Lulu fired off a shot at the newly arrived bear, and clicked her tongue to spur Pumpernickel to action!

Slight change to my previous buffing; Pumpernickel's animal focus will be Tiger (+2 Dex) instead of Bull (+2 Str), since his grapple cmb isn't affected by Str.

Lulu's shot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Are we confirming crit fails?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

I think this ^^^ was a pretty important point. I don't think this stuff is actually happening to our characters.

"Wait... Why's everybody so mad..?" Lulu asked, seeming to just pick up one the anger and distrust some of her newfound companions had for mister Valence. "We're gettin paid lots! And don't you like trying a thing before you buy it? It's fair! Askin' him not to test us out is like...like... ”Illusions? I love illusions!” Lulubelle hopped excitedly. She then started waving to Valence, vying for his attention. ”Ooh! Ooh! Make us fight a fire-breathing dragon! A pink one. And instead of breathing fire, it breathes glitter and candy!! And instead of fighting it invites us to tea!”

Lulu tensed as some sort of truce seemed to have been struck. As others began to put up their defensive spells, she began to follow suit, first quaffing Loreli’s infusion. ”Anyone hurt, get close,” she said. ”I’ll heal you as much as I can.”

Round 1, drink the infusion. R2, activate her Cloak of Darkness, getting a +4 armor bonus for 1 hour. R3, if Chalkou and Grial are close enough and still injured, and the dinosaur is actually dead, she’ll Channel energy to heal everyone injured for 2d6. She’ll do it again on R4 if necessary. With her move actions on those rounds she’ll get out all her durable arrows and set them on her belt, and join the others. On R5, as a swift, she’ll change Pumpernickel’s animal focus to Bull (+2 Str) and activate hers for 1 min, choosing Tiger (+2 Dex); and for her last Standard she’ll change her teamwork feat to Shake it Off both to up hers and her critters’ saves, and to get that song stuck in people’s heads. Pumpernickel will stay close, getting between her and the spider. Bitterbeak will return to her shoulder.

Channel Energy 1: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
Channel Energy2 (if needed): 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

I'll pick #3, the prostitute. I have an alchemist//witch idea, unless you're looking for the religious/sacred prostitute type, and one class needs to be divine.

”Pumpernickel!!” Lulubelle cried out, as her best friend scrambled at the walls of the pit. She saw the other dino tearing into Chalkou, and the spider-knife-beast rear up. She worried that the spider was about to join the battle -- or summon something else to harry them. She stepped away, and recited a terse prayer to whatever spirits and things-between would answer.

Casting Cure Moderate wounds, designating Bitterbeak as the toucher.

Lulubelle gasped as Valence whisked them away to a clearing. So many interesting creatures surrounded them! She didn’t know what to expect, until two dinosaurs appeared and attacked… ”No fair!” She protested. She opened her hand and let the toad inside go. ”Eli is off limits! She quickly reached into her satchel and withdrew a halfling-sized longbow, while she clicked her tongue twice, and pointed at the beast attacking the nearby Grial.

Draw bow as move action and use her standard as a move to draw her quiver of durable arrows.

Lulubelle beamed at Kazrek's suggestion. "That's a terrific idea!" She said. "I can scout n' stuff, and if I see bandits I can come right back and tell everyone and get to the ballista and shoot bandits!! This is the best caravan I've ever been in."

”Oh...ok.” Lulubelle said, when Loreli semi-rejected the gift. She guessed it made sense though -- not everyone liked taking care of pets. ”Well, you can come visit him an’ play with him whenever you want. I’ll name him Eli! You know, for Loreli? I’m sure he’ll be happy with the other toads.”

When the conversation moved to the ballista, Lulu gasped excitedly. ”I wanna fire the ballista!” She said, when Loreli suggested her for the job. THWAP, dead bandit! THWAP, dead bandit! THWAP!! Crankitty-crankitty-crank THWAP, dead ogre bandit!” Her excitement drained away a moment later. ”But I probably shouldn’t use the ballista.” She sullenly kicked a rock. ”I’m way better at scouting and finding extra food and stuff, and finding the bandits before they ambush us.”

To see if Lulu picked up on the secret message; since I'm assuming the message wasn't intended for her.
Edit, missed it by a mile. :P

Lulubelle smiled brightly as she received the gifted extract. ”Thank you sooo much!” She gushed, but her smile melted away as quickly as it came. ”But...I didn’t get you anything. Oh! Wait right here!” She padded off at a run, heading back to where her own wagon had been parked; Bitterbeak squaking angrily, while Pumpernickel followed hot on her heels.

