At least it looks very elementary evil.

nevermind the past post first line, my browser was been naughty.

We didn't randomly translated thinks. For example, the skill "streetwise" doen't have a similar in spanish. More related would be "callejeo" as it means some street knowledge, as is implied in the skill. Devir went with "Recursos" or Resources. We can see the idea, of a Street Resource, but the translation sucks. But, we couldn't find any better, so we went for "Recursos". As much as possible we tried to be coherent with Devir. The used some things better than us, for example the "Marks" the defender use, we translated it as "Marca", pretty staightforward. Devir used "Señal" which was better, as "Marca" is a more generic thing and could be confused with other kinds of marks.

I think if the north-american market wasn't the 70-80% they would have more breathing space. But as that market flow they flow.

what just happened! I was trying to reply somthing. So sorry for the pas post.

In the power "Eye Bite" the Warlock look into one persons mind and turn invisible for a couple of seconds for him. "Mal de Ojo" is more of a permanent curse that's related with jinxes. Also the 3rd edition official translation was "Mirada Penetrante".

First, sorry for spelling-errors. I'm from Cuba and a diehard D&D fan. I've tumbled with the various editions, and except for OD&D I've tested all. I also tried my luck with Pathfinder... and GURPS. In my country there is NO market for Tabletop RPGs as no companies have editorial space, only state companies. And they don't care about that stuff. Heck, even common literature is not really printed regularly. General books are imported or selled by speciallized individuals and on international fairs.
All that said, I've been playing a self-taught game of D&D that started in 2004 and has been a little bumpy, starting by the unavailability of dice, rulebooks, and whatnot. And I know for a fact, as a result of my search for resources, that other spanish speaking countries have it only a little better. In Spain, for example, there is a thriving community of gamers of D&D of all editions AND pathfinder. But, they have to work, of course, with homemade translations and limited supplies. As a result, lots of indie games have rised in the spanish-speaking world, but no one can claim the market. D&D and Pathfinder ARE the industry standard in those countries, and some indie games borrow heavily from those, thanks to the SRD, as well from GURPS for the d6 mechanic. Dice are expensive.
All my books are illegaly downloaded, except for Pathfinder Core Rules, that was facilitated by this generous community in the digital format. But, Pathfinder is difficult, as it requires lots of knowledge before the fact. Knowledge that a begginer can get a little more easy on the game table, but tediously from the books. The fact that those books are in a foreign language doesn't make the task any easier. As a result, I currently direct regular sessions of 5th edition on sunday afternoon of the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, and even if I enjoy the experience, I think there is lots of tiny flaws in this edition, that are residues of previous editions legacies. Also, as an ex-4th edition GM, I welcome the fast paced structure of 5th edition (which is also in pathfinder, so you know I know) but I miss a lot of the normalization and modularity of the 4th edition. If Paizo published Pathfinder in my language in my country it would sell. The same can be said for WotC.
Meaning, it is time for an aggressive internationalization of the hobby. I'm sure freelancers could be hire for the task. For example, we translated almost all the rules in 4th edition books, call it core rules or supplements, and we are more satisfied with our translation decisions than those from Devir, the brazilian translator for portuguese and spanish translations (for example, the warlock power Eyebite, was translated as Visual Bite ("Mordida Visual"), and we call it, a year before them, Penetrating Gaze ("Mirada Penetrante")). We also translated most of Pathfinder rules (about 70%).
Well, that's my grain of salt.

Steel_wind, I'm very sorry for poking you this way, but I'm despaired. You haven't answered my mails and the only thing I need is for you to tell me to piss off. If you ever got any of my mails, I'm in need to go to Havana and it's an expensive travel so I saved some money for the travel by the arrival of the loot. But now I thing that is never going to happen, so all I need is a confirmation. Man, is cool. We aren't worse than before, and little by little I'm printing parts of the main core book and the adventure path translated by us. So, once again, the beast is dying, all it needs is a coup-de-grace. Once again, sorry.

A sandbox? I'm into that! I'll see what I can snatch, I mean, get inspire of.

I'm back, baby! More than a month without posting! But it has been a full month. My wife got operated and is in bed for the next months, I'm been through hell balancing work and housecare. We reduced the roleplaying sessions to only Friday nights because it's hard for me to clean after DMing a whole session. At least the Friday session it's shorter and I have the rest of the Saturday to clean.

