Seeing Kendra, Morbury's spirits rise. He nods in appreciation for the compliment. "Did you sleep well enough, Kendra?" He asks, still concerned for her mental welfare.

"Yes I slept well Morbury." she smiles softly to him as she sits down to join in the meal. "I think I will move at the end of the month. I don't wish to stay in this small town all my life."

Kendra later comes down the stairs, giving a sheepish smile.
"You're a gentleman, Morbury." she looks to the rest of the group. "Did you sort everything out lastnight with Father Grimburrow?" she asked not wanting to relive last night's events, but asking if her father's body was reconsicrated to the ground once again. Being a follower of Pharasma is difficult when your loved ones rise from the dead as abominations.

Kendra doesn't respond for a while after the shock, but she manages to pull through in a mix of a tearful sigh, looking up at Morbury and suddenly leaning over and wrapping her arms around him tightly. She started to cry into his shoulder, hurt and wanting to let it all out.

Kendra smiles as she appear to be glad that you are all okey.
"I cooked up a meal ready for you tonight. I hoped you would all return savely." she smiles in hopes to please everyone with her meal once more. "I'd like to know what you did see up there. The place has been abandoned for many years and no one has set foot in there for years."

You find no problems getting back to Kendra's home, even running across the girls from earlier who smile andwave in your direction.

Kendra comes to the the door with a welcoming smile once she sees you've arrive back.
"I'm glad you're safe. Nothing bad happened at Harrowstone did it? No one goes there because of the stories of hauntings up there."

Just noticed the rest of Mobury's message

"I'm sorry, but the things I have heard...I know that many are just stories, but there is always the fear that whatever is there might be responsable for what's happening here and if that is true, then I am not afraid to admit my fear, I am sorry." she bows her head down in shame. "I will be back at home if you need me. I hope you won't be long up there. No one has been there for many years."

"I hope she doesn't get herself into trouble. People here are still not very trust worthy of strangers, however since you all managed to get here I assume you can handle yourselves." she smiled as she looks about the group. "Is there anywhere else you wish to go? I'd like to return home and continue thinking about my decision."

Rauno:

"Some of your spells do interest me. I have some of my own that you may wish to look at." she says as she holds her spellbook close to her.

If I remember you get all level 0 so won't waste time putting them down. Spells she has are: Comprehend Languages, Feather Fall, Identify, Mage Armor, Protection from Evil, Sleep and True Strike.

Darcy:

I assume stealing is what Darcy is intending?

Stealing

Kendra smiles to the grou and back to Mobury.
"It's a shame we couldn't find any more information about these prisoners, but we have found out about most of them and I hope that's enough."

Bit slow and forgot to add up exp. You should all be 2nd level.

The Mosswater Marauder (Ispin Onyxcudgel): Only 5 years before his hometown of Mosswater was destined to be overrun and ruined by monsters from the nearby river, Ispin Onyxcudgel was a well-liked artisan and a doting husband. When he discovered his wife’s infidelity, he flew into a jealous rage and struck her dead with his hammer, shattering her skull and his sanity with one murderous blow. Wracked with shame and guilt, Ispin became convinced that if he could rebuild his wife’s skull she would come back to life—but unfortunately, he could not find the last blade-shaped fragment from the murder site. So instead, Ispin became the Mosswater Marauder. Over the course of several weeks, the cunning dwarf stalked and murdered nearly 20 people while searching for just the right skull fragment. He was captured just before murdering the daughter of a visiting nobleman from Varno, and was carted off to Harrowstone that same night.

A line from the song comes to mind with this:
With a hammer killed his wife.
Now he wants to claim your life.

The Splatter Man (Hean Feramin): Professor Feramin was a celebrated scholar of Anthroponomastics (the study of personal names and their origins) at the Quartrefaux Archives in Caliphas. Yet an accidental association with a succubus twisted and warped his study, turning it into an obsession. Feramin became obsessed with the power of a name and how he could use it to terrify and control. Soon enough, his reputation was ruined, he’d lost his tenure, and he’d developed an uncontrollable obsession with an imaginary link between a person’s name and what happens to that name when the person dies. Every few days, he would secretly arrange for his victim to find a letter from her name written in blood, perhaps smeared on a wall or spelled out with carefully arranged entrails. Once he had spelled his victim’s name, he would at last come for her, killing her in a gory mess using a complex trap or series of rigged events meant to look like an accident.

Another line, for added creepyness:
Drops of red so sparkly bright.
Splatters spell her name just right.

Kendra goes pale at the connection of this song and that is clearly had some kind of connection, especially combined with the info they came up with earlier.
"We have to tell Mobury and the others. There's not much else I can do here for the rest of the day, but I will try and figure out who this last criminal was."

Another thing the song from earlier makes me think of is the Freddy Kruger Song. "1-2 Freddy's coming for your." also came up with this only when I started to watch all the films in my collection as I had only ever seen 1 to 3 in the past.

Rauno and Kendra enter the townhall. It looks like the typical town hall in any small village and you are shown by one of the people working there where the records are and you start to research some more info on the prisoners of Harrowstone.

+2 to all checks on history of harrowstone and the five prisoners.

The Lopper: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

nothing unless you want to roll instead, not an assist. DC 25

The Mosswater Mauauder: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

with a successful assist you get the info.

The Splatter Man: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Again, assist wil be successful.

Rauno & Mobury:

As you approch the guards at first seem adament to say no, but then Kendra gets into a conversation with them.
"Kendra, we know of your father's death, but we still don't wish to allow these strangers near our sensitive records." one said, really not wanting to argue and keeping his sword sheathed.

