I'll just take a move action to stand up and a standard action to demoralize the dog

A glare of pure hatred and anger shot from Lazlo's eyes, he purposefully let his rapier move along the floor then swung it to a readied position in an instant, causing an annoying screech to escape the floor at his feet.

intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

I am guessing no surprise round since the dog blew our cover.

Posting all actions at once is fine with me.

The sound of metal moving against hardened leather was heard as Lazlo unsheathed his rapier. After looking around, he jumps down, races towards the dog and attempts to impale it with a basic, text book thrust.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Damage Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Well 1 damage is better than a miss I guess...

EDIT: forgot to roll acrobatics.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Please put me on M13, if you picked a different position for my character that is fine too.

Feeling a bit better, but if I stop posting for 24 hours in the next few days, please do not panic and DM PC me as needed.

Sorry guys I've got a cold, if I start feeling better I'll make posts, please DM PC me as you see fit.

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

"Do no lasting harm to the children, we must contain them and insure their safe escape from here" He said in a hushed tone, glaring daggers at the dog that broke their hope of continuing this mission with the advantage of stealth

Lazlo moves to whichever door the party decides to go through and prepares his tools for yet another lock.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Add +1 for traps.

If lazlo finds a trap, he won't attempt to open the door and will try to disarm the trap first.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Disable Device for traps: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 = 16

"We won't agree on a single answer if that is what your hoping" Said Lazlo as he continued his work "But I agree with the mage, if Lamm has any partners I plan to find them, to some of you this night may be the end of your dealings with Lamm, to me it is the begining" He looks back, giving Kazandru a stare of what he considered to be approval and then moved his focus to Alex "The one thing this group will agree on is that Lamm must die" Lazlo went back to working on the lock.

"But I'll make him talk first, he will tell me where my niece is, and then he'll die" A rush of anger and malice scarred the former noble's voice, his hateful stare invisible to those not standing to his side.

I've got a +8 on disable device, you?

@Alex =_= Fine, no more taking 20s but seriously this place has too many locked doors. LOL.

Knowledge(Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Free Inspiration: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Knowledge(Nobility): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Has Lazlo heard of these names? Do the numbers seem familiar?

After he was done skimming the papers, Lazlo went to the next door the group chose, looked it over and then began the process of yet another lock opening.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Add +1 for traps.

Taking 20 on the lock. Lazlo will not attempt to open the door if he discovers a trap.

Disable Device for trap: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25

Thanks for the information. Would be funny if someone put a trap on a cabinet.

Sorry for the late reply, taking 20 Disable Device on the cabinet.

The chaotic and unseemly status of the room did not slow Lazlo down, he began looking through it thoroughly, searching for anything interest and keeping his ears open for any sounds that sneaked past the closed doors.

Taking a beautiful 20 on Perception checks.

After being done with the search and picking up any items of interest(Unless they pose a danger to him) He will wait to see which door the party will decide to go in next and take a 20 on its lock.

Lazlo began picking up the items he found, happily returning the stare Alex trained on him.

After giving the room a quick search Lazlo moves into the first room they've entered the building from "I heard nothing from the other doors earlier, if you have a preference for a particular one speak now" Lazlo prepped his tool once more and stood ready to begin working on the next lock.

Whichever door the group chooses, Lazlo will take a 20 on it.

Taking 20 :)

Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Lazlo moves towards the door where the snoring is coming from, bends down and checks the lock, then pulls out his tools and begins working at it I guess they were not expecting anyone, if they were there would be sentries here instead of a snoring buffoon Lazlo pulled out one of his tools and considered the lock once more before continuing.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Askan, if Lazlo trained under your master, then he would be the student that was constantly made an example of and his punishment would be a daily occurrence.

In a moment of silence Lazlo looked to Borden, the frown on his face replaced by a neutral look, and his eyes were not locked in the intense glare he had been utilizing since they've met "I would be fine with Borden's solution" The tone of speech Lazlo utilized seemed to be lacking in his usual hostility.

This is what I like to call the spice of RP, our characters don't have to get along, and arguments amongst adventurers are a natural thing, they even happen if they were of a similar alignment. I am enjoying the give and take between our characters and can see potential for future RP moments between them, but if anyone feels I am derailing the adventure, please tell me and I'll get Lazlo back on track.