Well, we ended the D0 adventure, with all success. Now we are dwelling in the Rise of the Runelords adventure path. So far, so good. We got some new members. Fully new, because they are some kids from the vicinities and they are complete newbies in the joint. But they are doing very well. The veterans treat them very well and they are getting the pace really quick.

People, sorry for the absence. Please, keep posting, it make me and my crew very happy. It's good to know you are there

I've tried for two weeks to update this post but my Internet has been sucking lately a lot more than usually. This page hangs everytime I try to post so I bailed. Today seems to work, so, no time to waste. The D0 has lasted more than I expected. The session were bumpy because the weather and the attendance had been weak. But we are finishing it in the next sessions - hey, maybe today - and I'm starting Rise of the Runelords. A friend printed the Map Folio in a crappy black and white printer but, hey, I got the maps! The players are getting the hang of the game and rules are flowing slowly into our reach. A few months from now we'll be back to my campaign but only when we feel comfortable with the rules.

We have new people in the group. A couple of kids from the city came to me asking for D&D. They surprised me and I included them in the current game. They are doing very good so far and are getting the knack of the roleplaying very fast.

Tomorrow is my birthday! And my father is at the hospital for the next two days and I must stay with him tonight. So I'll receive my birthday with my father so it's not that bad. But I'll be clubbed tomorrow. Anyway, this Friday I'll continue and maybe finish the D0 adventure. If that is the case I'll start the Saturday with another quick adventure, maybe the D1 or something like that until I'm comfortable with the system. I've been reading the Gamemastery Guide and it's awesome! I'm really thrilled to continue the campaign. The 3rd DM is currently translating to spanish the main rules so the other players have an easier time with Pathfinder.

More than lazy, I would say messy. The love the trash talk on the table and I expend a lot of time keeping the order. But they aren't undisciplined just merry. And sometimes I can't avoid been merry too. It's unavoidable to make a joke at some players or NPCs expenses, so I'm not a very good example. Well, things to work out.

But they are fearless. They would try any character I throw at them. You have to see our regular 4e barbarian playing a Warlock in the 4e. And he is our Pathfinder Cleric. A little violent cleric, I must say. So, no cliches here.

I've been trying to post this the whole day. Zhitti Internet.

Well, I bailed. My campaign is currently on hold and I think it's the best choice. This saturday I started playing Pathfinder with "D0 Hollows Last Hope" so I can get accustomed to the game mechanics. Also, I found that I remember less things about the 3.5 edition that I though. So, the session was a little bit bumpy. But, hey, it was the first after all.

The main effect was what I expected. The players focused more on the roleplaying part and less in the combat. We had only two fights, one with a Constrictor Snake that went very well: no major wounds, very fast. The other was against the guardian of the witch cottage. That one was a little harder 'cause it stunlocked the barbarian so the main DPR dealer was negated and the fight tool longer and the wizard was disabled during the fight. More than that it was a very good session. I impelled my newest player with a letter from his dying grandmother as a Player's Hook and he drove it very nice. He even sounded truthfully worried about her fate. I must remember to give him some extra xp later. Not only that, he is the group Paladin and declared spontaneously that he required no rewards, only his grandmother to be fine. Swell. I left them resting at witch cottage for the night and getting ready to continue the quest in the next morning.

Steel_Wind, you rock! Thats awesome. I went to the site and it's amazing the effort. Tell me how I can help you from here.

Well, yesterday night happened what I though it would happen: the corebooks prevented playing. My crew stare at them and then reseted my work and created their own sheets. I'm now tunning this afternoon adventure so that it can overlap on the main campaign as they're starting as 1st level characters in pathfinder. I have an idea and the next Monday I'll tell you how it came out.

Wow -- I like your campaign, Keichiku -- gonna have to steal a few elements for my own use.

Well, it's a long post, but I want to answer in the best way because I enjoy it so much.

When I wrote about my campaign I didn't went in too much details but the town Greenhill is currently besieged by numerous monsters and similar. The dwellers are not very concern.
Spoiler:
is because an old magic surround the place and nothing can enter the town with killing intent.

