Krojun rumbles unhappily as he considers the body of the slain shopkeeper and the assorted clues. ”Where did these vampires come from and how have they operated in Kaer Maga for so long undetected? We should bring this poor man’s remains so he can be identified and have a proper burial. He might have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
I can't mess with the map right now but move me someplace appropriate. Krojun lumbers forward with his thunderous chant on his lips. Picking out one of the wounded vampires the big shoanti brings his blade to bear. Sword (inspire, rally, negative level): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 23

And now that I’ve said that, I found this while combing the campaign. Hrm, did we have someone chronicling the loot? I can do it when I get home if nobody else has started already. From there we’ll figure out how much we have to spend on scrolls of death ward.
Hearing the cries of his companions, Krojun lumbers forward unfurling the bullwhip from his side as he goes. After a *crack* for a effect, the big shoanti snaps at the monster's ankle threatening to pull it to the ground. Trip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 That's unlikely to do it. If it's a super-fail, he'll drop the whip.
"Shameful. In a crisis like this it is important that all members of a quah pull their own weight. I cannot believe that those tasked with transporting the fallen would shirk their duties in such a way", Krojun says in disappointment at the tale. "We will see it done. What would you have done with these men if they are caught in the act?"
Krojun grows increasingly uncomfortable being ordered around by fools in metal skins but the big shoanti takes his orders in stride. Their hearts were in the right place - helping the ailing peoples of Korvosa. The title of Gray Maiden but he grunts and nods in understanding all the same. He silently wonders what a gray maiden even looks like. When the party's introduced to the physician, Krojun offers the heavily garbed figure a meaty handshake. "We're happy to help in whatever ways we can. Where is our first stop?" How many other 'free agents' are being dragged in to help with this operation?
Pleased to hear that the city's leaders were already working on a plan, Krojun nods in agreement with the priest's request. "Of course! We would be happy to see you through the streets and to Field Marshall Kroft safely. She's an honorable woman and I've little doubt she'll do everything in her power to help you coordinate Korvosa's faiths in battling this illness." Considering the near-riot that occurred on the way in, the big shoanti looks around the room. "Perhaps an exit out the back would be a good way to start."
Krojun nods in agreement with Lucius’s assessment. ”You’re only one man. The whole city suffers in the grip of this sickness. There’s no way you can treat them all but you can help in another way.” ”Something is spreading this disease. Being near the afflicted isn’t enough otherwise we would all be sick by now. We have to track it to its source or the city will never recover.” ”Let’s start at the Bank of Abadar. Spirits willing, our contact there might have some useful information.”
With the girls on their way and safe, Krojun turns back toward the city. "We could use a man with your kinds of talents”, the big man says when Lucius starts to make his exit. ”And Kroft thought your worthy to help us with getting the girls out of the city. Perhaps you could stick around a bit longer. I’ve found during my time in the city that sometimes a silver tongue is more effective than a blade for getting things done in Korvosoa.”
Meeting Trinia's would-be stand in, Krojun smiles and bows. "It pleases me to see such a beauty spared the queen's misplaced wrath", he says in a bass rumble. "We would happy to see these two to safety in Harse. I trust the place is far enough and small enough that they won't be recognized?" when the newcomer is introduced Krojun bows again but with a degree less charm. "So Cressida sends a trickster to join our number. No doubt your talents will be a great boon in this game of faces we've become tangled in."
Krojun sucks in a breath when the ghostly varisian woman appears to deliver her portent. He remains silent as she arrays the cards to guide them once more. ”The Sickness might be more literal. The plague that the girl was afflicted with – perhaps it’s more tied to the danger than we understood. I believe it that might be worth looking into.” I’m otherwise at a loss to where the plot wants us to head.
Krojun nods sharply. ”I agree. If you remain in hiding it’s just a matter of time before you’re found and living in fear of discovery is no way to spend the rest of your days. Now would be the best time to get you someplace safe. Do you have any family outside the city - someplace where no one would know your name or your face?” The hulking shoanti glances the paladin’s way. ”Perhaps she can seek asylum within your church? I’ve heard tales of hunted men building new lives that way.”
"I can't say I understand it completely but it looks like another girl who's appearance was close to yours was captured and put on display for execution. Recognizing the mistake we were trying to halt the execution but Blackjack's arrival took care of it for us. If you were hoping to leave the city, now would be the time I believe."
"Not quite", Krojun admits unhappily. "But we believe the pressure to find you should lower in the next few days. Your 'execution' was ruined by Blackjack himself. I suspect the crown will turn their efforts toward finding him instead." "While we wait for more information to surface, we're helping a member of the Korvosan guard with his sick child."
I'm at Paizocon this weekend so my posting may be a bit slacky. I'll get Krojun updated as soon as possible. I'll get Krojun rebuilt as soon as possible. The only thing I'm looking to change is adding those extra skill points and possibly swap Krojun's barbarian level for a bloodrager level. Thank again for the game RR. Good luck with school and things.
Whoa! Sorry to see you go Rooster but thanks for dealing with this head on. It shows a lot of character that's sometimes absent on the internet. There's absolutely no hard feeling and if your schedule clears up in the future I'd be happy to game with you again. Whoa #2! Thanks for stepping up Gheris. That's the quickest I've ever seen someone jump on the grenade of an ailing game. I'm definitely on board for quicker posting. |
