Can a rogue with the "Opportunist" Advanced Talent and EW Proficiency with whip use said whip with Opportunist?

Hello.

On one of my chronicle sheets, I have access to a +1 whip that sickens the target unless they make a DC 15 Fort save.

My question is this... If I use the whip to trip an opponent, are they sickened?