Some time later she returned, panting, with hands clasped and something green squirming from between her fingers. Lulu opened her hand and carefully held out a slimy toad with brightly colored markings. ”Here, you can have him! He’s a present,” she said, holding the toad out to Loreli. ”He’s a boy toad, and I didn’t name him yet so you can call him whatever you want. I could give you a girl toad, but I’m trying to breed them… Anyway, they’re called vision toads! You lick ‘em and you see things! After playing with him you should probably wash your hands before you eat anything.”

With that taken care of, Lulu realized she should probably join the conversation about wagon stuff. She stood on tiptoes and craned her neck to see the bigger half-orc guy. ”I dunno…” she ho-hummed. ”I wouldn’t wanna link more than two carts at a time. Well, maybe four carts are okay, but not three! The ones in the middle might get lonely, since they can’t see any of the animals. At least with four wagons the middle two can be friends.”

Made my changes, I just need to update Bitterbeak.

Got rid of my chain shirt and robe of infinite twine, and made my caravan-related purchases. I opted for two linked carts. I'm not sure how many arouchs are required... The Heavy Wagon I already had said it need 4 large critters to pull it; the standard supply wagon only has one arouch; and the thing on linking says to double the required critters from 2 to 4. So I either need 2, 4, or 8 arouchs to pull two linked carts...so I got 4. Let my know if I need to adjust. :P

And I organized my carts:

Wagons:

My Supply Wagon:
Drawn by 4 Arouchs, driven by hired driver.
Current Capacity: 10/10
Undercarriage/reinforcemens, 2 units.
My stuff, 2-3 units.
Cold Weather Gear, 1 unit.
Repair Materials, 1 unit.
Stores and sundries x3, 3 units.

New Supply Wagon:
Linked to my wagon.
Current Capacity: 10/10
Undercarriage/reinforcemens, 2 units.
Cold Weather Gear, 1 unit.
Stores and Sundries x7, 7 units.

I so wanted to splurge for the Campsite Traps. If I get rid of my campfire bead I can afford it, and I can drop two stores/sundries to make room. It just seems like that big, pricy thing on the menu that no one would splurge for, and then later everyone will wish we had splurged for.

Edit - And Bitterbeak is updated. Also fixed a dead link to his cooperative crafting feat a mistake that was never there and you can't prove otherwise! ;P

I hadn't seen the Dark Tapestry spirit before; had to look it up on Archives of Nethys. Thank you! That might be a much better fit for her, even if Bitterbeak doesn't like having a few extra eyes or a tentacle.

Ok, slightly bigger change request; so I want to make sure it's ok before I edit anything: switching to studded leather would put Lulu literally 1 lb away from her medium load, which means as soon as she pulls a weapon out of her haversack she slows way down...

And, semi-related, I honestly don't remember what I was intending when I chose the Heavens shaman spirit for her. And her Feral Speech hex probably isn't necessary either, since she can influence animals just fine without it. So, if it's ok, I'd like swap my heavens spirit to the lore spirit, and switch my hex to the Arcane Enlightenment hex from that spirit. This would let her take three sorc/wiz spells as shaman spells, so she can grab Mage Armor and just memorize it once or twice and not worry about wearing heavy, cumbersome armor with her small size and piddly 8 Str. :P

I think I'm going to do some trimming on my equipment, like swapping out my mithril shirt for some studded leather... I'd like to spring for a driver, so Lulu can actually go scouting during the day while we travel.

As for tense, it doesn't bother me if other people use present, or even mix it up. I'm just used to writing past tense, myself.

Lulubelle had arrived in Brinewall almost a week ago, excited to get started on the journey. Meeting Spivey for the first time, she had nearly reached for her butterfly net before the azata introduced herself. Arriving early didn’t mean departing early, Lulu found out, but that was okay. It gave her almost a whole week to get really, really excited, and build up plenty of energy and enthusiasm! She had spent much of her free time wandering wherever she was allowed to go, asking lots of questions, and trying to find out who the four-armed person was. ”Hello, hi! Hi! Hello?” she’d call, trying to catch their attention. Adding ”...Nice meeting you!” after they disappeared back into the keep.

