
But I am used to that so its all good. As a professional PBP gamer, I will take whatever. I am happy to shoehorn my glass cannon gnome into any situation.
Favian Aldori
|
Favian can be intimidating, but not diplomatic. So if investigating the Grey Gardeners could involve roughing up the right people, I might be ok with that.
Pooka Bladespinner
|
Let's worry less about the risk of failure, and focus more on what sounds fun... Just go for it. What's the worst that could happen, right? We totally botch something and miss out on a prestige point? We aren't going to fail the mission... might as well have some fun. :)
Pooka Bladespinner
|
That would be a hell of a way to retire a character! Ha! :)
(Ok didn't think about that. Still.... that would be an epic story...)
Daru Apsulon
|
It'd help to have a sense of what skills might be relevant. Do we have any sense of what it might take to do these? We have spent time trying to find out about this stuff, you'd think we'd have at least an inkling what each might entail...
Scope Out the Prison -
Lift the Keys - ???
Steal a Disguise - ???
Investigate Known Gray Gardeners - ???
Contact the Pharasmins - Hania and Pooka?
Daru does have a rank in Sleight of hand (for a mod of +9). At high-tier, that smells of suicide, but she does have invisibility and mage hand as well. So perhaps she could Lift the Keys.
Again, Sleight of hand, etc, so could try and Steal a Disguise, but she's horrible with disguise, and would only do it if others wanted to use disguise. She certainly doesn't want to bother with it.
She has good diplo (+17) and kn-local (+11) if that's Investigate the Known Gray Gardeners. (i.e. asking around about them...)
Perception (+16), Invisibility, Flight Hex and Detect Magic for Scope Out the Prison
Obviously, she'd be good for Contact the Pharasmins, but others have that covered. (and Kn-Religion is not class skill)
Favian Aldori
|
I guess I will go with the investigation route.
Daru Apsulon
|
Maybe investigating the Gray Gardeners is following them around? Survival?
Favian Aldori
|
I hope not. I'm pretty much useless on all wisdom based skills.
Nugats
|
Why steal a disguise when I have magicks?
Daru Apsulon
|
So, you wanna use your magicks to Scope Out the Prison?
Or join Favian checking on Gray Gardeners?
Daru Apsulon
|
FYI: I live in Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina, and Hurricane Florence is barreling our way. We're far enough inland, it shouldn't be dangerous, but power outage is a very real possibility...so if I go dark for a time, please just go ahead and bot Daru.
She has good diplomacy and likes to use it.
Slumber hex and frostbite against anyone who's possibly redeemable.
Since we're high tier, getting Mirror Image and Flight online early might be good idea for survivability, though if we need to kill quick, there's old-school magus, i.e.
Intensified shocking grasp spellstrike (along with intensified shocking grasp spellstoring weapon).
Frigid Touch spellstoring armor used if she's being full attacked by someone with multiple attacks. (i.e. make them staggered so that can't attack her a bunch of times...)
Parry & Riposte
Can use a wand of True strike as a wand wielder magus to try and tank, i.e. use true strike after she attacks, so her Parry attempt would have additional +20 (sacrifices a bunch of offense to do that, but tanking can be situationally amazing, especially against critter with one huge nasty attack per round)
Hopefully none of this will matter, but giving you a heads up early in case I'm offline at the end of the week.

Good luck and stay safe!
I visited that area once for a training class at Buhler Aeroglide. We ate dinner at a cajun restaurant that had the most spectacular ribs I have ever had. They were so good that any and all ribs I have had since have been massively disappointing.
We will keep Daru safe. You keep you safe.

Seriously sometimes our toons die (only one in PFS play and that was hotly disputed and still subject to butt hurt feelings) but members of our group have survived Harvey and other RL encounters. Take care and stay safe.
I don't have a good food story. :/

My lvl 4 grippli druid was one-shot by Enervation spell....nothin' like range touch attack having a 1 in 4 chance o' killing ya. But between prestige, gp and a bit o' kindness from the party, he was raised to fight another day. (He is my -13...don't believe that had anything to do with it, but you never know.)
Hania_
|
Is anyone else able to channel positive energy besides Hania?
GM, I also want to make sure I understand the rules on the phylactery of positive channeling. If I'm understanding correctly, it will apply whenever Hania burns two LoH uses to channel, but not to just LoH. Is this correct?

