While the others look over Terry, Lorena goes back in to drag the other figure out.
"Be careful, we're dealing with some strong magic here." Lorena returns to the silenced room to drag out the other figure, presumably Firinn.
Still cloaked in the shadows, Lorena moves up to the doorway where the others are. "Looks like we found Terry and probably Firinn in that room over there. But what's going on out there?"
Oblivious to the danger outside, Lorena picks up Terry's motionless body and brings it towards the door. Setting him down just outside of the silenced zone, she notices something amiss and grabs her spear.
Lorena starts in shock as the figure's face is revealed to be that of their missing comrade. Cautiously, she shakes him a little to see if he will have any reaction, aware that things may not quite be as they seem.
Lorena seems to fade into the shadows as she enters the silenced room. She moves over carefully towards the figures, trying to get a better look at who or what exactly they may be.
"Well, I guess he can't hear us, then. Let's follow."
"Ah. Yes, I can use these. Thanks." Though, why would ghouls be carrying curing wands? Did they belong to the people they had been before they turned into ghouls? Either way, Lorena stows the wands away and readies herself, eyes and ears open for any more trouble.
I feel the same way Purple does is that the abilities are meant to be used and items took. It is like playing video games and finishing with a full stack of the best weapons ammo because you never used it "just in case" Oh, yes, that is exactly what happens when I play video games :)
Fading to black after the ghoul's vicious assault, Lorena found herself sluggishly wandering in the shadow lands again, the din of battle barely audible in the distance. After what seemed like an eternity, she once again came across the shadowy figure that haunted her dreams. While in body, it still resembled her own form, the voice had changed - echoing with an otherworldly power, equal parts honey and rage, filling the tiefling with dread as she approached wearily. "You...I gave you all those gifts, and for what? For you to go out and fight like a brute? I'm disappointed. Luckily for you, I don't give up on my investments so easily. Now go, and make use of all your talents, or you may not be so lucky next time." With that, Lorena wakes up to Khaz standing over her, closing the worst of her wounds up with his divine power. Once she's able to stand again, she says her thanks and finishes up the healing job on herself, but stays silent otherwise, mulling over her fever dream.
Uhh. Not sure where you're getting those numbers from. I'm assuming that both blue and green ghouls and one of the babaus attacked me (I believe that one of them was in range of me, while the other was in range of Jocasta, with people in between so both couldn't target one or the other). With AC 17, that's both of green ghoul's attacks and one of either of the demon's attacks hitting. I was at 28 HP, so that's -17 from the ghoul and either -17 or -16 from the demon, so I'd be down to -6 or -5, respectively, after that round, with both paralysis and disease saves from the green ghoul's bite failed.
Lorena manages to land a hit on the other ghoul as it moves past her, but that leaves her open to the first one's counterstrike. She grunts in pain as the flail connects with her body, though the blow is softened by her shadow cloak. She takes a step back and tries another blow, but the pain throws off her coordination.
Lorena moves down to intercept the fancy-looking ghoul while the rest of the party deals with the demon and other ghouls.
Filled with her divine power, Lorena moves up through the line, aiming her spear at the greenish ghoul's rotting body and thrusting away.
"Look out!" Lorena calls out as she sees figures coming through the doors. "They don't seem friendly." She casts a spell on herself, radiating an ominous energy through her shadow cloak, then prepares to defend herself.
"Come on, we can clean it up when we're done. There are more important things to do right now." Lorena looks about the chapel for anything that might be hidden under the mess.
With the gargoyle threat gone, Lorena briefly picks up a chunk of stone and examines it before dropping it as it dissolves into dust and following. "Doesn't look good for the priests here", she mutters as she gazes over the decrepit temple.
Flight's the big one! So I can swing my spear around while flying ;)
Yep, "swinging her spear around" is pretty much what Lorena does right now. :) Next level will be more fun.
Oof, sorry for missing a turn. Work has been weird lately.
Lorena watches as the gargoyles land and the initial salvo of attacks cracks them both open. Not feeling the need to expend any of her spells, she moves in to try and finish off Khaz's job, though perhaps her strike is a bit too relaxed...
"Well, mostly spear. Unless one of you look like you're about to fall over." Lorena smiles as she readies her usual weapon. It's hard to make out exactly what she's got through her constantly-shifting shadow cloak, but her spears and long-nailed hands noticeably poke through.
After following Khaz over the top of the cliff, Lorena stays silent as she surveys the newcomers and the nearby church from the safety of her shadow armor. She nods slightly as the dwarf introduces her, but her attention seems to be elsewhere.
Err. Just noticed from both of your statlines. We're actually level 6, with 1 mythic tier. Seems like both of you built level 7 characters.
Hi, welcome! Seldlon, I'd suggest a full arcane caster of some kind, since I think that's the only thing we lack at the moment. But, in the end, build what you think you'd enjoy :)
Not looking back, Lorena scales up the rest of the way, stopping just below the top for the rest to catch up.