Kendra attempts to approch this in a diplomatic manner.
"You have to let us pass. We wish to learn about Harrowstone. We have an...interest in the history of the ruined prison. Afterall, this town was built after the prison for the families of those who worked here." as she says this she doesn't appear to have convinced the men as they continue to shake their heads, remaining defiant.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

You can roll diplomacy, but if your speech is convincing enough I might waiver it as a pass. Afterall, roleplaying should be rewarded imo.

Darcy & Skyrn:

Was origonally waiting for Darcy's response, however I assume she agreed to just leave rarther than stay around anymore. Also I assume you are heading back to Kendra's.

Arriving at Kendras you find yourselves waiting a few hours before you notice the three moving into town and heading towards the town hall.

That should end up with Skyrn and Darcy meeting up with the rest of the group :)

Mobury and Rauno:

The song does make me think of various nursury rhymes about things like the plague (ring around the posies) and longdon brige being burnt down.

"I'm sorry what tune was that?" Kendra smiles and then gives Mobury a jokingly pat on the back. "As I said, I used to sing it when I was their age." she nods at Rauno's suggestion of researching at the Unfurling Scroll.

Thanks for the compliment. Most of it is the AP, but I try to change the description slightly so it isn't me simply being lazy and copy and pasting the text from the PDF. Reminds me, I need to have my alchemist get interested in making sculptures as she is going to end up making golems.

Skyrn and Darcy:

"What actions? I just went to bed and then I woke up in here." he grits his teeth as he lears at the pair of you.

As before, nothing personal but Gibs is described as hating "women who try to be men" as in women who don't wear dresses or "know their place" so...yeah he has more hatred towards a woman who is dressed in leather armour and adventuring compared to the non-human companions. Just letting you know I'm not intentionally being mean to your character.

Mobury and Rauno:

"I don't know. I heard it even when I was a little girl. Just a song kids sing I guess." she shrugs her shoulders not knowing if there is a deeper meaning to the song or not. "Could ask the kids, but I doupt it."

Very well, party split.

Kendra enjoys breakfast too with the group and once everyone is full she rises and leaves with Mobury and Rauno whilst Darcy and Skyrn head to the jail house.

Mobury, Raundo and Kendra:

As the three of you are making your way to the Unfurling Scroll you notice a group of five Varisian girlsdressed in shawls and dresses playing a skipping rope game at the side of the road. Each of the girls takes a turn, jumping in the rope whilst singing two lines of a very morbid song. The way in which they switch from skipping to passing the ends of the rope to each other to keep the whole thing going is strikingly well timed and well choreographed. The song repeats over and over in the five verses which follows:

Put her body on the bed.
Take a knife and lop her head.
Watch the blood come out the pipe.
Feeds the stirge, so nice and ripe.
Drops of red so sparkly bright.
Splatters spell her name just right.
With a hammer killed his wife.
Now he wants to claim your life.
Tricksy father tells a lie.
Listen close or you will die.

Darcy and Skyrn:

As you approch you can tell Gibs is awake from hearing his shouting and screaming to be released.
"Let me out of here! What have I done?" he continues to shout whilst the guards threaten him to calm down.

Once you arrive there are two new guards taking the posts and at first they attempt to block your path.
"Only the Sherrif is allowed in to see the prisoner." it's obvious they don't know why Gibs is here nor who brought him here.

"Good Morning, Mobury. Please, you can call me Kendra. All of you can." she says as she smiles to towards Mobury and the others. If she was feeling awkward, she certainly wasn't showing it. "It's no trouble. I felt like I...had to do this for you. You all knew my father so well and I owe you so much that, I felt this is the least I could do."

Morbury Dedlock wrote:

Morbury, shocked and stunned at what just happened, having a difficult time believing what just happened, his heart beating a thousand beats a second, for once, is at a loss for words. Wow. Just. Wow. I am unsure of how to proceed. What do I do? What do I say? Quickly gathering his wits, as he has to fight to keeps his knees from buckling, he returns her gaze with his own as he cannot help but smile. "Madam, I, uh..." He stops to recollect himself as he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, I probably should not do this, but I can longer fight it. then reopens them and returns to looking deep into her eyes. As he switches his gaze between her eyes and her lips, he places his hand gently upon her cheek, while his face inches closer to hers, "I think you truly are an amazing woman." He whispers to her as he places a finger under her chin, lifting it up at just the right angle. Morbury then inches his lips ever so closer to hers, while moving his hands and placing them on either side of her face. Looking up from her mouth to her eyes and back again, he attempts to discern if there is any objection to his inevitable action. Morbury gambling that there is none, pauses for just a brief moment and then places his lips onto hers, kissing her softly, gently, but not for a moment too long, nor too short.

As he slowly pulls away, he keeps his face only a couple of inches from hers. Smiling, "I hope my reaction, was an acceptable one, Madam." he tells her as he brushes her hair with his fingers.

She laughs, shaking her head.

"It's okey Mobury. You need to relax." she smiles as she backs away. "Now, I think we all need our rest. I need to do get ready for tomorrow to help you with the research." as she said this she heads upstairs to her own bedroom.

You get the feeling you did nothing wrong, but she is in a very rough patch after discovering her father's death was not a accident.

Next day. All who took ability damage (I think that's only darcy) regain 1 point of ability damage for the night's rest

Kendra is waiting downstairs in the morning, dressed in a simple dress and seemingly feeling much better.
"Morning everyone. I wasn't sure what you wanted, but I have prepared breakfast for everyone." she smiles softly and as you can see the breakfast isn't anything you'd get in a Inn or fancy tavern, but it's the best work for a single person with some toast, cheese and other simple, but meager portions she just managed to cook up.

