Background:

Losian Ridere was born to a minor noble Aedanian house, and his youth was filled with plenty of adventure. His natural talent for singing brought him much favour among the residents of Sun’s Gift, the ancestral home of House Ridere, and his earliest memories are of entertaining his father’s houseguests with tales of his ancestor’s exploits. Hunting trips with his father taught his how to steady his breath when shooting a bow. The hours spent drilling with the house weapon master taught him how to use a blade, although his unorthodox adaptation of the bladedancing style was often frowned upon. Indeed, the young boy showed much promise and seemed destined to continue the proud soldiering tradition established by his forefathers.

Losian’s life changed drastically one fateful night, not long after his 14th birthday. A lone Irifarnian traveller claiming to be an emissary en route to Aedangard had arrived at Sun’s Gift late one afternoon requesting lodging for the night. Losian had spent the afternoon hunting deer in the nearby vale, and returned home long after the sun had left the sky. As he approached the outer walls of the keep, he noticed a strange glow emanating from the common room. Losian burst through the door to find a grisly scene. This stranger had murdered the house servants, and had drawn their entrails out into some kind of twisted symbol upon the floor. Ghostly apparitions glowing with a sickly yellow light were emerging from the corpses, their faces contorted in expressions of pain and anguish. The traveller turned and looked upon Losian, his wild eyes glowing with the same light and his mouth twisted into an insane grin. The boy, frozen in horror, could do nothing as the Irifarnian approached him. He raised his hand, now twisted into a wicked claw, and muttered words unintelligible to the young boy. Maddening voices roared inside Losian’s mind, and a fiery pain burned in the back of his skull. He could feel himself losing consciousness, and the sweet comfort of sleep took him soon after.

A gentle voice woke Losian hours later. A group of heavily armoured men and women were moving purposefully about the keep, two of which were deep in conversation with his parents. A contingent of Paladins, worshippers of Veyek and protectors of the meek, had been hunting this insane mage for weeks. It seemed they had caught up to him just in time. Upon speaking with his saviours, Losian made up his mind. He would join the Order of Veyek, and dedicate his life to protecting those who needed it throughout the baronies.

Upon completing his tenure as a squire, Losian set out on his own. Unable to bring himself to be shackled to any one particular army, he ended up falling in with a mercenary unit known as Drover’s Dreadnoughts. He enjoyed the life of a mercenary, and the freedom to choose his own way as opposed to following the strict orders of a military structure. He has recently acquired an enchanted blade, which seems to have the ability to draw the very life from an opponent to bolster its wielder. Losian is unsure as to whether or not this magic comes with a price, but the blade (he calls it Aestelan, the life-stealer) has proven its use in a number of skirmishes.

Physical Description: Losian is of average height for an Aedanian, standing at just under 6 feet. He has an athletic build, piercing blue eyes and a wild mane of brown hair.