The players has their doubts but don't really know. Also in the way to the necromancer's lair a pair of giants passed by and scared their horses so they had to walk the rest of the way. In the paving issue my PCs are a little violent but they can talk their way out or more like their way in a fight.

About the silver dragon, well, the Draconomicon 2: Metallic Dragon gave me the idea. You see... major spoilers:

Spoiler:
This is subjected to changes, especially now when I'm considering Golarion. The thing is, very resumed, that a goddess had a child with a mortal in mortal form, the child was sacrificed and his soul forged in sword later. The sword has the capabilities to kill a god. Graz'zt (this is one possible change) wants the sword to kill Orcus (another change too) and Demogorgon and claim sovereignty of the hells and more so he is looking for the vault where is hidden. The vault is sealed with the blood of the child's child (yes the child was an adult when she was sacrificed). A sorcerer is aware of the situation and is trying to find the heir to kill him/her before Graz'zt find him/her. He is pretty sure that he/she is in Imaeria so his minions are creating majors problems around the country form him to infiltrate the court and find the heir. Bahamut is aware of the situation and fears that Tiamat could learn about the situation and trough and emissary is helping a few group of heroes (not only them) so they can stop the situation. Oh, and the necromancer is dead and was betrayed by the sorcerer, this search has been going for a century more or less.

Well, the zombie dragon has never occurred to me. It's a great idea! actually I think how I can make it happen. They killed a huge spider in the rescue and well, see the spoiler. But yours is better.

Spoiler:
The God of Spiders (Lloth?) is looking for payback

Well, about the multiplicity, is intended. I always loved that in the great RPGs and it help me to improvise stuff so I'm never gotten with my pants down. And there is more lying in the background.

Sorry about "clubbed". I mean with it "to be in pain in every part of the body due to extreme effort with an effect similar as been hit with an stick or other mauling device in all the body by an angry gorilla who thinks that his wife is cheating him with you".

YES! I have the pdfs. They are so cool! And the monsters are awesome! And the races pictures rock hard! aaahh! I think I'm going to have an stroke! Well, tonight it's our game if it's not raining (on this days it has been raining a lot). I'm preparing the sheets that I skewed the past week so our players could test the pathfinder. I intend to play a "kokosolo", thats how we (the group) call a single, action oriented adventure designed to play a fast game or test players in stress situation (combat). I'm looking forward to it. Thank all the people here the make it possible. I'm going to throw a few NPCs later with your names in my campaign. Tell me if you prefer an specific alignment.

It's big family time for us so a 'Well, I have a game tonight!' might not quite work for a few more trips but we'll see when I'll be going back more for exploration than beaching. Something I am definitely planing but in a few years, I'm keeping Havana for that type of trip!

Oh, too bad. I'm also a little far from Havana as you know. Anyway, if anything take you on this side of the world remember that we're here.

Man, anything would be helpful and if there is no problem tell me your email so I can send my mail address. In here there should be no copyright issues because, well, there is no distribution at all but if that's an issue in your place, don't sweat it. I think I could get my hands in the pdf by tomorrow cause they are too large for my Internet connexion and a friend of mine is currently doing so. I hope he has no problems downloading it. I managed to get the campaign setting of Golarion via sailors with patched eyes and is very interesting. I'm seriously thinking in crossing my campaign to Golarion but we'll see. Also, I see if I can scan the drawings of our last session so you all can see it.

A night of events:
That night a terrible storm hit the town. The players helped with the maintenance and repair of the inn and were clubbed all the night. They rested till late morning. They were acclaimed as heroes when they went to the tavern. As they drank and talk a man irrupted screaming about a murder. They followed him to a poor house with the door busted. They searched the surroundings and found a few tracks. Inside the house was a dead woman with marks of claws of what the players could conclude were a lycanthrope's work. An elf called Eranyl walked in the room asking the players to follow him as a group of people gathered around the house. He asked for the players help in another matter. The player asked about the murder and he answered some questions but asked to hurry to the matter he brought to them. The thing was a local forest was burned during the storm and it seems that it wasn't an accident. A druid in the vicinity demanded the town to give him the culprits or he'll make the whole town pay. Eranyl asked the players to go talk to the druid so as outsiders they could find common ground.