"Spare me the spiel, I have no interest in questioning your 'code' or telling you how to live your life" A small frown appears on Lazlo's face "What I am asking you is simple, take responsibility for your moral high ground, I nor anyone here should have to pay because you are against the prospect of killing someone in his sleep, even though the person you choose to spare would have gladly attempted to butcher you if he was awake" He points to the very back of the group.

"By being at the back you'll be able to live up to your code and face this enemy with honor" The last word drips with the venom of disdain "If you dodge or survive his ambush"

"Fine then, if we won't kill him because of your superior sense of morality" Lazlo stares at the cigar chomper coldly "You'll be the rear guard, if he wakes up and stabs someone in the back its only fair that its the one that decided to spare him" His words rolled off his tongue with little effort or animosity, almost as if he was discussing the weather and the possibility of someone getting ambushed.

"I hear nothing from the rest of the doors, which one do we go through?"

Lazlo approaches the group "Someones is sleeping within" He points towards the doors as he whippers to the group "It'd be best if we interrogate him and let him continue his rest for far longer than this night"

Lazlo walks from door to door, halting for a few moments to listen and grasp an idea of what could lie behind them.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Rolled for all four doors, if I only needed a single check then just take the first.

I think the map rolled a 20 on its stealth check. Can't see it anymore.

Lazlo snorted at the smell that invaded his nostrils How fitting that we would find a rat like you here, Lamm He held the door open and motioned for the others to enter the building, placing his finger to his lips to indicate to them that silence was needed.

Holy crap - nice rolls there Lazlo

LOL, I hope they don't get worse.

A single nod was the only response Lazlo gave to the rest of the party. The former noble did his best to keep to the shadows of nearby buildings as he got close, hoping that the far away sounds of battle would draw attention away from his approach. Upon reaching the door Lazlo looked to his right and left, pulled out his tools and began the task of unmasking the mystery of this lock.

Did the knowledge(Local) check I made last time yield any info gm?

"Its naive to expect a group of strangers to suddenly follow the orders of one man" Commented Lazlo, clearly unamused by the unrealistic expectations being shown "The best we can hope for is to present a strategy that everyone agrees on and is willing to follow" His emotionless, stern face shifts in Basil's direction "I agree with him, if there is a leader among us then we'll find out who he is as we go through this massacre" Green eyes shift towards the door Askan indicated.

"So now is the time to agree on a strategy, I see a stealth based approach as our best option, we kill Lamm's minion, keep the children contained in one place to avoid harm coming to them, we interrogate Lamm...thoroughly and then we slit his throat" Said Lazlo his studying glance moving from one man to another "Keep in mind that there is a second level beneath this one, so Lamm may have more men"

Lazlo leaves his chair for the second time today, insures that the sheath of his rapier is well fastened to his belt They do not seem to be lacking in their desire to take Lamm down His eyes studiously flow over them Or potential for damage "If the door is bolted then a stealthy entrance will be beyond our reach" He said plainly as he walked towards the door.

"Leave opening the door to me" Stated Lazlo as he looked at the men around him "Save your battering ram for when your storming a keep"

"The building has two levels" Said Lazlo after minutes of silence "The only way to access the lower level is by water or from the inside" Continued the man with the perpetual scowl "So that should give us options in our approach"

"I can handle myself in a fight, I am a dabbler in alchemy and can move around the shingles with little trouble, and I am no stranger to sneaking about" Lazlo placed crossed his arms across his chest.

First apologies for the double post. Figured since Lazlo went outside he might as well do something useful before he comes back.

Knowledge(Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Try to find out if anyone's heard about a secret entrance, exit or some such.

Having spoken to what sources he could find, Lazlo hurried back to their 'base'.

The partly open door was fully opened once more as the vigilante made his return, appearing unamused "I take it none of you know where that Askan fellow went?" Asked the brown haired man as he stood by the wooden gate.

Figured he learned Askan's name since Zellara mentioned it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Please only my secretary calls me Mr. The Vigilante, no need for formality between us; that paranoid guy with the rapier will do just fine.

