"Uhhh." Kip looks hopelessly lost. "I don't really want to go at it with those things, but I'll follow. Just don't expect me to be of much use; I'm not really good at fighting." He shrugs before crouching down to watch Eamch in morbid fascination.

"Um," Kip pipes up. "Are you sure it's safe here? I mean, it wasn't exactly safe when I crashed into the building and there's a fire just across the street and I dunno if there's any food or water...." He trails off, sounding unsure then shakes his head. "I mean, it might not be a bad idea, I guess?"

Kip nods along but it's clear that he has absolutely no idea what Alfonso is saying. "We could try getting across the street first," he offers. Why did the party cross the road? Because zombies were on their current side!

Kip looks like he's still recovering from the fright when Khron asks him the question. "Uhhh. I—Whatever's good with you guys? I don't know how I'll get you all across the city with the rooftops as they are though, but the tunnel is a good place if we're planning on staying in the city."

Do I know what they're talking about concerning the Rod? Kip has the side of his hand in his mouth, biting down on it to prevent himself from saying anything.

"Durance wha-?" Kip looks confused but seems to get Alfonso's main point. "Yeah, sure." The kobold quickly jumps down and scurries down the hole, back to the attic.

You're still down there? Ruh-roh. "Umm. Can't quite see it but it's fast. The rats are running away from it. Maybe we should get down until it passes by."

"Uhhh." Kip looks thoughtful as he tries to remember how many wererats he ran away from. The kobold tries to climb the chimney again to see if the wererats are close, and how many there are. Climb 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Kip licks his lips, nervous. He addresses the dwarf. "Well, there's another way there but we'd have to cross the street and, uhh, no offense but I don't think the roofs can handle your weight." He shrugs when he hears Kragdash's comment, mumbling or your weight either but raises his voice to say, "I'm fast enough to outrun them, but I've been running roofs a long time. Not sure you guys can keep up and it'd get bad if you fell. We were just gonna go slow since you guys aren't used to it." The kobold takes a brief scratch of his head. "But, I dunno, I'm out of ideas. I'm not sure how many wererats there are and fighting them might draw attention, but we could be out of options. Finding somewhere else to stay while I go look for another way might be good." And I mean that because when you fail the DC for an acrobatics check to move on a roof, when there are zombies and wererats about, bad things happen.

Kip flails his hands to convey the urgency of what he's saying. "Come on, come on." The kobold licks his lips, looking frantic even as he looks around for any other rooftop path they can take to get to the tunnel. How soon approximately until the wererats arrive in our location? Or maybe their distance from us? Knowledge rolls: If any of these are applicable/needed: How bright is the sunlight by the way? Kip has light sensitivity so he suffers a -1 to attack roll and visual perception checks in bright light. Knowledge (geography) 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 or Knowledge (local) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 for knowing an alternate path

I assume I can lead them to this place? And is the water fountain on the way? "Oh, sure!" The kobold swings his arms and stretches, cracking his neck. "There is a better place, my favourite spot. It's a house with an old tower attached, but it was very secure. Had running water, a quaint garden. Somewhat hard to get to if you aren't used to running roofs. Unfortunately, it's been invaded by the wererats." He frowns. "Must've sensed one of the last good spots. Buh." He shakes his head. "Anyway, where to? Head to the tunnel directly or get some supplies first?" If Eamch is still boosting people up the roof: The kobold walks toward one end of the attic then runs towards Eamch, jumping on his laced hands for the boost before jumping up to the rooftops. Any hidden/good locations my character might know of, preferably high ground and unburnt? Important locations like food markets, equipment stores, blacksmiths, etc. too if applicable. If needed: Knowledge (Local) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Kip waves at shallowsoul and Fritz, then blinks and approaches the rabbit, leaning in. "Ooh, hello! You look interesting." He greets the orc when he appears. "I'm Kip!" he says. "Outside not looking good, I'm afraid. There are fires everywhere and those things seem to fill the streets. It might be safer to get out of the city, but we wouldn't be able to stock up once we leave." He shrugs. "This place is safe enough at the moment. Nothing immediately life-threatening. I'd recommend going up and finding another place to stay before we set about stocking up. Food and water too." He licks his lips. "There's a water fountain about four buildings west from here." The kobold looks deep in thought.

"Fire? Should still be some time before it makes its way from across the street. Not that I'm against getting out of here." Kip frowns, getting distracted. "And, uhh, I wouldn't recommend the sewers. They're easy enough for those things to stumble into, and wererats are just nasty. Though they seem to be able to get to roofs just fine if the way they were chasing me is any indication. Think I lost them a while back, but I sure don't want to meet them in the sewers of all places. Higher ground is better ground in my opinion."

Kip stands, a bit dazed, and spots the people in the room. He tenses at first, thinking them zombies, but brightens when he hears the human speak. "People!" he cries, his voice a mixture of joy and surprise. He throws his arms wide and then, seeming to realize what he's doing, drops them. "And, err, you're welcome?" He looks up and then around. When the human addresses him again, he simply nods and approaches the Dwarf to look down the hole he's crowding. "I'm so glad to see you all, I haven't seen anyone. I was lucky enough to have been delivering something when it started. Those things aren't too good at reaching roofs but they're so persistent." He rambles on, clearly elated. Think that's a move action to stand, then another for moving to the hole with shallowsoul.

Hmm. I just noticed that I didn't mention which room I crashed into. I was supposed to be in the one with Kragdash, if I recall correctly though I'll leave it up to the GM. Also, hooray for extremely convenient exit!

"Ah, Tiamat." That's the only warning you get before you hear the sharp crack of wood breaking inward as a form crashes into the room. When the debris clears, you see a small reptilian form crouched on the floor. It has black scales and small spikes decorate its back in a line. It's dressed in clothing and a pair of small wings jut out from makeshift holes in the shirt. Near it is rope, continuing out the window and seemingly leading up. |