Having learned the ropes after her close call, Lorena makes it up the second part of the climb a bit more easily. Along the way, she looks up and around for any sign of the flying figure, though she can't spare too much effort.

"On it." Lorena's semi-blank look has been replaced with one of grim determination as she begins her ascent up Terry's pitons...though she doesn't quite seem to get how they work.
Sounds about right, yeah.
Since leaving the tower, Lorena has stayed mostly silent, giving little more than a word or two in reply to anyone. It's clear that Firinn's disappearance is troubling her. In all her years, this was the first dependable group of allies - friends, even - that she'd come across. And now one of them just vanished into thin air... In any case, the tiefling goes along with the motions of life, not letting her mood affect her readiness to fight. As night approaches and the army prepares to set up camp, Lorena pulls herself out of her silence, offering to help keep watch overnight.
Khaz's last post was #666 and we just can't let that stay for too long in a WotR thread :) Quick update, I just finished my 2nd week (and got my first paycheck, yay) and while it's been tiring, I think (or perhaps hope) I'm getting used to it. I'll try to slowly return to being more active going forward, but there are still going to be late days where I get home and just want to crash, so don't expect too much just yet. I might end up having to drop a game or two to help out, but it won't be this one. And, Terry, yeah, that sucks. My family is going through a medical emergency of our own right now too - I can't help too much considering the circumstances, but everyone else is having a really tough time as well. Hopefully everything is fine and all goes well.
Lorena stays quiet, growing a bit uneasy as she scans around for signs of Firinn but doesn't see him anywhere.
Crossposting this in all my active games: Sorry about being a bit inactive recently. Barring some last-minute change, I'm going to be starting a new job soon. I'd wanted to wait until all the details were officially confirmed to inform everyone, but things are starting to pick up again after the holidays and they've understandably been a bit slow about it, so I'm just posting now. I'd still like to continue on playing, but it'll be a big adjustment for me to make and I don't know how much time and energy I'll have. I'll probably continue being slow to respond for a few more weeks at least, so feel free to bot me if I'm holding things up or haven't posted for a while. I'll probably get back and make a final decision on whether or not I can continue on once I get settled down, we'll see. Hopefully that's okay, thanks.
"Perhaps he's outside making sure none of the tieflings try to flee in here." Lorena follows Jocasta out and follows her gaze across the battlefield.
"Cultists of Deskari, looks like...but, burnt to death? Hm. Was it the wardstones? No, the tiefling army outside is still..." She takes a look out the window to see the paladin army chasing down the stragglers. "...well, was intact. Someone got here before us, it seems." She heads over to the desk and takes a look to see if she can make out anything on the burnt papers, or whatever else is left.
Still hidden in her shadow cloak, Lorena follows Khaz into the sitting room, taking a closer look at the table and the papers on it while keeping an eye and ear on the staircase, in case anyone is coming down.
Lorena follows Khaz, but a lot more slowly and stealthily, keeping to any shadows as best she can.

As the group gets set to move, Lorena calls on her magic in preparation. Wisps of shadow form from her fingertips and coalesce in the shape of a robe around her, continually shifting and hiding her features within. Even to her allies right next to her, she seems to fade away before their eyes...
Lorena looks on a bit in awe as the army organizes and settles down. She's never been around such a large group of people in the wild, let alone such a disciplined one, and she's not used to it. Either way, she doesn't have much of a head for tactics, still, so she lets the others offer their opinions and does whatever is needed of her.
"There's only one thing that can mean, demons have been here. We should be careful; watch out for an ambush." With that, Lorena follows Firinn ahead.
Lorena shakes her head as Horgus once again appears out of nowhere. Speaking under her breath to nobody in particular, in a voice small enough that nobody out of her personal space can hear, she complains: "Not this fool again...well, at least maybe he'll have to make himself useful this time." She is very relieved to see Khaz trot over and talk to him, so that the rest of them don't have to.
Something like Khaz as the overall leader of the expedition, with the paladarmy having its own commander for when Khaz isn't around, perhaps. That way we can give the army general orders and let them resolve the specifics on their own.
"Of course." Lorena nods at Sosiel, though she has no intention of following through with his offer. Then, as the conversation turns once again to strategy and tactics, she keeps quiet, though it's clear she's paying attention to what the others are scheming up.
Lorena'a displeasure at Khaz's suggestion plays over her face rather obviously. "An army of paladins and companions handpicked by the Queen. Do you really think they wouldn't catch that sooner? Besides, it's probably best if we don't tarry. I don't think everyone would be impressed by us sitting around doing nothing for a day. But if you think it's best...you're the commander."
Lorena nods at Sosiel, hiding her slight annoyance at being singled out in public. "Yes - demon-spawn, specifically, or so I've been told." She shrugs at the rest. "Perhaps they are, but the only tieflings I've seen around lately are cultists. They also seem to fight hard and devoutly, not that it does them any good." She smiles, perhaps a bit too proud of her little joke.