When the day to join the caravan finally arrived, and Spivey came to fetch her, Lulubelle was practically bouncing instead of walking with penned up energy and excitement. She followed along as fast as she could, which was not very fast, really. Pumpernickel kept up easily, while Bitterbeak sat on her shoulder, wings aflutter and screeching at the sudden movement. Rounding the corner, Lulubelle realized they’d be meeting someone important! She paused a moment to cast a simple Enhance Diplomacy, hoping to make a good first impression.

Seeing the frog-elf guy was exciting. She was pretty sure she had never met anyone like him before! His speech was odd, but then he used telepathy. ”New brain-friend!” She said with an excited gasp, then clapped her hand over her mouth. ’But I can see this one! I can see him!’ She thought, trying very hard not to blurt that out, too. ’Wait, can new brain-friend hear this too..? Cats. Cats. Cats. Puppies. Kittens. Cats. See, I’m normal!’

”Nice to meet you, Mister d’Geiger,” she said, forcing some patience and calm into her voice. ”I brought a wagon, and yaks! But I’ll get some aurochs instead.” She added. Her eyes went wide when Valence produced the scroll, with a third arm from under his robe. ’I want three arms!!’ she thought. ’But I wouldn’t want it getting lonely when I clap, so it’s probably just as well…’ Almost as an afterthought, Lulu wracked her brain trying to figure out what this odd shopkeep might actually be.

That's a really good point on the barding.

And I can keep sleight of hand, but switch disable to device to any other dex skill. Acrobatics would make sense, but I don't know as that'd be any real help to the party. And if sleight might be important, I could swap out one of my traits for something that makes it a class skill, so I'd get at least a +3.

On that note, I could instead swap out successful shirker for the Helpful race trait; then she'd give +4 instead of +2 when aiding another.

Edit: Changed Pumpernickel's barding from chain shirt to studded leather. Realized I goofed horribly, I had listed the barding but never paid for it (sorry!), so adjusted my funds to actually account for it now. Also swapped his 1st level feat for the Natural Maneuvers one. I'm going to work on putting the stats in my profile(s) as requested, now.

Added my equipment to my profile, still have a somewhat decent amount of cash left. I took my yaks off, I'll buy the aurochs instead. Is it just better to scrap/sell my heavy wagon and buy a supply wagon instead? There's also just shy 600 lbs. of stuff in my wagon, not counting Lulu and Pumpernickel's weight.

As for skills, my disable device and sleight of hand come from my Possessed Shaman spirits. I can switch those to other skills before we start; they just have to share the same attribute, and the ability ties them to my Wis and grants me maxed ranks. I'd thought about climb and swim, but didn't know what the group was going to need skills-wise.

I'm planning on a traveling garden and a couple traveling bee hives for my cart; they're from ACG but I don't think they're on the SRD yet. I have one spell from Ultimate Wilderness:

Alpha Instinct:
School enchantment (charm) [mind-affecting]; Level bard 3,
druid 2, medium 2, mesmerist 3, ranger 2, shaman 2
Casting Time 10 minutes
Components V, S, M (a bit of musk from an alpha wolf or another
socially dominant animal)
Range personal
Target you
Duration 1 hour/level (D)
Animals perceive you as a social superior. The starting attitude of
animals you interact with improves by one step, and you gain a +2
morale bonus on Handle Animal checks. Helpful animals provide
simple assistance (such as using the aid another action on skill
checks they understand) as long as the spell lasts, but they flee
from attacks and do not support you in combat. At one point during
the spell’s duration, you can issue a nonverbal command to helpful
animals within 60 feet to forage for you; the animal or animals
immediately head out into the wilderness to do just that. After
1 hour, the animals return to the location where you issued the
command to make you an offering of edible food sufficient for one
meal for you and a number of others equal to your caster level.

And since all the cool kids are doing it...

I'll spoiler my Build Stuff:
Lulu should make a decent back-up healer, and could possibly squeak by as a main healer if she memorized cures. Taking Life as her wandering spirit gets her 4 channels a day. Between her wandering spirit, shaman spells, and switchable teamwork feat, she can change to fit different needs any given day.

She's also pretty focused on dealing with animals, and could make a decent face. Her bluff and diplomacy are only 10's, and she can potentially talk to just about anything with Xenoglossy (she does need a 12 or better, though). She has Wild Empathy and Vermin Heart, and she can outright talk to animals with her witch hex.

