Kicker of Liches 10

Welcome players

This is my favourite part of GMing; where we build our world together, work out bonds, and set our scene.

If you haven’t already, please create your alias and post your character sheet there.

Please answer the following questions for your character. Please feel free to work out bonds amongst yourselves, you will need them before we begin.

After this round of questions establishing world details, I'll ask some targeted ones to get the actual river scene moving.

Don’t feel like you need to write an essay on these, a sentence or two should be fine.

Onick, the Human Paladin

  • Are there an Order of Paladins? Or are you the only one.
  • If the humans who lived in Chromia were peaceful and in harmony with nature, what are the humans from the North like?
  • What do the demons you've fought before look like?
  • What is your Holy Symbol, and what is your Quest?
  • Before you left the hermit, they gave you one part of a secret weapon against evil. What was it?

    Laguna, the Erze Dark Knight

  • Are the Erze common in this world? Do they have a society? Where do they live?
  • How did you come to wield your dark power? Is it common for the Erze, or is this power yours alone?
  • What do you remember of your past lives, if anything?
  • Issa was considered special in the valley of Chromia, bearing the symbol of Tormos, God of Truth and Light upon her forehead as a birthmark. What did the Elders of Chromia say was her destiny?
    .

Terren of the Hills, the Human Druid

  • How did the valley of Chromia become such a place of harmony with nature?
  • What is it like to be a druid in Chromia? Are you revered or eyed suspiciously?
  • What are the manabeasts, and how do locals interact with them?
  • Tell me what are the Four Guardian Beasts that protect the valley of Chromia?
  • Spirits of the forest often manifest as sprites or fluffy creatures to the denizens of Chromia, what are they called? and what purpose do they serve in the valley?

Rankev ‘Power’ Davis’, the Human Wizard

  • You’ve been trying to unlock the secret of Divine magic, is magic tied to the Gods in this world? Or does it come from someplace else?
  • How are wizards viewed in this world? Are you the only one? What unique appearance marks someone as a wizard? (Chromatic themes like Gandalf the Grey? Straw hats and blue robes? Etc.)
  • How do Wizards view the other schools of magic, such as Druidic, Bardic, or Divine?
  • The Great Library of Chromia was a sacred place for scholars, what piece of unique knowledge did you tender to gain entrance?

    Lewyn, the Elf Bard

  • What are the Elves of Galonde like? What sets them apart as unique among the mortal races.
  • In Chromia, humans rather than Elves live in harmony with nature. What relationship do Elves have with nature? Hostile? Utilitarian? Or something else…
  • Is the knowledge and magic you wield something unique to Lewyn? Or do other elves know these arts?
  • Speaking of which, what is your Bardic Lore? And where or how did you learn it?

  • 3 people marked this as a favorite.

An idyllic valley, with verdant forests, deep lakes, forgotten groves, and sloping hills hides an ancient village. In the valley of Chromia, mankind lives in harmony with nature and the spirits of the forest.

At least it did, until it was swallowed whole by the earth itself.

Washed up on the banks of a river, you awaken. In the distance you see the familiar hills now sundered in the Catastrophe. A sinkhole yawns in earth where Chromia once stood, and above it, floating in the sky, a crystal the size of a city bathes the landscape in a pink glow.

The world of Evermore will never be the same.

You’d have time to reflect, if not for the screams of a child ahead and the red sashed rebels you see approaching.

    *******************************

Welcome players, to the Chronicles of Chromia, a Dungeon World RPG. I know a lot of you are DW veterans, but If you haven’t played Dungeon World before, it’s simple, engaging, and an absolute riot to play. The rules are available for free online. A quick google search will steer you true.

In classic DW fashion, the world itself will be defined by you, the players. Where we go, what happened to Chromia, and what happens next will be revealed by your actions and input. That is, if you even cared for the damn place at all.

I have 4 -5 open slots for likeminded players to explore and build this world with. The inspiration and direction I’d like you to consider are from classic RPGs like Final Fantasy, The Secret of Mana, and so on.

You don’t need to have any experience in those games to join; in fact, the most important thing will be for you to look at the colour palette of them. That’s my inspiration for this world; one of colour, light, energy, and beauty. Dark deeds, betrayals, world-ending secrets and the like will play out against this rich colour.

I’m not asking you to play some goody-two-shoes animoo character. I’m just tired of bleak and desolate settings. Let’s play in one that’s overflowing.

I’m open to some third party playbooks, but I prefer the core classes (yes, that includes the Druid and the *gasp* Immolator). If there’s something you’ve got a real hankering to play, like a spell-sword, then let’s hash it out together with some tasteful multiclassing rather than just playing the Arcane Duelist class.

I’m easily swayed on new races. I love diverse groups.

Updates will be 3-4 times per week on my part. You know how these things go.

So tell me, your name, race, a short bio if you feel like it, and as a RP prompt, tell me what your character was doing in Chromia on the day before the Catastrophe. Feel free to roleplay it out with each other as well.

I’ll make a decision in about a fortnight.
