Larkspur reluctantly hands the coins he caught back over to Sully, grumbling under his breath about what Aster had said about maybe getting to keep them.

His tone shifts quickly when Saul mentions getting paid. "Oh yes. Oh yes we will! Aster! Tell the nice man with the money that we will take it from him!

Larkspur lands on a nearby table, elated with the coins he's managed to catch from the air. He carefully counts the five gold coins over and over again, eager to recount the profit. After a moment, he glances around him as he realizes that things have quieted down. Realizing that he may not actually be allowed to keep them, he pulls his head close and puts the coins under himself, as though pretending he'd never had them.

Bluff: 1d20 - 12 ⇒ (8) - 12 = -4 I went ahead and included the penalty for far fetched lies, considering how obvious he was in catching them.

Suddenly trying to distract from his own illicit intention, he pipes up as well "Gold? Gold...knickers? That's a wonderful name for someone with a job! I'm definitely willing to hear more if it leads to more coin.

Larkspur twirls in the air, clutching the gold tightly to his colored breast. "Finally! Something in this masquerade that I can keep!

He spirals back past Aster and drops the coins beside her before setting back off in case more coins are thrown.

Larkspur immediately starts screeching. "BUT THEY'RE GOING TO KILL....Me?" He starts to notice the lack of real combat and quickly chirps up at the idea of potentially recovering money. He sings to himself as he swoops off in the direction of the raining coins. "Can you hear that jingle-jangle sound...Oh, Yeah..."

Not sure what roll you'd want to collect them, so I'm going to roll a couple of different things

Larkspur continues his panicked burrowing deeper into Aster's bags, his harping muffled somewhat by the thick leather and piles of small tools.

I'm going to put him in delay until it's relevant to have him act again.

"I agree completely. I am the best. Nobody can compete with me on any level ever. Except maybe combat. BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT?!?"

Thanks a bunch. I'm basing most of his behavior off of a couple of people I used to know, with some slight exaggerations

Larkspur is a screeching madman... madbird? Desperate to keep himself safe in the folds of Aster's coat, he flails about madly and burrows deeper into her pockets, shrieking.

"I'm dying! Don't let me die! Save me! Keep me away from them! Keep me and my money away from them!"

"Wuzzat?"

Larkspur spins around startled just in time to have the image of the flame seared into the back of his eyes.

"OH GODS! OH SAVE ME!"

Larkspur will flutter in Aster's direction, attempting to reach safety while abandoning as few coins as possible.

"Don't worry about it so much!

Larkspur squawks gleefully in Taton's direction. Hopping on his diminished pile of coins drunkenly.

"None taken, you are clearly overwhelmed by my obvious genius. You should retire now while you're ahead."

He stumbles a bit trying to pick up a coin to toss on the table. "You may be right about the hands, though..."

Larkspur chirps and sputters in disbelief at his entirely unexpected loss. He sticks his beak into his mug pulls back out and ruffles his feathers quickly to dry off anything that might have gotten unexpectedly dampened, but also in a failed attempt to hide his frustration.

When Sully mentions another round, he perks up quickly.

"Again you say? Let's go! As sure as a raven and a hawk, I can turn this streak around!"

Larkspur hops aggressively in place while waiting for the results of each hand. He bets 1 silver with each hand, but only because they don't have enough money on hand for both of them to bet more than that.

Larkspur immediately perked up at the mention of drinks, almost knocked his chips off of the table with the speed with which he spun his tiny body around.

"DRINK!? Oh most definitely drinks! I don't care what it is, so long as it's sweet and the mug is bigger than I am. The big green one drinks, too, and make sure she gets more than I do."

Aster immediately grimaced and shook her head gently in Meghan's directly behind his back, certain that she didn't want to end up in another one of those days. She hoped desperately that the server understood without her having to say so out loud.

Aster:Bluff: Pass Secret Message: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

"Now games! Who here games?! I'm the best, obviously."
He's awful, and it's obvious from his pitiful pile of chips
"But who wants to take a risk and throw in a few rounds? You might get lucky! Don't be a peahen about it!"
I don't rightly care if we actually play or just move on, this is mostly just his normal bravado.