Kendra smiles as Mobury conforts her in this way, being such a kind gentleman and so supportive. He had really cared for her and showed more interest in supporting her in this difficult need than going off to investigate the crypt her father had investigated. She felt a certain closeness to him and when he asked that she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips lightly, breaking it immediately as she looks up into his eyes.
"I just wanted to see how you would react..." she trails off, uncertain if what she did overstepped his boundries or if he would accept it instead.

Morbury Dedlock wrote:

Morbury immediately gets up from his seat and moves to Kendra. Placing an arm around her as he attempts to comfort her, "Forgive me, Madam. I was not aware whether or not you could hear us. I was hoping we could come up with a different question, but unfortunately, we could not." His sighs, as he face shows a look of regret.

Hearing Rauno and Darcy speak of venom, his attention quickly turns to them a moment. "Miss Darcy, I was wondering what was wrong. If you suffer from the effects from a venom, there are some restoratives within the finds from the crypt. Please, Miss Darcy, use what you need. Sir Rauno is right, if we are to visit Harrowstone on the morrow, it would be best if you are at full strength."

Turning his attention back to Kendra, "Madam, this day has been quite long for you, maybe it would be best if we all turn in and get some sleep. So, unless there is something else that needs discussing, let us get our rest." He says as he looks around at them all. "Madam, is there anything you need of me before retiring?" He asks.

Kendra nods as she looks over at Morbury.

"Yes, I'd like to discuss something privately with you Mobury." she sighs and wipes away her tears.

Once everyone has left.

"Mobury, You have been so kind to me and comforting in these hard time." she gets up, packing away the board "I was afraid to accept it, but I was right. The jurnal was too suspecious for it to be a coincidence. I feel better knowing the truth. Mobury, I want to ask something of you, but I am afraid of what you might say."

Morbury Dedlock wrote:

Unsure of how to go about this, Morbury looks to Kendra, still enamored with her trance like state, and begins. "Madam," He takes a deep breath as he glances at the others, then returns his attention back to her, "our question is; Was Professor Lorrimor's death an accident?"

The air is quite, everything so still as the spirit takes it's time and then the triangle moves to point over at a single word already prepared on the board. The answer, that will shock everyone in this world to their core "No" and with that Kendra seems to come to, though from the pale colour of her skin you get the feeling that she was still aware of her surroundings when doing this and she bites her lip as tears come to her eyes.

Morbury Dedlock wrote:

Morbury's heart races at her touch. He returns her smile with a nervous one of his own, while at the same time attempting to calm himself. He is able to somewhat, as he finally responds. "Madam, I want to help you. I know if it were myself, in the same situation, I would do whatever necessary as well." Catching himself admiring her again for a bit too long, he mentally shakes himself out of it and continues, "If this will help us in finding out exactly what happened to your father, then I am with you." He states. Another thought crosses his mind as he moves over to her and puts a hand on her shoulder. Looking deeply into her eyes, he speaks in a voice that's just above a whisper, "I want you to know, Madam, if there is anything you need of me, do not fear to ask. There is nothing I will not do for you." He tells her solemnly.

Breaking the tension quickly, "Alright Madam Kendra," he says as he rubs his hands together, "tell me how we are to perform this seance. I have never been a part of one so I am afraid you may have to give me a bit of instruction." He grins.

Rest of you simply going to bed or coming down to join in?

Kendra smiles and nods, glad that he would help her.
"I have never held one of these, but the use of the magic item should be straight forward." she looks over and starts clearing a table. "If anyone else is interested in joining us, will you go and get them Mobury?"

By the time Mobury and any others return, the dining table is set and Kendra sits at the head of the table.
Everyone, please remember to ask one single question. The power of this magic item is only powerful enough for a single question, no more. Now...let us begin." she sighs as she concentraits on the item, moving the triangle over the words, it pulling her to random words until she stops and then the words start making sence. She spells out.

What do you wish to know?

DM:

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 vs DC 11
1d100 ⇒ 40

You assume that the magic item has worked and you get to ask your single question. Kendra appears to be in some kind of trance, but unharmed.

Morbury Dedlock wrote:
Morbury looks at her with a great deal of worry, yet at the same time, wondering if this would actually help in uncovering information that would help them in knowing what really happened to her father. "Madam, if it is truly something you wish to do, then I will assist you completely." He says with a great deal of trepidation. "But, I must also tell you, this has me truly worried for your safety. With there being a chance of a spirit possessing you, it seems quite dangerous." He says with a continued worried look. Looking at Kendra he thinks to himself, If it was your parents that died mysteriously, wouldn't you go to great lengths to find out as well, Morbury? You've spoken with her, she is a strong woman, trust in her. Coming to grips with his thoughts, "Again, if this is something you feel you must do, I will be here to help you in all ways possible, as I have said, Madam Kendra." He bows his head in affirmation.

"I feel that I must" she nods as she looks over to Mobury "Please, head to bed like all the others, you have all had a long night and I'm certain you willall wany to be at full strength in the morning."

As she says this she smiles softly towards Mobury, putting her hand on his knee in some way to comfort you and in a way herself. After a while she moves away but remains silent.
"You head upstairs if you want or you could stay with me and use this magic item. It is certainly a strange magic item and I have never come across this before."

The missing items in the case make me think the professor had cause to fear their need. Some of the mystery seems to be falling into place now. I'm starting to wonder if a day trip out to the old prison might now be worth considering.
Returning to the items on the table, he remembers something he and Kendra spoke on earlier. "Madam, I remember you spoke of being a diviner. Would this planchette possibly be of any use to you? Or for that matter, do any of these items help answer any questions you may have that could possibly help us in this investigation?"

