F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Just double-moving, staying above ship.

Ligeia stays on deck as some of the others move below and pick off the stragglers. She moves closer towards the mutineers, glowering both at their cowardice and at their huddled whispers. Drawing her whip, her expression changes to being a combination of sweet and sad, and she pouts as she points the whip at the one who had seemed to be the leader. "This is what you wanted. Don't tell me you're getting cold feet now."

HP: 27/38

"That could have gone better." Ligeia mumbles, looking at the series of holes in her midsection. Reaching into her bag, she pulls out a small wand, and hums a soft tune as she moves it over the wounds.

Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

The majority of them close up instantly, leaving only a few places where the shrapnel has still pierced the skin. Glaring, she turns over towards the mutineers. "Fat load of good you lot were." She points towards the stairs. "Go on, check the lower decks."

HP: 34/38

Getting shot, mesmerising a sailor.

That's okay! I didn't realise it offhand, either. We're certainly learning, haha. Besides, it'll make Ligeia look like a total boss to take shrapnel in the stomach without flinching. DEMORALIZE ACTIONS EVERYWHERE.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Actually, since I'm on board without "fins to feet", anyway, I can't move far enough to not get shot, and I'm pretty sure I'll still get hit even if I drop prone, so.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Oh I thought I could go above. What's the green line, then? Maps are hard.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Thread wasn't showing me new posts for some reason...

Ligeia quickly moves out of the way of Coranzen's blast, finding a place to stand, further from the chaos. Narrowing her eyes at one of the sailors, she whispers to him, her voice carried on the waves. "You belong to me," she says simply.

Activating Compelling Voice (Hypnotic Stare). Crewman takes a -2 on Will Saves, and +2 damage from anyone attacking him

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Ligeia's face lights up as the corpses begin climbing up the side of the boat. "Oh! The actual cavalry has arrived!" She smiles at the horrified faces of the others in the rowboat. "Move quickly, my friends, before others take your opportunity for revenge."

As the rowboat moves closer to the ship, Ligeia leaps off (into the water first, if the crew is too afraid to approach) and begins clambering up the side of the ship after Hai-Jun.

Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Ligeia glares daggers at the ship as it fires towards them. "You'd dare fire on me?" She murmurs, rage building in her dark heart. "How fitting that the last act of the 'Men's Promise' should be a terrible mistake."

Turning towards the Half-Orc, she tries to keep the venom from her voice. "Stay on course, I'll see if I can give them a better target."

Looking over the side of the boat into the ocean, Ligeia's eyes spot the wreck of a warship in the depths. She studies the image for a second, burning it into her mind, before letting her eyes refocus on the surface of the water. "Rise one last time." She commands the forgotten ship. "Rise and strike fear into the hearts of cowards."

After a moment, a ship looking strikingly like the one that Ligeia saw under the waves comes from the fog to the north, on a direct course for the ship currently firing on them.

She smiles at the crew in an attempt to settle their nerves. "Help, in a manner of speaking, is on the way."

tldr, casting Silent Image of a 50ft warship the opposite direction from us to try and distract / confuse / panic the people shooting at us. Maybe they'll, you know, shoot at that instead.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Ligeia studies the would-be mutineers for a moment, thinking that their plan is probably poorly-thought-out at best. As noble as their motives may or may not be, it seemed as though they had no idea where the loyalties of the rest of the crew would lay. Still, infighting would give the rest of her own crew time to get into position...

"Okay," she says after a moment. "Let's go. I'll help you with your problem and you can help me with mine."

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Ligeia cocks her head. "If there's only two of them, you needn't be concerned for my safety. What did they do?"

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

"Wait," Ligeia calls as they begin to move towards the ship. "Perhaps I can help you.. It should be only fair, if you'll rescue me from this situation. Besides, I fear neither bloodshed nor pain. Especially in the name of new friends. Speaking of which, my name is Ligeia." Her eyes flick between each member of the party in greeting, with a smile on her face, before returning to the leader. "Now, tell me, who are the men you seek to kill?"

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Ligeia nods to Sinmara with a wicked grin, and makes her way up the beach through the water, before moving onto land in the shadow of the ship. Leting the sand and water combine to make her hair look disheveled, she lies in wait for some sailors to come within earshot, before calling to them.

Bluff w/ Silver Tongue: 1d20 + 16 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 16 + 5 = 33

"Over here." she cries, and as they approach, Please... I'm stuck. I've been out of the sea for too long and the waves are stronger than I am now. I can't swim back out. Would you bring me aboard when you leave, and toss me off into the sea?" She smiles seductively, a look that betrays nothing of her nature, but rather, suggests that the reward for their rescue of her would be untold pleasures. "I'd really appreciate it."

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

The stone of Ligeia's expression cracks into mock dismay at the name of the ship. "Man's promise?" She mutters, turning towards Sinmara. "That certainly won't do, sister. We'll have to rename it." Her mouth spreads into a smile, one far too wide that betrays her razor-sharp teeth. "Man's blood comes to mind."