Bluff: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9 Oh no. Oh dear.
@Meghan: Larkspur is verbally abusing the staff, but is far too small to hide cheating materials or weapons on his person. He is, however, blatantly reordering cards as he jumps around on the table, attempting to shuffle whenever the dealer looks around for assistance with dealing with him.

It's not immediately clear if he's cheating for his own benefit or for someone else's, because it is clear from your distance that he is terrible at it. If he's someone's familiar, it's not apparent whose, as almost everyone nearby seems to grimace when they hear his screeching attempts to be heard over the crowd.

"Come On! Are you going to deal, or what? Move those stubby wings, ya grouse."

Larkspur lighted on Aster's shoulder, chirping shrilly in her ear.

"Oh quit your moaning. We're here to make up for the last time you almost died, remember? Now get in there so I can win me some money!"

Aster swallowed hard and continued into the bar, keeping a respectable distance from other dangerous looking customers as Larkspur directed her towards what he predicted would be a winning table.

Also, we have one party member with a 10 Charisma, and the rest of us have 16 or higher. We're going to hilariously talk our way out of everything.
That's amazing! Although if we decide that we really want trouble, we could always rely on Larkspur to pick fights and get us into trouble, since he's likely to be talking a fair portion of the time anyway.

"Birds naturally have the best voices for talking. My voice is like nectar to a hummingbird. What I mean is it's really good, for those of you not following along. I don't see why you don't just let me negotiate everything."

Well, Larkspur, clearly this lovely lady isn't meant for fighting. I'd be willing to put a couple gold down to see you in a cock fight. I think I saw an Archaeopteryx with a lovely disposition that might be up for it.

I'm not really here for the games. But I think I'll be going anyway. I think my friend here might be going. Let me introduce Lothalian.

*ruffles feathers angrily* Fighting like that is meant for birds of lower breeding, like croads, or braekels, not something as elegant as myself. But I can absolutely see an ark'ty stooping that low.

Lothalion, you look like a crane! Do you act like a crane? Personally, I like cranes. I like them to be far away from me, or very well paid!

Just to throw it out there some of us already did some RP stuff. So long as it is light hearted the GM does not mind but does not want to turn the thread into an in-character recruitment.

On another note I really like Larkspur. Screaming mouthy birds are hilarious!

@ Cherry we have six days to add any character history together to our profiles. Do we want to know each other from a tavern?

@ Sindorah if you could not tell Dougal can get rather foolish so if you want to we can or simply wait and see.

@ Orendel Kellon since you are going with very new to the area then it is kind of up to you if you want to have met Dougal.

Also I would like to pick up the knowledge local skill. It seems like something Dougal would have and I would like to get it though the affable trait. But that means I need a drawback, which I am fine with, I have just been trying to find one I like and I am stuck between too. I am torn between Magical Klutz for the potential hilarity of magical shenanigans or Vain since Dougal is a bit on an arrogant man. Any thoughts?

Thanks! I'm trying to discriminate equally with Larkspur and be equally helpful with Aster. I really like this idea, so even if I don't get into this game, I fully intend to have them see play eventually.

I can see both of those traits leading to a fair bit of humor. Personally, I like Vain, as it seems the easiest to roleplay. Mostly because its circumstances will come up more often.

I would be willing to tie Aster's backstory in with someone else. If anyone spent a significant amount of time in the shackles, or near Sargava, it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to have encountered each other. Although her loudmouthed familiar, Larkspur, seems more likely to have traveled with other people before.

ASTER!! Over here, please join us. You've come a long way from the Shackles. You look well. How have you been?!

Ugh, I see you haven't lost that pigeon in your travels. S'up larkspur I see you made it out of that gambling den down South, unfortunately.
Larkspur's broke... Again. So we're here looking for some quick money. He keeps saying that there's always a quick buck to make this time of year. I dunno... I've never been this far north before.

I wouldn't be broke if you didn't keep bleeding out every time I bet on one of your fights. I thought you orcs were supposed to be all violent-like?

The shackles are full of cheats, Wendell. Cheats and the prettiest parrots I ever did see. But that's enough talk about pigeons and parrots, we can chase some pretty little tailfeathers together after the gambling is won! You know anybody else going to this little tourney?