"Mobury...this item appears to be able to reach into the afterlife to contact the spirits, however there is the ever presant fear of a spirit attempting to possess the user's body." she looks at it, taking it out of the box and examining the board and the metal Planchette. "This type appears to only allow one question per day. It's answers are vauge and if we are to use this item we should all sit down for a séance. If we could speak to the other side we will know for certain of any question we wish to ask it." she bites her lip for a moment and then sighs deeply. "If we do this, I voulenteer to ask the question, but we can only do this once a day and only ask a single question. What do you think?" she seems determined to find whatever answer there could possibly be to what happened to her father as the jurnal has cast a odd suspecion on the entire event.

Morbury Dedlock wrote:

As they enter the house and are greeted by Kendra, Morbury will turn to her after she has finished talking. "Interesting night, Madam. It appears the gentleman who attempted to prevent you from burying your father, was...." he stops and thinks a moment, "different somehow. Even though he seemed a bit agitated this morn, he was a far cry from his actions this morning. I will just say if we had run into this gentleman this morning, there would have been bloodshed for certain." He ponders a moment on whether or not to continue, fearing he may put too much on her shoulders after all she has been through today. "Madam, there are a few other items of interest I could share with you, but I fear after all you have been through this day, it might be too much. I do not want to trouble you further, while on the other hand I also feel strongly you should know all the details." He tells her as he places a hand gently on her upper arm. A thought then crosses his mind, "Think on it a moment, Madam Kendra. Let me speak with the others a moment, see what else they have uncovered and I will return to see what you have decided." He excuses himself to speak to the others.

Darcy, do you need attention for the wounds from those centipedes?

Rauno will include the details on what they found in the tomb, but gloss over the encounter with the acolyte.

"Giant centipedes?" Morbury asks. "I thought this endeavor would not turn out to be so deadly." He sighs. "At least you acquired what is was you went for. And yes, Miss Darcy, take the elixir I offered you earlier. Madam Kendra has given us another, so do not fret. You cannot continue with such injuries left untreated. You all decide your rooms, I will relay what information we have to Madam Kendra. At least, what she feels she is up to knowing." He then excuses himself from the group....

Kendra listened intently as Mobury says about everything and that happened and agrees to hear the rest. Her eyes widened as she appears concerned, but at the same time curious at what evil possibly possessed her.

"This is very diturbing, I wish I could discover what was going on." she scratches her chin as she thinks on this and then looks over to Mobury "You don't need to worry, I know Ustalav has a dark past with necromancy so I have grown to expect these things. I'm more concerened about what what happened to your friends and what they found in the Crypt. There might be something in there that could answer a few questions."

Do you tell Kendra any of this?

"I'm glad to see you are all alright. Mobury and I were getting worried something had happened." Kendra says with a smile as she gets up to greet everyone. "Mobury has chosen his room, I left a note there and a note on mine and my father's so you all can have your own pick of the rooms without unpacking in someone else's room.

Morbury Dedlock wrote:

"Excuse us a moment, Madam." He tells Kendra as they step aside.

Morbury listens to Darcy's story, attempting to keep up. "I guess asking how things went would be improper at this time." He tells her with a sigh of frustration as he runs his hands through his hair. "I was worried something might have gone wrong. Okay Miss Darcy, let me get my weapon and pack and I will see if I am able to assist in any way." He then goes and retrieves his weapon and backpack.

Returning, he notices she is wounded. "You are wounded. What...?" He starts but then stops. "Do not tell me. I fear I do not want to know. Hold a moment." He then digs through his backpack for one of his healing potions. "Here take this, Miss Darcy. It will help heal some of your wounds." He then offers it to her.

Then turning to Kendra, "Madam, my associates have run into a bit of an issue. It seems my assistance is needed. Although, I am a bit torn as I do not feel comfortable leaving you here by yourself at such a late hour, but it seems it is quite imperative. Will you be okay by yourself for a bit? I do not expect us to be long." He says with an air of trepidation.

"I am flattered over your worries, but do not worry. I have lived here safely these past few weeks whilst waiting for all of you to arrive." she smiles to Mobury, seemingly understand him as she pulls out a dagger. "Not to mention, I can protect myself with this and my spells. Please take this potion of cure light wounds." she passes over to Mobury, hoping it'll help.

"Nor I, Madam, nor I. But I do have a strong feeling there is more to it than what we know on the surface." He ponders it a moment as he slowly paces. "Madam, when Miss Darcy and myself were out and about earlier today, we stopped by the Unfurling Scroll to see if we could gather any information on Harrowstone. Sadly, attempting to ascertain said information proved to be beyond our capabilities. But the proprietor of the shop did mention that you, Madam, might know of a bit of history on it. Is there any information you might know about it that might help us? Perhaps some information on the prisoners that died in the fire?" He asks carefully. "If I am asking too much, Madam, do not worry yourself in answering. You have been through a lot today, Madam Kendra, I would completely understand if you would rather not speak on it." He says, hoping that makes her feel more at ease.

She nods understandingly as Morbury shares with her his own suspecions on these events.

"Yes, I do have some knowledge of the history of Ravengrow and Harrowstone. If you wish I could got to the Unfurling Scroll and research Harrowstone, with your assistance as I am sure there are certain things you will want me to concentrait on." she smiles as she would be glad to help.