At Sinmara's continued discussion of roles, Ligeia lets out an exaggerated sigh, feeling forced to put aside her ideas of fun. With a frown, she looks out towards the boat. "I do believe they'll be setting off soon. Perhaps I should go and... delay them? Give our friends time to get into position." She smiles. "And then strike from within. After all, can't have them trying to run off before we're finished with them. That's the true 'man's promise'."

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I'd eat people.

Gonna get my alias filled out tomorrow. Let me know if there's a specific ship role I should take and I can rearrange skill points.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Captain - Sinmara
Boatswan - Kyanos
Carpenter / Surgeon - Coranzen(?)
Master Gunner - Coranzen(?)
Master-at-arms - Hai-Jun

Undecided - Reefclaw

Maybe I'll take Cook and/or Quartermaster?

@Ligeia: Yes you may! You may choose either of those as a replacement for the Raven. Naturally you will be a 'That animal' Lord instead in game though. Does sound veeeery interesting.

Cool, thanks! As long as we don't call me PussLord I'm fine with that, haha.

GM Bird wrote:
I'd post it all here but I'm afraid that might break a rule for paizo.

It's on the SRD so I think it should be fine.

GM Bird wrote:
That said! Actual, real magical items are veeeery rare in this setting. This is because I want to be able to give my players one or two items through out the campaign and basically have everyone react as if I have given you Excalibur...

I love this idea, but it also makes me a bit uncertain about what we should do with our starting gold. Should we stick to enhancement bonuses and not anything beyond that, or are those uncommon as well? Am I right in imagining that Wands are also very uncommon?

Query:

The Harbinger from Path of War expanded has a Ravenlord archetype that I really like, but obviously a bird companion isn't... it doesn't... it would drown. Would it be okay if I either a) changed the stats slightly (giving it a swim speed and claws instead of talons) or b) chose a different animal that's more suited? I had been thinking Octopus or Shark.

@Ligeia: The Kua Toa use the same racial stats as the 3.5 race you could become. I will be bumping PC's who chose that race down from the maaaany stat boosts they get to a +2 too two stats of their choice aside from Dexterity but otherwise you'll get the same racial traits.

I'll also bump their natural armor bonus down to a simple +2. Ability to see invisibility, resistant to electricity, immunity to poison, +8 to escape artist, and +4 to perception. They lose the 'lightning bolt' racial ability but gain the 'secretion' ability as well, which lets them use alchemic items only their race can use, including a special one a defector from the military might be able to grab. They get a loooot of stuff. Let me know what your ideas are or if you have any questions!

So, like this?

Kua Toa:
Type - Humanoid (Aquatic)
Size - Medium
Speed - Land 20, Swim 50

Racial Ability Adjustments - A Kua Toa gains +2 to two stats of their choice except Dexterity.
Kua Toa Immunities - Kua Toa are immune to Poison
Armour - Kua Toa have a +2 natural armour bonus because of their thick scales.

Slippery - Kua Toa secrete an oily film that make them difficult to grapple or snare. They gain a +8 Racial Bonus to Escape Artist.
Keen Sight - Kua Toa have excellent vision due to their ability to use their eyes independently. They gain a +4 Racial Bonus to Perception.
Amphibious - A Kua Toa can breathe both air and water.

Darkvision - Kua Toa are used to the dark depths and have Darkvision 60 Ft.
Light Blindness - Abrupt exposure to bright light blinds the Kua Toa for 1 round. On subsequent rounds, they are dazzled as long as they remain in the affected area.

Secretion - Something about special Alchemical item usage?
See Invisibility?

GM Bird wrote:
Finally the Kua Toa do exist but if you wand to play one I'm going to need a veeeeeeery good story from you.

Okay, I'll bite. Go big or go home and all that. What are their racial stats like? Especially since, you know, Kua Toa aren't a thing in Pathfinder since they're owned by Wizards. I imagine you'd adapt the Skum or Sahuagin, but you may have something else in mind.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I believe I am entirely rebuilt.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Sorry Akula, Skald doesn't fit with my plans.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I'll also have a bit of healing from Inquisitor.

Ligeia, with both of us being bard-ish classes, I'm concerned that we may fall into redundancy. Would you mind giving me an idea of how you're planning to progress so I can build something divergent enough? Thankfully, Inspire Courage and Predator's Song overlap very nicely. If I gestalt into Swashbuckler, I'll be swapping Diplomacy for Intimidate, which will allow us to similarly be more distinct for social situation. (Good cop, bad cop.)

Oh sure - I certainly don't want to step on toes, either. We're definitely going to be taking different directions with it, I suspect. I'm planning on going heavy spellcasting - so if you're interested in going into Martial, that should totally be fine. Given our alignments and backgrounds, I also expect you'll be more helpful to others off the bat than I will be, haha.

I think I'll change my vote to a Yes on Gestalt, primarily for this reason, though. I hadn't realised we were doing such similar classes, and I don't want you to feel obligated to go in one direction or another on my account.

For what it's worth, with Gestalt, I'll probably swap my stats around a bit, and drop into Inquisitor, Oracle, or Magus. Almost certainly Inquisitor. And then something will get dropped around 6th for the Sea Witch Prestige Class.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I could go either way on gestalt.

Here's my submission of a Merfolk Siren.
