While he found the conversations with Mithann interesting, Lumen didn't care being spoken to like a child. Given her status though, he didn't say anything. It didn't take him long to determine neither of them was going to convince the other to change their beliefs and they would just have to "agree to disagree". Since he had a longer trip to Caer Konig than the others, he made sure to give himself enough time to get there. Besides, it gave him an excuse to end the lectures. Lumen didn't have the historical knowledge that Mithann had, so he felt at a disadvantage in their debates. The books in her library weren't much help as they clearly were written by a follower of Aumanator. When it was time to go, he thanked her for her hospitality and agreed to stop by when he was in the area. He was fortunate enough to find a caravan heading towards Caer Konig so that he didn't have to travel alone. While he would miss sleeping in a warm bed, he was happy to be back adventuring. Once in town, he headed to the inn, and found the others warming themselves by the fire with some food and drink. "Ah, you are here. I was beginning to worry I wouldn't make it in time with the weather. The cold didn't bother me all that much, but the group I was travelling with really slowed down trying to deal with it," he says to the group as he pulls up a chair and orders some stew and mead.
Lumen reaches into his coin pouch, pulling out the coins and placing them on the bar. "Thank you and have a good evening," he says as he heads off to the Northlook to get a room. I'm fine with fast forwarding. I was just posting something while the others were. It's not necessary to delay moving on to our next adventure.
Lumen smiles and nods in understanding. "Well, Ogden, thank you for the food and drink as well as the information. I should be going so I can find a room for the night before visiting the temple tomorrow. I was told to go to the Northlook for a room, is that accurate? Also, how much do I owe you?" Lumen says as he stands up, briefly checking if his balance was affected by the drink.
Lumen eats the stew, preferring its warmth in his stomach to the burning of the drink. Prior to finishing his meal, he downs the second shot and asks for some water to wash things down. He uses the bread to soak up the last of the stew, then pushes the bowl away. "Mmmm, Odgen, that was delicious. Do you grow the mushrooms yourself or do you get them from the market?" Lumen asks as he sits back and rubs his belly.
Lumen does his best not to react too much at the burning from the drink but he can't keep his eyes from watering. "Wow. That's stong," he says once he's collected himself. "In addition to checking out the market, I'm in town to visit the Temple of the Sun. I understand it is the only one in the area. Are you familiar with it?" he asks the barkeep.
"Thank you for the information," Lumen says as he bids the dwarf farewell. He heads to the market to find Kelvin’s Comfort and a place to sit after his long walk. Once inside, he finds a seat near the fire to relax and warm up. "I've been told I need to try Firebeard’s Firebrandy, although it sounds quite strong. How much is it?" he asks the server.
Lumen smiles at the dwarf. "Thank you. It's good to have reached town before nightfall. A warm drink does sound good. Do they also have rooms for rent, as I'll need a place to rest after my long walk? While I don't have any goods to sell, I might be interested in buying some items," he says in common.
Whoops, it seems what I thought I posted, didn't. Maybe I forgot to submit and closed the window. I don't need to draw this out any more than I have already. Lumen informs the group of his desire to travel to Bryn Shander to visit the Temple of the Sun there. "The gods of the Sun and Light aren't widely worshipped in this cold, dark land. I feel the need to learn more about Lathander and I've been told that temple is the best option in the area. I realize it is to the west and not to the north as many of you are travelling. Perhaps we can meet in Caer Koenig or Caer Dineval in a couple weeks," he says.

I'm taking the +1 amulet of the devout just not familiar enough with the area on how I would get it.
Lumen looks concerned when Turq takes a swing at Nezter. "More of the duegar's tricks? You feel ok, Turq?" he asks, watching him carefully. He then peers down into the hold, contemplating his options. "Not sure if this will help, but it might draw him out," he says pulling out a small bag. He reaches inside of it, withdrawing a small, fuzzy ball which he tosses into the hold. Bag of Tricks: 1d8 ⇒ 4 When the ball lands, it suddenly changes into a boar.
Lumen considers their options. "I can't say that I do. How long can they stay small like that? And how frequently can they turn invisible? I guess my concern is who owns the ferry? I'd rather not have to explain to the town why we sank their ferry," he says calmly. He wasn't sure that his questions would change anyone's mind as he figured they might fall on deaf ears, but he thought he should at least try.
Lumen moves over to the hatch with the others. "I don't think we have time for that. Move away from the hatch," he says when Turq and Baldrick start using their weapons to get through the ice. Once they are out of the way, he again calls upon Lathander to bring forth the heat of the sun to their aide and a fan of flame coats the hatch. Casts Burning hands.
Lumen looks over at the dwarves holding up their blankets to try to block the light. He chuckles to himself and moves over behind them, pulling out his own blanket and holding it as high as he can. At over 2 feet taller than the dwarves, he blocks more of the space above their blankets. He also glances back at the wall to see if he recognizes anything. Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Lumen searches in his pack. "Hmm, I thought I had some candles in here but can only find incense. Hopefully, light on a rock in a pouch will help without giving us away. Perhaps one of you with a free hand can grab the other end of my mace to steer me through the cave," he says as the group proceeds to the cave. Stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Wow. I saw that the Nashville school district has some 1000 students and teachers in quarantine (not sure what % that is of total) after 1 week. I was relieved when our state stepped in to make masks mandatory in schools but I'm still wondering if I should send my kids. Obviously, a mask is only 1 part of layered protection.
"So you want to get there as quickly as possible by going across the frozen lake and then spend the night in an unexplored cave where a cursed wand was found and which could be haunted? I can't think of anything that could go wrong," Lumen says sarcastically. "Remember, we can't help the boy if something happens to us. I think the more prudent path would be to return to Easthaven where we can spend the night and then finish the journey to the cave so that we can explore it during the day. While sleeping in a cave is better than out in the open, it doesn't compete with a warm inn," Lumen says, trying to talk some sense into the group.
Detect magic will only tell me if it's magical, which we already know it is. Identify might tell you if it's cursed but that is an arcane spell and the person has to touch the item anyway. If we want to take the wand without touching it, we just need to use mundane items. Someone have a bag the kid can put the wand into?
