a 7th-level spell slot (resisted as 4th)

last 1 hr/lvl

deal 1d8 damage w/o saving throws allowed for every 5-ft of movement made.

20-ft. square per level area

So unless flying or has DR 10/whatever, a 30-ft. charge will require anyone to succeed in ALL 6 Will saving throws or be dazed for 4 rounds.

Also, can't be found unless you've got a rogue.

Yay for underused magical traps.

Dear fellow pathfinders

I'm really digging the Arcane Duelist archetype for the bard and want to make up a character for some brain exercises.

However, I'm having a real hard time trying to justify what the heck he's doing in the middle of the battle using his Bardic Performance.

I mean, war chanting is fine and so is sword-dancing... but the type of character I want to play is a more hard-boiled, gruff and grumpy detective that weaves buffing spells in his blade.

So how do I justify to myself how a grumpy old man uses his bardic performance?

I've come up with just one thing- that is, he is a martial arts master and his bardic performance is him doing wuxia routines and quoting old tacticians (like the Arts of War) to inspire his allies. So he will be saying things like "in combat, you must be like a mountain until the moment you strike- at which you must be like the blazing flame!"

But... that just sounds too cheesy. Not even the martial arts masters in the flashiest chinese martial arts films do that :(

So help me out guys, what can a grumpy bard do?

I know that Giant Form is available via a magical item (a mask) but draconic forms seem more elusive to get ahold of.

So apart from multiclassing into a level of bard/sorcerer and taking a few levels in the Dragon Disciple PrC (I kid), is there a viable way to do this at all?

Cheers

Starting at 4th level, a druid gains a +4 bonus on saving throws against the spell-like and supernatural abilities of fey. This bonus also applies to spells and effects that target plants, such as blight, entangle, spike growth, and warp wood.

plus, hmm, I don't know, any Plant-type creatures. Let's say a Treant druid.

Since RAW, RNL provides a +4 unnamed bonus on saving throws against spells and effects that target plants, it would, as written, be applied to every single spells and effects used against the Treant Druid because they'll all be used to target the plant creature.

Of course, there's no mistake in what RAI's meant to be but heh, such is RAW :P Never gonna even try getting it past my DM's nose but I thought it would be a nice thought exercise for all of us's.

Dear fellow Pathfinders

Since a druid's WS doesn't allow one to assume any other special abilities of the creature that's not specifically mentioned in the Beast Shape entry, does that mean a druid that WS's into a Flying Squirrel doesn't gain its Glide(Ex) special ability?

That would make for quite a hilarious scene because, well, naturally flying squirrels can't use their fly speed for other than gliding but a druid wildshaped as one can fly up up and away, as clumsy as she may be!

Damn that's beautiful.

Dear fellow Pathfinders

I've been thinking a little about a Paladin (well, someone with a Smite ability) that doesn't rely on the target's alignment and more importantly, their own alignment to be good (evil for anti-).

So what happens is that at each level the 'Paladin' gains Smite 'Evil', she instead gains something called Smite Uglies (working title).

At each of these levels, she selects a creature type from the ranger favoured enemies table. She can then use Smite against the chosen creature types as she sees fit.

I suppose further touches will be needed if one were to really fit the entire class into a class specialised for hunting specific types of creatures but I think it's pretty balanced (or underpowered, even) in terms of Smite-ability.

So what do you folks think?

Dear fellow Pathfinders

I am quite out of my depth in building my next character for a 15-level campaign.

Most of the feats and builds are more RP-focused (craft staff, craft wondrous item, combat casting...) but I want my spell list to look as blasty as possible.

So what are the most heavy duty spells available for a Druid damagewise?

Right now I've got on my 'typical spells prepared' list the following-

8th- derp
7th- fire storm
6th- greater dispel magic
5th- fire snake
4th- dispel magic, FLAME STRIKE!!
3rd- ash storm, spike growth
2nd- intensified burning disarm, flame blade
1st- derp

We use most Paizo rulebooks, so *fire* away!

p.s. oh yeah I haven't quite made up my mind regarding which domain to go with either. I was leaning toward Fire/Ash for fireball/disintegrate goodness but flame strike beats intensified fireball all day everyday and I'm looking for more AoE burst so disintegrate wasn't all that necessary.

If you guys could point me out to some nasty burst spells, that'd be wonderful.

Thanks in advance >:3
