About Kyomi Swiftpaw
**Background & Appearance**
* Backstory*
Kyomi was born to a slave family, who were often made to fight each other, for the sport of their captors. This would quickly prove to be their downfall, as the ever-tricky fighter grew too strong, too fast, and ultimately overtook the slavers.
However, Kyomi developed a love for fighting, and continued to build on it, as a gladiator & soldier. Eventually, she would become quite the warrior, who set her sights on the Pathfinder Society, to put her highly trained skills to good use!
She’s known to be quite playful & flirty, with others, but harsh to slavers. She would also later learn of the word of Arshea, Spirit of Abandon; to which, she now worships!
*Appearance*
• Kitsune Form:
- Orange fur, with unusual markings on the muzzle.
- Can often be seen whistling, and flirting with others.
• Human Form:
- slender, but short, with black hair; a rather usual trait for a Tien-Hwan.
- Has a beauty mark, on her right cheek, near her mouth.
- Works as a Courtesan.
**Character Sheet**
• Racial Abilities:
- Kitsune Racial Ability Score Modifiers: +2 to DEX & CHA, -2 to STR.
- Kitsune: Kyomi is a Humanoid with the “Kitsune” and “Shapechanger” subtypes.
- Size Modifiers (Medium): Kyomi gains no benefits or penalties from her size.
- Normal Speed: 30 ft walking speed.
- Low-Light Vision: Kyomi can see up to twice as far as the normal human, when in partial darkness.
- Gregarious: If Kyomi succeeds a Diplomacy check to win over an individual, that persons suffers a -2 penalty to resist any Charisma-based skill checks Kyomi makes against them, for the next 24 hours.
- Kitsune Magic: Add +1 to he save DC to any saving throws to resist Kyomi’s enchantment spells. She also gets to use “Dancing Lights” as a Spell-like ability, 3 times a day.
- Change Shape: Kyomi can freely change between her Human and Kitsune form, at will. In her Kitsune form, she gets a Natural Bite attack (1d4 piercing damage), while her human form grants a +10 to disguise, to appear human. Switching between them is a Standard Action. This otherwise functions as “Alter Self”, save for the fact that Kyomi cannot alter her Ability Scores.
• Traits:
- Back For More: Whenever an opponent confirms a Critical Hit against you, gain a +2 bonus to attack & damage rolls against said opponent, u til end of your next turn.
- Freedom Fighter: +1 to Stealth Checks and to Attack rolls, during surprise rounds.
• Favored Class Abilities:
- Samurai (All): Add +1 Bonus HP.
• Samurai (Sword Saint/Ward Speaker) Class Features:
- Samurai Proficiencies: Kyomi starts off proficient in simple & martial weapons, and the Katana, Wakizashi, and Naginita. She is proficient in light, Medium, and Heavy armor and shields (excluding Tower Shields).
- Challenge: once per day, Kyomi may challenge an opponent, in order to deal her Samurai Level in damage to a specific opponent; if she attacks another target, she gains a -2 penalty. The challenge remains until either the opponent is defeated or unconscious, or combat otherwise ends. Her Samurai Order grants additional bonuses, for her Challenge.
- Iaijutsu Strike (Sword Saint): If Kyomi’s sword is sheathed at the start of her turn, she may perform a lightning-quick full-round attack, which adds +1d6 slashing damage, on a successful strike. This damage is not multiplied, on a critical hit, but does increase by +1d6, every odd-numbered class level (up to +10d6, at 19). After using this attack on an opponent, she takes a -4 to her AC, and cannot use that ability on the target opponent again, for 24 hours, though she may continue to fight regularly. At 10th level, this penalty or AC decreases to -2.
- Order: Kyomi must pledge herself to an order, or be a ronin. Doing so means she must follow the edicts of her order, or otherwise have to prove herself, unless she undergoes the lengthy process to choose a new Order.
- Propitiation (Ward Speaker): by spending 1 minute performing a special ritual, Kyomi can call upon the aid of a Kami at its ward, to gain a sliver of its power. This fortune will last for 24, or until dismissed. If she dismissed the the fortune early as an immediate action, she can either reroll a d20 and take the second result, or use a specific Kami’s fortune ability. All kami abilities are listed below; she may use this class ability a limited number of times.
• Kami and Propitiation Abilities
- Kodama: As a standard action, the ward speaker can afflict one target that can see him with a distracting gaze. If the target fails a Will save (DC = 10 + half the ward speaker’s samurai level), it is staggered for 1d4 rounds. At 9th level, it is instead staggered for 2d4 rounds. At 17th level, it is instead staggered for 1 minute. Once a creature has been targeted by this ability, it cannot be targeted by it again for 24 hours.
- Shikigami: The ward speaker gains Catch Off-Guard and Throw Anything as bonus feats. At 9th level, he gains Toughness and Step Up. At 17th level, he gains Following Step and Step Up and Strike, even if he does not meet the prerequisites.
- Toshigami: The ward speaker can speak with plants, as the speak with plants spell. At 9th level, the ward speaker can dismiss this fortune as an immediate action to cast haste as a spell-like ability. Once per day at 17th level, the ward speaker can instead dismiss this fortune to cast temporal stasis as a spell-like ability. The ward speaker’s caster level for these spell-like abilities is equal to his samurai level.
- Zuishin: As an immediate action, the ward speaker can dismiss this fortune to cast cure light wounds as a spell-like ability. At 9th level, the ward speaker can dismiss this fortune to cast cure serious wounds, lesser restoration, remove curse, or remove disease; at 17th level, he also adds breath of life and heal to this list. The ward speaker’s caster level for these spell-like abilities is equal to his samurai level.

- Edicts: Kyomi must follow a personal Edict, consisting of the three tenets of the Pathfinder Society (Explore, Report, Cooperate).
- Challenge Bonus: Whenever under the effects of a challenge, smite, quarry, or similar effect, she may challenge the opponent back, for a +1 Morale bonus to Attack and damage rolls, along with a +1 dodge bonus to AC against them; these bonuses increase by one for every 4 Ronin levels she has (up to +6, at level 20).
Bonus Class Skills: Kyomi adds “Knowledge (Local)”, and “Survival”, to her list of Class skills.

- (1st Level) Two-Weapon Fighting: When using TWF, Kyomi takes a -4 to attack rolls from her main hand weapon, and -6 for her off-hand weapon; these both drop to -2, of her off-hand is a light weapon.