"There isn't much I recall right away about Harrowstone besides the fire destroying it in 4661 and has remained vacant. There are also tales of it being haunted, but I'm afraid at the moment that's all I know unless I do some research tomorrow."

I assume Darcy then comes through the door as she arrives to bring Mobury along.

"You do not need to thank me for listening. I like to talk about my father as it helps." she smiled slightly as she didn't like to bring up the pain so soon.

Kendra doesn't know what to do as their eyes meet and as he is about to say something she waited for what he was about to say, but then sighed as he said it wasn't important.
"I'm young, I don't need to sit down, but it would be good to sit down and pass the time whilst we wait for your associates to arrive."

"Forgive me once again, Madam, I truly did not wish to make you uncomfortable. You can turn around, Madam, it is okay. I wear this vest and shirt underneath so as to be a bit more comfortable." He tells her but can't help but feel like a fool again. Why do I continue to make a fool of myself?! Relax Morbury, you will learn. He thinks to himself in order to help him calm.

He then turns to the painting, "So that is your mother." He says in a quiet voice, yet loud enough for her to hear. "Madam, I must say, she is truly a vision. A most, beautiful woman." He tells her as he admires the picture, then unable to withhold his other thought, he turns to Kendra, "I cannot help but admit, Madam, it is obvious you take after your mother in that regard." He says sincerely as he gives her a friendly smile. "Oh and Madam, if you would, there is something I need ask of you?" He notices she looks at him curiously, "I would be most delighted if you would call me Morbury." He asks with a wide grin.

"It's quite alright. I've lived a sheltered life so I've never been so close to a man removing his clothing besides my father when I was a little girl." she says shyly "It's not your fault, you don't need to apologise."

At the mention of her mother she nods and gives a embaressed smile.
"She was a very kind and intelligent woman. I believe they met whilst he was at the university. I don't know if I'm right, but I always suspected they met whilst she was a student but didn't persue a relationship openly until she finished her studies." she laughed, somewhat smiling at the romantic idea "Thank you, Mobury. "Madam Kendra, this room is perfect and might I add, you have quite a nice home. I cannot help but feel a comforting warmth here. It reminds me of days long past..." He smiles at her as he remembers the days of living at home when his parents were alive.

Putting his things down, he starts to work on his armor. "I have got to get out of this armor. My clothes are begging for air." He explains, hoping to avoid any possible misunderstandings. "There has been a time or two I've actually fallen asleep in it. I cannot begin to tell you how exhausted I felt the entire next day. It helps deflect a weapon but it does not make good sleeping attire." He says with a smile and in a matter of fact tone.

While doing so, he studies the picture of the woman. "Madam, if I may, is that you in the picture? Or is that someone related to you that happens to look a lot like you, save the hair?" He asks curiously.

At the commend about how nice her home is she bows softly with a smile.

"Thank you, umm Mr Dedlock." she seemed unsure about simply calling you that, but once you mention about getting changed changed she blushes slightly and turns about, facing down the hall and away from the door, only turning back to look at the painting. [b]"Oh, that's my mother. Her name of Laura. The painting was made so many years ago and my father must've hung it on the wall whenever he needed inspiration in his work I guess." she trails off, rubbing her arm absentmindedly as she clearly doesn't feel comfortable being near someone when they're getting out of their armour.

Quickly gathering his wits about him, he continues, "I will be more observant this time, I promise!" He says playfully and with a big smile as raises both his hands up as if surrendering. I do not understand why these thoughts continue to invade. I must remember what I am. This is my lot in life. I have accepted that. Calm yourself, Morbury. Just calm down and stop being a fool.

Kendra smiles as she shows you to one of the spare bedrooms. It was a study recently converted to a bedroom, but it is placed right next to her own bedroom, marked in advanced with a sign that says "Kendra's" The windows overlook the town centre and up on the wall hangs a painting of a beautiful young woman who looks a lot like Kendra, only her hair is loose and pitch black.

"Don't fret, my father was often the same, forgetting things as he ran around and did his research. At times he got so engrossed in research that he once burnt his meal in the oven." she giggled remember arriving home to a kitchen full of smoke and sighs as the pain of her father returns, though she doesn't show it. "I hope the room is to your liking." she gives a soft smile as she hands you a key to the door.

"You are all guests, I couldn't imagine forcing you into the smallest room in the house and besides, my father had taken that one. Small but functional he'd always say. I better wait up for the others. I don't want to lock my guests outside."
"Thank you, Madam. I was just curious as to where to place my belongings for now. I must confess, I am starting to get a bit concerned about the others. I did not realize time had flown by so quickly and it was getting so late. Hopefully they will return shortly, otherwise, I may have no choice but to go looking for them." He tells her with a look of worry.

No need to apologise. If Mobury keeps working the angle something might happen ;) Also you other guys can chase Gibs if you want.

"They have been out for a bit, but I assume they have tried to approch the area stealthly so they could be taking their time. I'm sure they'll come back with some news." she smiles and then stands up "Can I help you unpack or do you wish to alone?"

Now you responded to my earlier ramblings by saying there must have been a great deal of pain for me growing up. Truly, I think my parents suffered greater than I, but I can tell you that in all my years, as far back as I can remember until present day, there has nary been one I have even had the honor of calling 'friend'. Much less anything more. For me, though, it is something I am forced to become accustomed to. I accept that. For one such as you, Madam, it is truly an injustice." He says sincerely. "Whatever it is you decide, Madam, I hope it is truly what will make you happy. And know that I will aide you in any way possible. That is the least I can do for you, Madam Kendra, after all you have done for me." He says with a smile as he gives her a curt bow and takes his seat. He then reaches for his tea and takes another sip.