Well this is embarrassing, I thought we were moving on Lamm immediately. Want me to bring Lazlo back or will you all meet him there? He should be at a safe distance from the lair.

The scowl on Lazlo face has not lightened in the slightest. He sat in his chair his arms across his chest and barely made any movement; one would even be hard pressed to noticed his breathing if they weren't seated next to him, but once the woman was done speaking he moved like a tornado assaulting a once quiet country side. The chair was pushed backward but it didn't not fall, his weapons and gear were quickly fastened in place but were not entangled or poorly hooked, his footsteps were heard as he crossed the room and finally as he opened the door but not bothering to shut it. Aye he moved like tornado...a surprisingly efficient and single-minded one.

Wasting my time, the supposed information on Lamm was all we needed...and that man, Alex he collaborates her tale, of course they could be working together, but Askan...doubtful, that reaction, you can't fake that Lazlo paid attention to the city streets as he crossed them in haste towards their destination, their emptiness was both calming and annoying to him; they were relaxing because he could gather his thoughts and annoying because he knew what kept the people so quiet, it was now that the monsters came, the monsters that walked around in human flesh...Lamm would die today, and there would be one less monster in this city But first he'll sing to me of where he took Andrea's child, and he better hope I like his song

Green eyes glinted with equal amounts of intrigue and suspicion; Lazlo didn't know whether this woman was lying or not, but her or whoever hired her was able to drag along people with supposed connections to Lamm. His scowl straightened until his mouth formed an emotionless line, a part of him reasoned that it was at least worth checking out, especially since he had not had much success in tracking Lamm down, but the other part of him wondered at how convenient this whole event was, Lazlo still didn't like how everything just seemed to fall into place.

Looking towards the woman once more, Lazlo's scowl returned "Fine, we'll use your information, but know that I don't like being a pawn in someones game, I have little patience for jests and I have long since forgotten the last time I forgave someone" He got up and looked to Kazandru "I agree we should scout the location she gave us, and approach stealthily should we find him there...and remember he dies after he talks"

"Then you have not met many nobles" Replied Lazlo simply, his voice remaining serious but lacking the edge of malice it had brandished a few moments ago. The brown haired man walked away from the window and stopped next to a wall that gave him a clear view of the over extravagant home they had been invited to.

"You can waste hours at your own leisure" Replies Lazlo as he looks through one of the windows, everything in the house was far too tidy, far too clean and far too inviting, something was wrong, he could feel it "I have much more important things I could be doing then entertaining a rich merchant or a noble with a poor sense of humor" The venom of hatred clearly seeped into his tone as he spoke of nobles.

If at anytime you start feeling that Lazlo characterization is starting to take away from the fun, please tell me and I'll tone him down.

"Yes, lets eat and drink what our mysterious host has offered us" Replied Lazlo, with clear derision in his voice "Whichever of you he may be" He added before throwing his glare across the room once more.

"And if this" He pulls out the card and flings it away "Is this person's idea of a joke, then they have far too much time on their hands...something I plan to remedy, if that proves to be true"

1d10 ⇒ 8

Several individuals entered the home that had its address placed on the card in his position, Lazlo didn't know what to make of them. Each one looked far too different from the other, with the sole similarity being that they were all reasonably well armed. He doubted that they were bounty hunters sent after, as he had been increasingly careful in his work and his avoidance of his brothers. The suspicion plagued vigilante looked to his card once more A card is always a part of a deck, could they have received other pieces of this picture our host is drawing? Knowing that standing far from the home and simply watching would do him little good, Lazlo went towards the house and opened the door, preparing himself to escape should his skepticism turn out to be truthful in its warning.

Lazlo looked to the people within the home, and then turned towards it surprisingly fine furnishings and rather inviting appeal Could this be prepared by a noble? Maybe a powerful merchant? The mistrustful man quickly returned his attention to the guests or hosts that stood about him, not bothering to hide the suspicion that was prevalent in his gaze.