She can definitely help with food, too. If we need to live off the land, she has a good survival. And she can supplement with her Allfood spell in emergencies.

Lulu is not going to be great in combat, however. I should be able to get a decent AC, after I do equipment...and I might swap out Pumpernickel's first feat for light armor prof, so he can wear some barding.

As for Bitterbeak and Pumpernickel... The bird probably won't do a whole lot. And giant weasel is not exactly the most powerful companion option, but who could say no to Pumpernickel's fwoofy cheeks and his OH MY GOD HE'S EATING A HORSE..! Don't look at that. He doesn't deal much damage, but his bite does do 1 Con bleed, and he does have the Maneuver trick for grapple, so he has a chance to bite/grab/pin a foe for someone else to coup de grace.

Rules question... Do natural attacks count as finesse weapons under the feat tax rules? Pumpernickel has a higher Dex than Str.

Woooo! So excited!

I haven't done equipment yet, but a lot of my stuff would go on or stay in the cart, and I might still spring for a hireling to help out.

Good luck!

Everything but my crunch is finished, and I favorited the post from page 2.

Appearance:
Lulubelle is an unusual and distinctive halfling woman, standing a hair over three feet, and weighing a waifish 28 pounds. Her pale skin is almost milk-white and smooth as porcelain, with her face framed by tangles of raven-black hair in dire need of brushing and a trim. Her eyes are just a little too big, with a glassy sheen to them. Her irises are thin rings dark brown around widely-dilated pupils. If she sat perfectly still, one could almost mistake her for a large, creepy-looking doll.

She dresses most often in ratty, tattered clothes that have been stitched, patched, and sewn numerous times. Lulubelle tends to favor a colorful traveling outfit of purples and blues, with a dull mauve longcoat that’s just a little too big for her, and a matching tophat -- both patched with gaudy, mismatched fabrics.

(More to come)

Personality:
WIP

Background:
Lulubelle Breitling tipped her head back and drained the last swig of mead from her mug, her third in the last hour, and slammed it on the table with an unladylike belch. Instead of getting more she wisely reached for the tea kettle, hoping the bitter herbs would wash away the cloying sweetness.

”So, what do ya wanna know..?” she asked the figure seated across from her. ”I dunno… Why d’you even wanna know about me? I’m not a big fancy adventurer-er, not yet anyway. I’m gonna be! Then I’ll have a story! But...you wanna know where I’ve been so far? Ok...”

Lulubelle tapped her chin and thought. ”Well, I guess I’m from Nisroch, down in Nidal. I dunno if I’m from-from there, but it’s the first place I ever remember being.” She took a long sip from her tea, while it was still warm. ”I remember the slave auctions. They used ta parade us out and there was talkin’ an’ shouting...but nobody ever wanted the funny-lookin’ halfling kid. But eventually I got sold to some Kuthite priests with a bunch of others, and I grew up in the temple. It was pretty bad, but I guess it coulda been worse. They had me cleaning and scrubbing all the drains, gutters, and crawlspaces…you know?” She propped her elbow on the table, and her chin in her palm. ”Anyway, there were always rats n’ bugs n’ things in the walls, but there were some pretty nice hiding places in there. The smells were pretty bad, and some nights the other slaves made me sleep on the other side of the pen. Sometimes I’d hide all night in the walls, and curl up with the rats! They were pretty nice.”

An odd smile crossed her lips, almost nostalgic. It melted away as quickly as it came. ”Yeah...anyway, I was mostly underfoot, out of sight, and kinda ignored a lotta the time. The first time I escaped it was way easier than I thought it would be! But Nisroch is big an’ everyone’s mean, an’ I guess there ain’t a lotta halflings that look like me.” Lulubelle gave an exaggerated shrug, and sipped her luke-warm tea. ”I escaped like three or four times. It took some time an’ practice -- and you don’t even wanna know how long it takes fingernails to grow back! -- but I ran away for good. I thought Nisroch was the world back then, thought I’d always be running an’ hiding. But there was a gate, an’ boats, an’ wagons an'they hadda be going somewhere! I stowed away on one of the carts, just hid right in a crate… I got caught a couple times, but did you know if you sit really still, don’t breathe and don’t even blink...people think you’re just a toy!