He says as a matter of fact. "Madam, might I also add, that, you are also.... extremely...," Morbury looking directly into her eyes as he's speaking, pauses a moment as he's becoming a bit uncomfortable with where he is going. He says as the room seems to be a bit warmer than before. Calm down and stop overreacting! You are quite foolish you know. He thinks to himself, wondering why he would ever even begin to comtemplate that a woman of her stature would be interested in one such as himself. Knowing how farfetched and ridiculous that is, Morbury begins to calm down. A half-hearted smile forms from his thoughts. Ridiculous.

A few moments pass as he gets lost in his thoughts, he then remembers what else he wanted to say, "Forgive me, I lost my train of thought there a moment. Madam, I would hate for you to sell your home. There are so many memories here, it would truly be a shame. It does seem you love it so, is there nothing that will change your mind?" He sincerely asks, hoping there is something he can do to help.

I assume you guys in the crypt wish to open the sarcophagus.

contents of the sarcophagus:

I'll assume you take your time in identifying the items as Ruando has detect magic and spellcraft. This will speed thing along for clarity.
You notice that there is considerable space where items are possibly missing, but it's hard to notice as there are so many items in here and so much space.

You manage to find the following:

a dozen silver arrows
four sun rods
six flasks of holy water
10 +1 arrows
five +1 ghost touch arrows
two +1 undead bane arrows
five potions of cure light wounds
two potions of lesser restoration
a scroll of detect undead
two scrolls of hide from undead
a scroll of protection from evil

and a thin darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back—the same design that appears on the cover of the Manual of the Order of the Palatine Eye among the books in the professor’s collection. The darkwood case is worth 50 gp, and contains three objects of interest—a spirit board with a brass spirit planchette, and four iron and glass vials containing tiny, churning clouds of vapor. The vials sit in velvet-lined indentations to the left of the spirit board and planchette, along with six empty indentions—leaving 4 in these indentations but 2 obviously missing areas. The six vials are all valuable magic items called haunt siphons.

Spirit planchette:

Aura moderate divination; CL 9th
Slot none; Price 4,000 gp (brass planchette),
10,000 gp (cold iron planchette), 18,000 gp (silver planchette); Weight 5 lbs.
Description
A spirit planchette is typically found in a wooden case along with a thin wooden board printed with numerous letters and numbers. Nonmagical versions of these divination tools can be purchased in curiosity shops (typically costing 25 gp); while these items can be used as alternative components for augury spells, only magical spirit planchettes allow users to communicate with the other side. Three types of spirit planchettes exist—brass, cold iron, and silver. Each in turn allows an increasingly potent form of divination effect to be utilized. A spirit planchette requires a board to move upon, but this “board” can be made up of letters scribed upon any smooth surface—it need not be a prepared board for a spirit planchette to work.

To use a spirit planchette, you must rest your fingers lightly upon the planchette’s surface and then concentrate on the planchette (as if maintaining a spell with a duration of concentration) for 2d6 rounds while the planchette attunes itself to the ambient spirits of the area. After this time, the planchette begins to slowly slide in random patterns across the board—at this point, questions may be asked of the spirits by any of the individuals involved in the séance. The consequences of each question asked of the spirits depends upon what type of planchette is used for the divination, as summarized on the able below. The spirits reply in a language understood by the character
who asked the question, but resent such contact and give only brief answers to the questions. All questions are answered with “yes,” “no,” or “maybe,” or by spelling out a single word from the letters arranged on the board. The spirits answer each question either in the same round the question is asked (in the case of a yes, no, or maybe answer) or at a rate of one letter per round (in the case of a single word being spelled out). A spirit planchette may be used once per day—the maximum number of questions you can ask with it depends on the type of planchette being used (as detailed on the table below).

Communication with spirits can be a dangerous task, for many spirits are jealous or hateful of the living. Every time a spirit planchette is used, the user must succeed on a Will save to avoid being temporarily possessed and harmed by the angry spirits. In some areas where the spirits are particularly violent or hateful, this Will save takes a –2 penalty. The DC of this save depends on the type of spirit planchette being used. Anyone who fails the Will save becomes confused for a number of rounds (depending on the type of planchette being used), and no answer is received. The spirits in the area are not omniscient—the GM should decide whether or not the spirits would actually know the answer to the question asked, and if they do not, the answer granted is automatically “maybe.” If the GM determines that the spirits are knowledgeable about the answer, roll d% to determine whether the spirits speak truthfully or whether they lie.

difficult to post tables so I'll simply explain this type, but you could technically construct or buy more expensive variations like cold iron and silver, but you wouldn't be able to get them here.

Brass gives you a single question per use, DC is 11, confusion duration lasts 1 round, 1-60% chance of a true answer and 61-100% a lie.

Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, contact other plane, speak with dead; Cost 2,000 gp (brass spirit planchette), 5,000 gp
(cold iron spirit planchette), 9,000 gp (silver spirit planchette)

Haunt Siphon:

Aura faint necromancy; CL 3rd
Slot none; Price 400 gp; Weight 1 lb.
Description
These glass vials are held within stylized cold-iron casings etched with strange runes, necromantic designs, or other eldritch markings. Within the vial roils a small wisp of white vapor, churning as if caught in a miniature vortex of air.
To capture a haunt’s energies within a haunt siphon, you need only twist the metal casing to open the vial in the same round that the haunt manifests (a standard action)—this can be before or after the haunt has acted. You must be within the haunt’s area of influence to use a haunt siphon. When you activate a haunt siphon, it deals 3d6 points of positive energy damage to a single haunt.