The light of dawn sliced through the scattered grey clouds that loomed above the city of Korvosa, drawing shadows from its buildings, animals and people. The streets themselves were beginning to fill up with merchants, peddlers, beggars and pickpockets, each of them going about what they have been doing for most of their days; gaining profit, earning a living and for some it was simply surviving. All had tried to avoid the alleys though, there in their near perpetual veil of shadow and darkness lay things and people that the city itself turned a blind eye to and in one of those alleyways was a man with dark brown hair kneeling in front of a surprisingly sophisticated lock...that was attached to the door of a rundown, half stricken with mold shack. His fingers worked the tools in his hands as they had done many times before, twisting and shifting the inner mechanisms of the inanimate door keeper, trying to reason with it and have it stand aside...and Lazlo had almost succeeded in doing so, if not for finding the card that had shattered his concentration, now though he was where he started, close to bypassing this obstacle and once more something made him stop; the sound of armored men walking past, Lazlo took a breath and looked to his back, seeing two guards walking along the street, too busy discussing something to even peer into the alley.

Korvosa's sentinels and vigilant swords He thought bitterly, as he twisted his wrist, causing the lock to unclench itself from the door with a pop and fall into his now open palm. The secrets of the small wooden structure revealed themselves to him as the door opened with a slight creek; a few vials of shiver and ingredients to concoct more. The scowl of the former noble deepened as he unearth a vial filled with oil from his pack and began pouring it over the 'poison' that had been running deeply through his city's veins. When everything was marred thoroughly, Lazlo flicked a flame into a partially oil soaked stick using his flint and tender and let it fall on the trail of the flammable liquid.

The flame came alive in the shack, beginning with the footprints of oil that has been left for it to follow and then climbing up the walls as it made its way to the cheap roof. Lazlo stood outside, his green eyes catching the glint of the growing flame, he knew he had to leave before anyone noticed but he also had to be sure that everything would be destroyed.

"HEY!" Came a shout from behind him, he coolly turned his head towards his guest Who announces themselves when they are sneaking on someone? He thought to himself as he looked at the lad that arrived at his makeshift pyre.

"Damn it! Did you do this?! The boss is going to kill me!!! But he's going to kill you first!!!" Yelled the nervous looking young man, clearly uncaring that he would draw even more attention to them. His hand freeing the dagger that was at his belt.

Shaking hand, sweat at his brow, eyes trying to look at everything at the same time and seeing nothing "You are unsuited for this life" Replied Lazlo in a frighteningly calm voice "I'll free you from it" He said in a slightly louder tone as his rapier sprang to life in his hand and lunged towards the hole ridden defense of the shaken thug in front of him.

The blow nicked the young thug across his chest, causing his shirt to soak the bit of blood that exited his wound. Who stepped nervously back which only earned him a stab that almost pierced his chest but because of his erratic movements had found his arm instead. The pain and fear had finally taken their toll on his senses and whipped him with enough adrenaline to cause him to rush forward in a wild flurry of slashes and stabs. All he had to show for his efforts was that he now had his back to the burning building and a slight wound across the right cheek of his rapier wielding foe.

Emboldened by his lucky blow the rookie street tough rushed forward, putting all of his strength and momentum into a stab that was aimed at Lazlo's chest, but instead of drawing blood from his enemy, he watched as his own blood spilled to the ground, the steel of his foe embedded deeply into his chest and its tip sprouting out of his back, and his dagger? It only found empy air, before it dropped to the ground.

Without flinching Lazlo pushed the body of the thug of his blade with his right foot and let it fall into the burning building, then walked away, only looking back once to see the dying young thug try to scream from pain but only managed to continue choking on his own blood.

........................................................................... .........................................................................

It was mid afternoon, the sun was on its way to reach the opposite point of where it started. Lancet Street was a few more steps and turns away, but instead of continuing forward towards it Lazlo stopped and watched as people came and went, watching for any suspicious characters that were heading where the 'calling card' that was left for him indicated he should be Its a trap He thought to himself But why be so elaborate and grandiose about it? Is this person trying to prove something? It is not Lamm though, its not the way he'd do this His contemplation was interrupted by the sound of a woman shouting, she was chasing away a number of children from her fruit cart that had several of its merchandise strewn across the street. Soon enough the woman began collecting the fruit, only to be surprised to see the man that had been standing aside this whole time come over and assist her.

"Thank you" She said warmly before handing him an apple. Its green skin clear and untarnished.

