Monk Bonus Feat(s): Improved Trip
Flurry of Blows: Starting at 1st level, a monk can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action. When doing so, he may make one additional attack, taking a –2 penalty on all of his attack rolls, as if using the Two-Weapon Fighting feat. These attacks can be any combination of unarmed strikes and attacks with a monk special weapon (he does not need to use two weapons to utilize this ability). For the purpose of these attacks, the monk's base attack bonus from his monk class levels is equal to his monk level. For all other purposes, such as qualifying for a feat or a prestige class, the monk uses his normal base attack bonus. At 8th level, the monk can make two additional attacks when he uses flurry of blows, as if using Improved Two-Weapon Fighting (even if the monk does not meet the prerequisites for the feat). At 15th level, the monk can make three additional attacks using flurry of blows, as if using Greater Two-Weapon Fighting (even if the monk does not meet the prerequisites for the feat). A monk applies his full Strength bonus to his damage rolls for all successful attacks made with flurry of blows, whether the attacks are made with an off-hand or with a weapon wielded in both hands. A monk may substitute disarm, sunder, and trip combat maneuvers for unarmed attacks as part of a flurry of blows. A monk cannot use any weapon other than an unarmed strike or a special monk weapon as part of a flurry of blows. A monk with natural weapons cannot use such weapons as part of a flurry of blows, nor can he make natural attacks in addition to his flurry of blows attacks. AC Bonus (+3 Wis bonus to AC and CMD) Redirection (Ex)
At 4th level, a flowing monk can use redirection against an opponent that the flowing monk threatens and that attacks an ally with a melee attack. At 8th level, a flowing monk can make both a reposition and a trip maneuver as part of a single immediate action with this ability. At 12th level, a flowing monk can use redirection against any opponent that attacks him in melee, even if the flowing monk is not threatening the opponent who attacks him. A flowing monk can use this ability once per day per monk level, but no more than once per round. This ability replaces Stunning Fist. Background:
Korham has lived most of his life among the Shoanti tribe of the Shundar-Quah, the Spire Clan in the Common tongue. His mother Cedda, raised him in the tribe, his father, a travelling monk from the Inner Sea region, wasn't there for much of his adolescent life. This particular Shundar-Quah tribe is special among the Shoanti as they harbor a lot of the Shoanti shamans, this in turn makes them relatively safe from raiding parties by other Shoanti groups. His father, Korvun, came looking for the Shoanti tribes as a means of gaining knowledge of other people fighting bare-handed. He became amazed at some of the fighters and brawlers among the Spire Clan and stayed there for many years, during which he became respected among the clan and became infatuated with Cedda, resulting in the birth of Korham a few years later. His father told Korham many a secret of his own martial arts training, at that time Korham was 8 years old. However his father was eventually called back by his temple stating an emergency, leaving the 12-year old Korham and his mother behind, promising he'd be back soon. That was 12 years ago. Later Korham became very strong, still practising the teachings of his father, however losing somewhat of his agility as his Shoanti blood took over, becoming more bulky and tall as he grew. Among the Shundar-Quah tribe he acted as a bodyguard for the shamans, usually protecting his mother from disgruntled tribesmen. His father's teachings served him well to incapacitate any ruffians without any bloodshed. At his 20th birthday, his mother told him to go towards Sandpoint, to seek and find out his own fate in the world.
In Sandpoint itself, he came to know Ameiko Kaijitsu of the Rusty Dragon Inn soon enough. His mixed heritage showed through and she let him stay a few days to get his bearings, recognising the facial features from her ancestral home region as well.
For the last two years Korham has stayed at the inn. His payment is bread and board and some tips he gets from the local female community. He also works as a freelance bodyguard during the calm hours of the inn. Though not a devout follower, he keeps Irori close to his heart as a reminder of his father's teachings and his values. He often comes to the gardens around the cathedral in Sandpoint to meditate and offer a small prayer to Irori, asking for perfection in his movements and endurance.
Personality:
Korham is quite social to people he knows, though first contact is not his strong suit and he still has to choose his words carefully. He is a bit reserved, preferring to watch and judge for himself than get up close and personal to talk. Growing up with both parents quite structured in their ways of teaching, he adheres to many codes of conduct within a society and intents to treat everyone with care that does not threaten him or others. Though he is not bloodthirsty by nature, he enjoys a fight, preferably wrestling and hand-to-hand combat. He enjoys perfecting his techniques, even as having gone so far that he challenegd three loud-mouths at the Rusty Dragon and won by tripping and throwing his attackers off of him.
Appearance:
A tall figure at 6 feet 5 inch, he looks imposing, even without his muscular build. He keeps shaving his head to remind him of his Shoanti heritage, but the small beard lets him remind himself of his father. |