Correct the phylactery only triggers on a channel ability (not LoH as it's not a full channel).
Roland Garros
|
Roland cannot channel. I think you are it, Hania.
The trade-off is losing the +2 to CHR from headband for a paladin - affecting smites/saves/etc. Tough choice.
Pooka Bladespinner
|
So I could be wrong, but the way I read this, we have an unguarded entrance we can enter and exit from, plus some very helpful things against undead that are most likely going to cast save or die spells.
In the beginning we were told that they would be executed in the morning, and it is almost daybreak. We were given 'potions of story plot so we don't get tired' also. :) (not criticizing, just having fun...)
I say whoever claims the ghost salts first gets them. They are best used on ammunition because one application hits 10 pieces of ammo, whereas 1 application on a weapon only works on the first hit.
Pooka has a sling and sling bullets, if no one else has any ammunition they use even as a secondary weapon. Odds are, his charge at half damage to an incorporeal creature would do more than a sling bullet with ghost salts...
Favian Aldori
|
Favian's weapon has the ghost touch property, so he's all set.
Can someone use the wand without a chance of failure? I have a +16 UMD, so it's not definite.
Daru Apsulon
|
Death Ward is on the Paladin list. One charge will last 7 minutes
I'd say Ghost Salt for at least 10 arrows for Roland. Actually, I'd recommend 20, unless he already has some ammo with Ghost Salt? (since he's firing 4/round with rapid shot and haste)
If Hania is going for phylactery and channeling, then maybe the last dose for Pooka's lance. But if Hania goes for Smite evil, getting her full smite damage (doubled v evil undead on first hit) would probably be better.
Daru has a dose of Elixir of Spirit Sight, which makes her weapons and armor Ghost Touch for 1 minute. It's not cheap, but better than being dead. She'll plan on popping a Haste first round of the first two battles. (then she's outta Hastes...)
Daru also has a masterwork darkwood crossbow with 5 Ghost Salt Blanch bolts. She'll happily hand it over to Hania: Smite Evil will still add to the damage (only 1d8 base), in case the things go airborne/out of reach. (Yes, she used to have 10, and yes, that's why she's bought a very expensive Elixir for a level 8 PC...that was one hairy encounter. Not everyone made it out alive.)
Pooka Bladespinner
|
I think that is an excellent plan Daru!
I'll plan on putting the ghost salt on my lance then, unless someone claims the 3rd one.
I think we are well equipped, like any good pathfinder should be. :) Good work team!
Edit: Way to go reading comprehension skills! Yes, that 3rd dose would probably be better served with Hania for that smite roll. I'll only take it if Hania would rather not use it.
Hania_
|
GM, I wanted to bring up again that Hania has the spell Paladin's Sacrifice prepared. She's most likely to use it to protect Pooka from a critical hit, since he's so much lower in level than her but appears likely to be the target of attacks. A hit that would kill Pooka she can take.
Nugats

Ok so we are storming the prison and are preparing to fight incorporeal creatures?
If this is correct, and it is dawn, I am unprepared to deal with this threat. My spells (except MM) would only do half damage and I do not hove time to re-prepare.
Is it possible to stock up on some scrolls or such before heading in? If not I will make do, professional and all. ;)
GM Phoenix Kyten
|
That's part of the challenge here is time is of an issue, and your going to be hard pressed to find someone with a legitimate shop open this morning among other things that your going to run into a bit later.
GM Phoenix Kyten
|
Here's to hoping that you ride out the storm well Daru, heard it got downgraded and hoping it keeps slowing down.
Nugats
|
Yeah so though I have played a fair bit of PFS, Nugats was built for GenCon '16 as a true glass cannon for our regular gaming group. Since then he has sat on shelf unused. I really need to audit his spell book to add some more PFS-ey type spells to help with the myriad of adventures Paizo is now offering.
Well this should be fun.
Roland Garros
|
Nugats, with multiple magic missiles, haste, invis, etc. you should be able to contribute just fine. I have been at tables where the entire party could not deal effectively with incorporeal foes at all...which led to several deaths.
Pooka Bladespinner
|
Wizards can be so immensely powerful, but typically need proper preparation in order to fully take advantage of that.
No worries for sure, I think we are pretty well equipped.
Just FYI - Pooka has the danger ward ability, so assuming I time it right, I can give us all a bonus to our saves to help with the seemingly inevitable save or die event that is looming...
Also GM - apologies for the slight liberties I've taken with how hard the door might be to open. It was too fun not to play with. Please feel free to take whatever creative license you want with that.