"You are better off selling it, I only did what anyone else should do" Replied Lazlo, holding his palm in declination.

The woman laughed "Does it really seem that I am doing that badly" She sighed her smile turning more somber "Well I'll admit things would be easier if my no good brother was more reliable"

"My sister says the same about me" Said the former noble, his comment causing the woman to laugh once more.

"Oh I don't know you don't seem too bad, wouldn't hurt if you smiled more though"

As Lazlo opened his mouth to reply he noticed more people heading in the direction of his destination "I'd better go" He said, before turning and going on his way.

"Your sister probably just wants to see you smile more often" He heard her say as he continued on his way, but then another sound caught his ears; the footsteps of armored men, that was not the only sound that accompanied them though. The screeching, low howl of old wheels came along with them. Lazlo turned his head and saw them dragging an open cart with a body covered in straw. It was then that the lad the woman had chased away ran into the guards, causing them to stop suddenly, causing the cheap cover to fall off and unveil the corpse they brought with them.

"LEO"! A shrill, depressed and fright filled wail came from the fruit vendor as she abandoned her cart and ran towards the half burned body "My brother! Who did this to my baby brother!! She cried as she held the body looking towards the guards for an answer, that they never gave.

In silence Lazlo left the scene of tragedy that unfolded before him, the cries of the grief stricken woman, echoing in his ears. He had always said to himself that Korvosa had to let go of its past, abandon those that abandoned its law and embraced crime and corruption. Lazlo knew it would never be a an easy or seamless process, he knew that road was going to be filled with pain and suffering, but he would brave it, he would continue onwards, even if he had to do so on his own. His hand absently found his pocket and the card within, he heard the woman call out for her brother once more and the image of his sister crying for her kidnapped child accosted his mind for the tenth time today You will die Lamm, I will tear down everything you've built, and I'll kill everyone who's helped you

Still here.

Combat: At first level Lazlo will focus on flanking, as he really doesn't have much options besides that. By level 2 poisoned rapiers shall be something all mobs worry about(Unless they are immune to poisons), 4th level studied combat and studied strike get into the mix. Planning to get the infusion discovery as soon as possible. I have some idea where I'll take Lazlo feat wise in the long term but my plan when it comes to that may change if I see any feats I like in the ACG book(10 days to go).

Be careful with all the poison... You have to get the feat Use Poison, you have to worry about the cost of poison and repoisoning your weapon after every hit....

@ GM thanks

Investigator gets Poison Lore at level 2 which eliminates the chance of accidentally poisoning yourself while applying it to a weapon, along with other bonuses that are related to identifying and neutralizing poisons.

I'll get a post up later on. Dotting for now.

Okay lets clear up a misunderstanding here. I am not asking anyone to be a band aid, especially not in a game like Pathfinder. My idea of a healer in this game is pretty much what Vixen talked about a few posts ago. I don't think its a coincidence that most healers in the game have 3/4 BAB, can wear armor(In the Cleric's case Medium armor) and have access to a decent selection of weapons. If you are just sitting at the back and healing then you are ignoring a big part of your class.

Now that that is hopefully cleared up we can return to the topic, when I asked the GM to find us a healer, I was asking for what Vixen and I described. Yes the Oracle and Bard could cover the healer role, I am even planning to get the infusion discovery and start passing around healing extracts, but at the end of the day it isn't like having someone who is WILLING to heal, not be a band-aid but heal.

As for the GM's options; I am not taking a level in cleric, and it would unreasonable to ask someone to do so if they don't want to, buying the healing on the other hand means that we are cutting into our gear funds, so we are going to suffer for not having a healer one way or another.

Come to think of it, the GM doesn't even have to open a new thread he could just ask any of the people who wanted to get into the game but couldn't if they'd be interested in playing a healer.

GM any hope of opening a recruitment thread and asking for a healer? I mean if you are willing to go with six characters, seven isn't that different.

Characters butting heads on certain issue adds to the flavor of the RP in my opinion.

@Askan you're right, the rapier does make it seem like Zorro is an inspiration, but I mostly went with because I thought nobles who did not enter any sort of real martial training, still probably practiced with rapiers and had a dueling instructor.