“...Well, they think I’m a toy, anyway.” She drank her cold tea and frowned, and topped it off to freshen it up. ”Outside was SO nice! Trees, grass, birds n’ bugs, the whole big shebang! I thought I’d be in so much trouble when those guys saw me out and movin’ around, but they were just scared. The ones that saw me move got laughed at by the ones that didn’t, and one night they just left me on the side of the road.”

Lulu paused to drop a few sugar cubes into her cup, to get the bitter taste out of her mouth. ”I wandered, I met people. Found out about towns an’ things, and places,” she sighed. ”Boring stuff, fun stuff… I got to Varisia, I like it here. But the carnival menagerie was my favorite! Colorful wagons, colorful people doing tricks and things, so many different animals! They were sad though, all in cages...but I got to stay with them. The people were nice, they’d let me work, they paid me an’ fed me, and we traveled everywhere and saw everything!

“That’s where I met Pumpernickel and Bitterbeak.” Lulubelle lifted up her tophat to show off the colorful parrot perched on her head. ”WAAK!!” the bird screeched, wings aflutter. ”GOTOSLEEP! GOTOSLEEP! WAAK!!” She set the hat back down. ”I dunno where the weasel wandered off to. But that’s Bitterbeak, he’s not just a parrot y’know, he’s my spirit guide! He taught me all about magic an’ stuff, and he whispers secrets to me, and we got a real connection, y’know?”

”Waak! Hateyou! Hateyou!! Waak!” Came the muffled response under the hat.

”I hate you too, li’l guy,” she said with genuine tenderness. ”What were we talking about? Ooh yeah! The carnival. I was with them for years an’ years. I learned so much! We went so many places! I got to tend the menagerie, train and feed and clean the animals, all that stuff. We had bears, and lions, an’ tigers an’...horses! Some with stripes, some with spots an’ long necks. We had heffalumps, too. On show nights some other guy pretended he was the tamer, whipped them like a big meanie, and made them do tricks. I didn’t like that part. And the animals didn’t like it either…”

Lulu leaned across the table. ”They were slaves! Just like I’d been!” she whispered, and sat up straight. ”Also everyone got really, REALLY mad at me when I set them all free.” She rolled her doll-like eyes. ”Maybe also ‘cause the lions ate the other tamer guy. And maybe I stole his coat an’ hat. And I might have accidentally told the lions to eat him...and the knife-throwing guy, ‘cause he was mean to the bearded lady… Anyway! I had to leave the carnival after that, and Sandpoint, and most of the animals went their own ways. Except Pumpernickel and of course Bitterbeak.”

”Waak!”

She looked around the tavern, still not sure where Pumpernickel was. She was sure he would have snuck in, after the mean guy realized what a bad idea it was to make her put him in the stable with the horses…

She sighed and sipped her cold, too-sweet tea. ”That’s when I became an adventurer! Me, and Bitterbeak, and Pumpernickel the Giant Wonder Weasel! We made friends sometimes, and went to caves and ruins, and saved towns from monsters and mean people. It was a lot of fun! One of the ruins Bitterbeak and Pumpernickel didn’t like, it had all kinds of ghost people, y’know? Pumpernickel hid in the woods outside...I told Bitterbeak he could too, but he said he hadda stay with me ‘cause it was important.” Lulubelle paused, but her hat was quiet. Her tone was much softer, now. ”Most of my friends got scared wandering through that place. Some of them ran away… I think our fighty-guy peed himself. Pretty soon it was just me and the ghosts. Some were pretty mad, some were just scared. They were slaves too, you know..? But their chains were also ghosts, I guess. I couldn’t set them free...I really tried, but I could only save a few of them.”

Lulubelle shrugged. ”Bitterbeak said not to do it, but I let some of the spirits hide inside me so I could smuggle them out. That’s how I got my brain-friends! They teach me things, too. Bitterbeak gets jealous now that I have more spirit-friends, but he’s still my spirit guide so it’s okay.”

She poured herself some more tea, and sat back in her seat. ”So…” she said. ”Can I go north with your caravan?”

Crunch:
Pending! Lulubelle Breitling is a Halfling with the Creepy Doll alternate race trait; Hunter//Shaman with the Possessed Shaman archetype, and no hunter archetype. Her spirit animal is a Parrot familiar named Bitterbeak, and her hunter animal companion is a Giant Weasel named Pumpernickel.

I'm (Zaboom!) working on a Halfling Hunter//Something, leaning pretty heavily on Wild Empathy/Diplomancy/Gardening, if that helps.
