Facts:

2) Tenchi has incredible prowess with a sword, even without his Gifts.

3) Following the orders of his Emperor, Tenchi will strive to protect all members of the Athenian Organization.

Words:

Protection:

Base Abilities: Godbound of Protection have a natural Armor Class of 3. Once per scene, they can negate an injury or hostile effect on an ally as an Instant action, but they cannot use this power on their own behalf.

Gifts:
Blunt the Fang: When targeted by a hostile supernatural power, Commit Effort for the day and forgo any saving throw you may normally be allowed. For the rest of the scene, that supernatural power cannot affect any of your allies within the same general vicinity, though it can still affect you normally. Normal attacks that involve supernatural energies are not a valid subject for this power.

Sword:

Base Abilities: Heroes with the Sword Word treat all their weapon or unarmed attacks as magical, cannot be disarmed, and can summon any melee weapon they’ve ever used immediately to hand as an Instant action.

Giftss:
Cutting the Crimson Road: Commit Effort. Against foes of half or fewer hit dice than you have levels, to a minimum of 1, your melee damage rolls are read straight and always maximized. The overflow can be applied against any other foes that fit the conditions and are within 10 feet. Against Mobs made up of applicable creatures, you instead simply roll your damage die straight without maximizing it. This gift does not affect Fray dice.

The Path Through War: Commit Effort. So long as you don’t make an attack roll or cast a hostile effect that round, you have an invincible defense against all weapon or unarmed attacks. You can still use your Fray die while under this effect. This defense is not applicable to environmental, spell, or magical effect damage. Once this gift is dropped or ended, it cannot be re-activated during that same scene.

Thirsting Razor: Commit Effort. You always hit lesser foes with your melee attacks. No attack roll is necessary, but this benefit applies only to actual melee weapon or unarmed attacks, and not to other effects that involve hitting a foe to inflict a hostile effect.

War:

Base Abilities: Godbound of War may raise either their Intelligence or Wisdom scores to 16, or to 18 if the score is already 16 or higher. They automatically grant a Morale score of 12 to all allied NPCs under their command. Many of their gifts apply to soldiers in their service, a status which includes any creature armed for military service who considers itself subject to the Godbound's orders. PCs are never included in this definition, but can still qualify as companions.

War - None yet.

Equipment: Katana (Medium Melee Weapon), Wakizashi (Light Melee Weapon), Light Armor

Character Background:

Unlike the rest of the world, the Opening has had less of an impact on the people of Japan. While there was still a massive loss of life, in rural Japan, most people continue the traditions of farming the land for rice to sustain the people.

Tokyo, however, was for a long time a lawless area, ruled by gangs who battled each other for territory, resources, and out of sheer boredom.

As Japan has never really had the abundance of firearms that exist in the US, it was not that far of a stretch for those who want to do violence to others to change from firearms to swords. After all, a sword doesn't need to be reloaded.

About 50 years ago, a man united the gangs in Tokyo and drove out those who wouldn't join. He was a master with the blade, and if the rumors were to be believed, impossible to kill.

Declaring himself Emperor of Tokyo, he offered his protection and the protection of his reborn samurai caste to the rural farmers, protecting them from bandits and rampaging monsters.

While the Emperor of Tokyo has never been shown to be a Gifted, the rumors persist; so much so, in fact, that a squad of Organization enforcers arrived to speak with the emperor. They verified that he was not a gifted. They also discovered that one of the samurai in his court, Kusinagi Tenchi, was.

Tenchi was ordered to go with the enforcers and represent the Empire of Tokyo in the Athenian Organization. Bowing to the Emperor, he left willingly.
