Male Human Inquisitor

Next week looks to be a bit too packed for me (I'll be coming back from vacation mid-week). But Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of the week after should be great. Dave, hopefully you can grab Paul at work and make him agree to one of those days.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

I'm fine with those three options, as long as our sessions get fixed. We've got rise of the goblin guild reported, although we didn't get started on it, as well as two sessions of severing ties.

Fuskee, let us know if one of those options work for you, thanks!

Would it be possible to run Ben's character like an NPC?

Lucent closely follows behind Linux into the room, trying to let the warpriest draw all the attention. He spots the snake moving in from the side and looses his arrow at it.

"A couple dead bodies ought to aid in the appearance of a sabotage..." Lucent whispers, once the rest of the party joins him in the hallway. He prepares for a fight by drawing his bow and casting Divine Favor on himself.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent continues searching for something to sabotage. He stops outside a door and has a listen before going in.
Perception to listen: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Assuming he hears nothing, he takes a look inside and pokes around.
Perception to search the room: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

"I'll take the lead. Hopefully won't set off more traps..."
Lucent takes his time and quietly moves up to the central room, while listening for voices or footsteps. If he hears nothing, he signals for the rest of the group to follow. He then inspects the tables and shipping crate, checking to see if it is labeled and can be opened.
Stealth Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

As the basilisk blood is absorbed into the statue-that-is-Lucent, his flesh and clothing softens and finally regains its natural form. He blinks hard and stretches, giving his neck a crack.
"Ugh... So stiff... like I slept on a rock." He looks around as he gets his senses back, and sees Linux looking half-dead. "Linux, did you slaughter that beast on your own? My memory is foggy, but I think you saved our lives! Let me aid you while you rest a moment."
Lucent flicks his Wand of Cure Light Wounds out of his wrist sheath and fixes Linux up while he recounts the glorious battle.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

I know Linux was at 2/13 HP, but I don't know about anyone else, so just shout if you need heals.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

If you look underneath the tokens, you'll see that there's a doorway between him and the basilisk. A page or so ago, Fuskee stated that all the cage doorways are open, save for the one to the hallway, which we opened by force. Lucent thinks, in a stony, out-of-character fashion.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent rallies his allies with silent words of encouragement: "..."

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent holds his ground in the most statuesque way possible.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent continues to be a statue, and mentally cheers on his allies.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent continues to ponder his situation, as there is nothing more he can do: I hope Raphael doesn't blame himself for not being able to warn me to look away... He couldn't have stopped it. One second I was looking at a wall, and the next, those big beautiful basilisk eyes. I never would have thought to look away until it was too late...
Sure wish I could scratch my nose right now...

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

As the stone magic begins to work on his mind, Lucent starts to think about how much he likes statues, and how becoming one wouldn't be so bad. If only he had gotten time to pose...

Male Human Inquisitor

Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Lucent finds that he can't seem to look away from the lizard. In fact, he can't seem to move at all, or even breathe...

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Responding to Eradan's and Raphael's observations, Lucent responds, "Yes, it's a hallway, I can see that. But what is around the corner?"
Lucent casts Guidance, and quietly moves to the end of the hallway, (at half-speed, of course) and peeks around the corner.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent whispers to Eradan, "Want to scout ahead? Slip down to the end of this hallway and see if you can hear anyone."
With a small gesture, Lucent casts Guidance on Eradan to give him +1 on his next check.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"Well said! Let's be off, as the hour grows late!"
Lucent hurries on toward the "Seven Needles".

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"Raphael, have you had time to inspect this dagger or mug? If they have magical properties, we may be able to use them to our own advantage." Lucent looks them over and ponders.
"Perhaps we should just keep these and deliver non-magical items to the Lissalans? Or worse, cursed items! Maybe just boxes of dung! That'd be sure to harm relations!"
Lucent calms back down a bit and says to Raphael, "You could be right though... perhaps we just need to scout the safe house and figure it out as we go?"

Lucent wonders if there really are any shops where one might pawn magical items and purchase cursed ones...
Untrained Knowledge (local): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"Consider it done. The Lissalans shall have these gifts and our best wishes." Lucent says, ulterior-motively.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent politely refuses the wine from the serving girl. "Thank you, I'm not thirsty" he says to her.
In response to Shorafa's outburst, Lucent replies, "Yes, I understand... You wish that you could bribe a few agents and make all your debt disappear. But you must realize it doesn't work like that. We have superiors who are expecting real payment. What would we bring them? Stories of the wonderful time we enjoyed here? I think you understand why giving us the dagger is the only real solution."