If it deals enough damage to the haunt to reduce the haunt’s hit points to 0, the mist inside the haunt siphon glows green—if it does not reduce the haunt to 0 hit points, the haunt siphon is still expended and becomes nonmagical. It may take multiple haunt siphons to destroy powerful haunts. A haunt that is neutralized by a haunt siphon takes a –5 penalty on its caster level check to manifest again after its reset time passes.

A haunt siphon that neutralizes a haunt can no longer be used to harm haunts, but it can be used as a grenadelike splash weapon that deals 1d6 points of negative energy damage with a direct hit. Every creature within 5 feet of the point where the haunt siphon hits takes 1 point of negative energy damage from the splash.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, cure moderate wounds, gentle repose; Cost 200 gp

She appears caught off guard by the question as colour fills her cheeks.
"I...well no one has wanted to due to the theories about my father and work in the dark arts. The roumers moves to suggesting I was practising the arcane and raising the dead, but no one saw any proof so the whispers died down, yet no one has approched me." she says shyly, blushing as Morbury says about her being attractive.

They both appear to remain in silent for a bit before Morbury poses the question about the home.
"Well...I have not yet made up my mind. There is still a month to go before I make my decision. I...I am still unsure, but there are many positives to staying or selling my home and travelling before settling down."

He says with a wide grin as he slighty raises his teacup in a toast and then takes another sip. "So you wish to know a bit about myself, hm?" Morbury looks a bit taken aback with that question. "I must admit, I have never been asked such a question. I am not sure exactly where to begin." He tells her as he decides on where to start.

It has been many long years since their passing, but not a day goes by that I do not think of them." He pauses a moment to take another sip of his tea, smiling at the memories. No Problem, Darcy. Also sorry I missed Raundo was meant to have done this round's action. For future reference could you all put up in bold what round you're doing a action in so it get's my attention?

centipede

The giant centipede bites at Skyrn once more, yet completely missed Skyrn who side-steps it and from the attack it over-exhurts itself and collapses as the wound streaches bigger and it bleeds out.

attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

There are no more giant centipedes nearby, but there is a large sarcophogus at the end of the crypt and a hole in a wall where the vermin must've entered from.

Back at the Lorrimor Home

"Such a interesting life, though, not without pain I can imagine from what you said." she smiles as she takes her time when talking about her father. "He was a good man my father. He used to teach at Lepidstadt university, but when I was ten he retired and we moved here together. My mother had recently passed away so moving was the best for both of us. He didn't say much about what he was doing when he went away on those long trips where he must've met you and the others, but it gave me time to research and to become the diviner I am now." she says with a soft smile and thinking for a moment.

"Like everyone else I knew nothing about what he did and certain books that recovered were always questionable, but whenever I asked what he was using the books for, he never told me. That Gibs along with a few others in the town claimed it was because he was a necromancer or was planning to build flesh golems, but I knew my father wasn't up to anything like that and I can see why he didn't tell me as he wished to keep me out of danger." she smiles as she nods over to him and sighs looking over him "It was always so lonely when he wasn't here, but now it's going to be even lonlier. I doupt I'll stay here after the month has passed."

"Anyway, I was just wondering if your father may have left this key with his friend in Lepistadt, seeing how that is where we are to take the books a month hence from now." Taking another sip, "Or maybe he has it hidden out in the open, making it the last place anyone would look." He looks at Kendra for a moment, a look of thought upon his face. "But I just do not know. One as intelligent as your father, it is difficult for one such as I to understand one such as he. Wherever this key is, it is not going to be easy to find." Morbury sitting with his hand over his mouth, in a pose of pondering, contemplates on the possible location of the key. I wonder if the Professor had a secret room or some such that he could have hid the key in? It is possible, that Madam Embreth Daramid in Lepistadt has it. But that would not make any sense, though, since the Professor himself could not open the book unless he were to travel there. It is possible though. He breathes deeply as he runs his hands through his hair and then puts his hands together into the shape of a ball and places his chin on top. Think, think, think Morbury! Racking his brains, still trying to figure out where that key could possibly be, Morbury becomes mentally frustrated. Bah! This man was far too intelligent for someone such as myself to figure out where he could have possibly hidden something. It is probably right under our noses. What better place to hide something than out in the open, where no one would look. He then sits back in his chair, crosses his arms and leans his head back on the rest, staring up at the ceiling, still wondering.

Returning with a tray Kendra sets down at a table and smiles towards Morbury.

"Copper peice for your thoughts?" she asks curiously as she sits down and sips her own cup of tea as she pays attention.

After introductions, Morbury is curious about the lock on the purple book. "Madam Kendra, is there a key for this book?" He asks with a quizzical look.

Purple Book

After Rauno has read out the passages in the jurnal Kendra remains putting on a brave face, though tears start to creep out from her eyes.

Rauno will step forward and accept the key.

I have some modest training in the arcane arts, and I will open it if you'd like. I think it is important that we take a moment to catalogue the contents to make sure we know what we are transporting, when the time comes of course. Is the chest of such size that one of us can offer a hand in retrieving it?

I would be glad to accept your hospitality before the journey to Lepidstadt.

After she goes to get the chest, Rauno will quietly say to the others I am concerned about foul play here. The will almost sounded like he expected some harm to befall him before he could make another trip to Lepdistadt. At some point before we go to Lepidstadt, assuming of course all of you are willing to undertake the task, I would like to investigate the site of the professor's demise.

