"They're good at pinning us down, I don't think they're used to targets that hit back as hard as we do," says Liam, keeping his shield up, "But, uff, remind me to look up the recipe for surging serum after this..."

Although he could reach better.. and it would help reduce the effect of the strength drain..
Liam activates one of the runes on his armor, and grows considerably in size. He reaches back to snap his mace towards the more injured creature first.

It would be better to focus on destroying one of them at a time... but Liam can't reach the injured one any longer. Okay. This one wants him to be closer? He can make it regret that, at least.

Teja, don't you use Dex for your Strikes? Enfeebled wouldn't penalize your attack rolls, just your damage.

Snared by all three of them, it seems that the only effective way to break out is to break their hold. By breaking them.

And if fire is especially effective it'll make more sense to hit them repeatedly rather then trying for a big hit... although as Liam's strength fails that does seem increasingly difficult to pull off.

He still holds up his shield and readies his defenses, in case it disagrees.

"I can also make some healing elixirs," he offers.

As they resume navigation, he's ready to climb. It may not quite be his specialty, but he's just as good at it.

"This is why you have a shield, Prentiss," Liam mutters to himself.

Keeping the shield up this time, he activates one of his gadgets which triggers a minor explosion. It stings a bit, but cauterizes some of his wounds and vaporizes some timely medicinal herbs.
The explosion is a little more energetic than anticipated, however, and a panel blows off. Healing others may require alchemy.

But maybe they won't need it if he can knock down one of these things?

Liam turns his attention to finding the way forward. "I know it's a mental construct of a maze, but it may still follow something like the logical pattern of really building one. Usually you want the explorer to traverse most of the path, so..."

"I really need to have a weapon with me while I'm readying my gadgets in the morning to prep it properly," says Liam as he shakes his head, "And I didn't prep that. It wouldn't hurt to have a better ranged backup weapon, but it's... unlikely I'd actually use it."

Inventors have a hard time swapping weapons in the middle of a day. The +2 is nice, but Liam would lose reach and actually deal less damage even with the greater striking rune. It would be more of an upgrade if eh had access to it during daily prep.

"We're trying to find her kids. We'll see if we can bring her back... I don't suppose you have any ideas how we can find her?"

Though the obvious answer seems "through there."

"Let's work together, then," says Liam, stowing his weapon, "What are we getting into? And.. do you need some medical aid?"

While Makai works on treating injuries, Liam works to quickly patch his armor. "The problem is every time I improve how this is reinforced, I take advantage of that to improve the output which increases the pressure, so it gets more powerful but never actually more stable... but here, I can heal you, too. This may sting." He touches her worst injury with his heated armor, cauterizing it while blasting it with steam containing vapor from medicinal herbs.

Liam needs another 10 minutes to patch his innovation. He could heal again at that point, but it would risk destabilizing it again and requiring another 10 minutes.

Whoops, sorry I missed the persistent damage there. Liam's fire resistance is 6 while in Overdrive, though, which is why he wasn't too worried about it.

Trying to move the dog again would require Liam to free up a hand. That might be a better idea... but hitting it a lot should probably also work, and lets him keep his shield up.

His phlogistonic regulator is doing well to keep him protected from the flames, but it isn't actually preventing him from being on fire, which is annoying. Perhaps he should add a flame retardant system of some kind, but... if it's not really bothering him anyway, wasting time activating such a system probably wouldn't be worth it anyway. Too high an opportunity cost.

Liam wasn't especially equipped for moving the creatures around, but he could at least try. The first move is always to get his gadgets going and his armor kicked into gear--which will also help protect him against fire.

And then he swings--or "launches" might be a better word--his mace towards the closest creature, hitting it hard and hopefully forcing it away from the stairs.

Liam is another human. He wears goggles and odd, bulky, heavy armor with more than the usual number of buttons and knobs and that occasionally emits a burst of steam.

He wears a shield and has at his hip a strange-looking mace. It's unique, but bears an unmistakable resemblance to a more traditional gnome weapon.

As Othello destroys two of the remaining undead, Liam doesn't approach the last one. Instead his hand brushes a rune etched into his armor--not one of his gadgets, this is magic.

The armor (and the rest of him) increases in size until he can easily reach the last enemy, which he does.
He then stows the axe so he can pull out a healing potion, and takes a breath while he can.

Wordlessly (since he's trying to hold his breath against the smoke), Liam presses his arm against some of his wounds. His armor heats up and releases a burst of steam. Momentarily unpleasant, but the heat cauterizes and the steam contains vaporized medicinal herbs. His words might be silent, but the loud BANG! isn't. The pressure of the steam overloads a valve, and a necessary component rockets off into the distance. Blast. Well, Liam's armor is still mostly working.

He then slashes at the damaged creature, trying to finish it off so the party can focus on the newcomers.

He does need to have a weapon with him during his daily prep to use it with Megaton Strike, and he has to designate a single weapon during daily prep for his Offensive Boost (although if we're facing fire-based enemies that might not matter anyway), so he wouldn't switch if he'd already prepped. (That's why I asked that.)

But Crystal probably doesn't want a battle axe since it's not finesse, Othello's weapon is already +2 and disrupting, and I don't think anybody else is proficient in martial weapons?

So I'll use it if nobody else wants it. I lose reach, but gain +1 to attack and ~2 damage. And disrupting is probably better than astral, since we haven't encountered any ghost-like undead yet.