Diplo check?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Lucent flashes his badge. "Aspis Consortium agents, m'am. We're here to collect on a debt. A missive was delivered here stating that we'll be taking a magical item as payment tonight" he explains, in his best authoritative voice.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"Strictly business today, I'm afraid" Lucent says with a chuckle. "Is there someone in charge here, by chance?"

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Although severely discouraged, Lucent makes one more attempt at the contest...
Barstool Lift: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Six Cup Balance: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
...and fails once again to hold the stool up.

Male Human Inquisitor

Although still embarrassed by his previous fiasco, Lucent tries to make a better attempt at fitting in. "Cayden Cailean, forgive my transgressions! I make this attempt in your name!"
He scoops up a barstool...
STR Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
but seems to have pulled something after trying to lift a table before.
Assuming that fails, but if not...

If he can lift it:

Lucent asks for six cups and tries to balance them...
DEX Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Lucent gives Linux a friendly elbow. "Desna's luck will see us through!" Lucent's fingertips glow as he traces the Guidance spell before picking up a table with both hands and lifting it above his head.
STR + 1 from Guidance: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
"SIX CUPS!"
DEX: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Lucent has a bad feeling that he may have over-exerted himself, as his knees begin to buckle and the table tips dangerously.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"Ah, a contest, you say? It wouldn't be a contest without some sort of prize, would it? Let me have a go!"
When Lucent gets a chance to whisper to the others, he says "If we can fit in, we may be able to find where they keep this sacred mug..."

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

Before leaving for the Publican House, Lucent stashes the bicorn in his pack and tosses the scroll to the warpriest.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"Sorry to say, but I haven't studied the finer points of spellcraft... Raphael, what can you determine about these items?"

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor

"We'll keep an eye out for any potions to restore your strength, Linux. If we're lucky, the priests of this temple may have stored one away for such an emergency." Lucent searches the room, using detect magic to assist in looking for magical items. If there's nothing to be found, he suggests the party heads down the stairs in the back.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Backed into a corner, Lucent forgoes attacking, and focuses on dodging the creature's claws, trusting his allies to aid him.

Back in Magnimar, Lucent picked up a few supplies for the adventure.

The supplies he was going to buy last time:
20 Arrows - 1gp
20 Blunt Arrows - 2gp
Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheath - 5gp
2 Flasks of Alchemist's Fire - 40gp

The morning before arriving in Riddleport, Lucent uses his Misdirection class ability to detect as Lawful Evil alignment.

Once the party arrives in Jenk's office, Lucent steps forward to address the busy man by bowing and speaking in a cool, hissing voice, "I am the one called Thestil Shadowtongue, sir. At your service..."

"Infiltrating the enemy's rank... an excellent way to root out villainy!"
As Raphael and Eradan have already asked the questions on Lucent's mind, he waits patiently for Sheila Heidmarch's response.

Lucent gives himself a tour of the house, in his usual long-striding manner. First he goes through the cozy room with the chairs and fireplace just north of the dining room, then walks through the hallway and pops into the kitchen. First 40' move
Still not smelling any freshly cooked food, he leaves the kitchen heading south past Matarn and inspects the living room. Second 40' move

Lucent is done for the day. Looks like he had a spot of bad luck and only talked to the boring, non-gossiping locals.
He loads his Wand of CLW into his wrist sheath and winds up the spring with a satisfying *click*.

I made a slight adjustment between adventures. Moved one skill point from stealth to diplomacy.

"A pleasure to be adventurin' with these fine companions again! And we thank you kindly for your hospitality, Lady-Captain Heidmarch."
Lucent cheerfully heads down to the cottage known as Bakrakhan House and picks a bed for himself.
"Still some time left in the day, lads. I believe I'll head to the nearest armory and get myself a few supplies. See you at dinner!"
Lucent walks around town for 1d4 ⇒ 1 hours, talking to locals and shopping at the market.

Nearing the river's edge, and with no time to judge its depth, he hurls himself over to the far bank...