Kendra returns with the chest. It's a small object of oak and iron, but clearly weighs a bit. She sets it down and is nervous as Rauno opens the chest with the key, which fits into the lock perfectly. As it opens there are several old tomes and one relatively new which sits on top of the pile bearing the prase "Read me now!" scratched into the leather cover. At first glance it looks like a ledger of somekind.

Kendra looks over at the golden and red scales of Raundo, but doesn't mention it as this has all been strange having written out the notes that she sent to everyone to invite them here in the first place for the reading.

Just at that moment a man comes to the door. Kendra gets up to answer the door, greeting a familiar face from earlier.
"Councilman Hearthmount" she announces as she lets him in. He was one of the important looking men wearing a suit at the funeral.

"I would've been here sooner, but I needed to fill out some paper work." he explains as he makes his way, though appears surprised by the group's presance, but continues as he sits at the dining table, expecting you all to join as you hear him read out the will.

Once everyone is seated, Kendra gives a nod and Councilman Hearthmount clears his throat before reading out the parchment he has.
“I, Petros Lorrimor, being of sound mind, do hereby commit to this parchment my last will and testament. Let it be known that, with the exception of the specific details below, I leave my home and personal belongings entire to my daughter Kendra. Use them or sell them as you see fit, my child.

“Yet beyond the bequeathing of my personal effects, this document must serve other needs. I have arranged for the reading of this document to be delayed until all principals can be in attendance, for I have more than mere inheritance to apportion. I have two final favors to ask.

“To my old friends, I hate to impose upon you all, but there are few others who are capable of appreciating the true significance of what it is I have to ask. As some of you know, I have devoted many of my studies to all manner of evil, that I might know the enemy and inform those better positioned to stand against it. For knowledge of one’s enemy is the surest path to victory over its plans.

“And so, over the course of my lifetime, I have seen fit to acquire a significant collection of valuable but dangerous tomes, any one of which in the wrong circumstances could have led to an awkward legal situation. While the majority of these tomes remain safe under lock and key at the Lepidstadt University, I fear that a few I have borrowed remain in a trunk in my Ravengro home. While invaluable for my work in life, in death, I would prefer not to burden my daughter with the darker side of my profession, or worse still, the danger of possessing these tomes herself. As such, I am entrusting my chest of tomes to you, posthumously. I ask that you please deliver the collection to my colleagues at the University of Lepidstadt, who will put them to good use for the betterment of the cause.

“Yet before you leave for Lepidstadt, there is the matter of another favor—please delay your journey one month and spend that period of time here in Ravengro to ensure that my daughter is safe and sound. She has no one to count on now that I am gone, and if you would aid her in setting things in order for whatever she desires over the course of this month, you would have my eternal gratitude. From my savings, I have also willed to each of you a sum of one hundred platinum coins. For safekeeping, I have left these funds with Embreth Daramid, one of my most trusted friends in Lepidstadt—she has been instructed to issue this payment upon the safe delivery of the borrowed tomes no sooner than one month after the date of the reading of this will.

“I, Petros Lorrimor, hereby sign this will in Ravengro on this first day of Calistril, in the year 4720.”

Once he finishes, Councilman Vashian looks to Kendra, who thanks him.
"Thank you, Vashian." she puts on a brace fave as she ecorts him out of the house and returns. "Again, I thank you all for coming. I will need a few weeks to decide if I want to sell my home or sell it. There are so many memories here, but I want to move on too." she pauses for a moment before turning back to the group. "In the meanwhile I ask if you all remain as well just as my father asked. My home is quite large so I can offer you all seporate rooms, free boarding for the month the will requests. Make yourselves comfortable whilst I fetch the chest my father's will mentioned, but I am afraid to open it." he offers a key to anyone to open the chest for her.

Morbury seeing the pain on the woman's face, refrains from asking any other questions. Did he go alone? If so, why? And why would he go at night? That would be the worst time to go. Especially being human. All these questions running through his mind. "I will impress upon you no further, Madam. Forgive me for asking."

"It's okey I found his dissappearence...odd. If I asked him where he was going or what he was doing he'd tell me nothing, but insisted it was to keep me safe." she points out, smiling at how concerned Morbury is as are the rest of the group.

Turning from his examination of several books when Kendra re-enters the room, Skyrn speaks. "I too have no idea why I would be mentioned in his will. While I greatly appreciate what he has done for me, I had no idea that anything like this would happen to me; perhaps it had something to do with the manner of his death? If you don't mind me asking, how did he die?"

Kendra grows silent, but nods as she knows you would all wish to know what happened.

"He was exploring old Harrowstone. It used to be a penetentury where the most vile criminals in all of Golarian were taken. I...do not know much, most people stay away from there because of the sounds of wailing at night, but there was once a fire up there, killing all the prisoners and guards who were trapped with them, including the warden." she sighs as she's building up to how her father died "He was exploring the building and we found his body in the morning. A peice of a gargoyal fell and crushed his face on impact. It was horrible. He wanted a wake but, with his face in such a condition it wasn't possible."

I'm a bit surprised to be asked to remain for the will reading. During our many long talks, I expressed interest in his extensive book collection. But I always made it clear that I felt a need to be, well, mobile. Not everyone is accepting of me as the professor has been. I thought I had made it clear to him, many times and many ways, that I did not feel his claim of debt to me was valid.

After an awkward moment he adds I could never tell what he was thinking. And he still confounds me.

"You and me both". "I only met the guy one time and I'm in his will". "Something is fishy here".

My father kept many secrets, it's local knowledge he researched evil powers, but I do not know why. Kendra explains to the group as she sets down the tea, enough cups for everyone. "I don't know why you have been invited, I'd like to know too but you are all mentioned in his will."