They departed to the druid's place and in a twist of the road a weird man was standing in the way. The man smiling demanded a tax for the "road repair" and the players suggested they could pave the road for them. They man rejected the "offer" and swiftly vanished in the forest. A while longer they reached a bridge. It seamed precarious but it was surprisingly strong and crossed with no problems but the cleric felted some kind of nature magic in it. The next in the next area there were no roads but the forest allowed them to walk in what seems a natural route. In a few minutes the reached a house-tree and in the door, an old man was standing. The player convinced the druid (who was the old man, obviously) that they would help him and he gave them a compass. That compass would point the culprits but they would have to be very near them. He also tall them that they had a week to find the responsible.

In the way back, passing the rope bridge they were armed and ready for an ambush... and it happened. The bandits attacked using a pair of ogres as weapons (and they weapons too) but the players swiftly retaliated and the leader and the bandits ran back to the forest. The ogres fought to death. And the situation is in that point right now.

Hello everybody! Before chronicling the Friday night game a would like to thanks the good work of all you people. mbaum, thanks A LOT for the purchase, I'm currently negotiating with a friend to download the files because they are too big for my current connexion. Nevertheless, thank you so much, and thanks Baracutey for your prayers. My father is doing very well and his next treatment in two weeks.

The Friday night session was very bumped. Not in itself but in coming to happen. We always play in my house (actually it's my wife's house) but this Friday we played in a friend's house. Well, he wasn't there at the time and some other members of the crew didn't found the house or were busy and couldn't go. So, we almost didn't played mainly because the group wizard didn't went. But at 9pm we had a nice crew gathered and one of our players is in the army and only gets out alternate days, so if he didn't played that Friday, he couldn't play until the next weekend. Besides all the troubles, it was a nice session. Our host is a graphic artist and he draw the whole sessions. I'll try to scan the drawings so you can see the session in action. Please tell me how I can post the pictures.

What a long night! The chair at the hospital was horrible and I'm really clubbed. Luckily, my father is doing well so far and is in good spirit. I hope he keeps that way. I expect to sleep the rest of the day and this evening I have to prepare the Character Sheets for tomorrow game (lazy players). So, go day to everybody and see you tomorrow.

In order for such gaming supplies to be able to actually reach you, you need to send me, via an e-mail addressed to steelwind at d20radio.com (substitute in the @ symbol for "at" as I don't want a spambot grabbing that address and spamming me at that e-mail address) your physical address within Cuba.

So: send me your mailing details so that if we send a parcel to you in Cuba, you will be able to actually receive it. What address do we put on the package to send you gaming stuff, amigo? :D

I sent you the mail with the address. You MUST include a picture of your crew so we can make an altar to pay you tribute. Man, you're in the way of being canonized.

Well, I was a little rushed so I didn't went into details but a lot more happened. For example as they were exploring the dungeon they found a barrel with a rest of some kind black mud. The group barbarian touched with a torch and yes, a big explosion occurred. Some of the player went flying to the next room, other eat the full explosion and others stood in the way to protect the more frails. The ones that were expelled by the explosion found themselves in a room full of undeads, some of them really nasty. So they were scrambled, wounded, and surrounded. Very nice way to start a fight. For the monster, of course.

As in regard of help what we lack more is dice and miniatures, if you can get any (maybe old ones?) we would be very happy. Please tell me how I can post my mail address.

About the Friday session and Saturday afternoon, I'll post the results the next Monday. Don't worry about the monsters, I'm very strict in that point. Last session I ambushed them with 3 gargoyles and they really sweat it with the hit and run tactics (more like hit and fly). Until they managed to pin the foes they were foaming in anger. Anger at the gargoyles, of course.

My father is receiving cancer treatment (nothing too serious) in the next days so I'll be a little off. Also, our campaign continues in the Friday night, so there is no actual update until Monday. Anyway, I would like to answer a few post in the best of my possibilities.

At least in honor of the hard work of the Paizo people. In regard of the internet, it's not only for me. Actually is more for my players than for me. And I tend to be a little lazy with the PbP.

This is probably one of the coolest gamer hacks I've ever read about. You hear about prisoners in the US and some of their creative solutions for getting to play (dice are not permitted because of the potential for gambling), but this is the first time I've heard of somebody making a handmade roulette wheel, out of a hard-drive no-less to simulate a die.

Well, it took us a little work, but I've expended my life around computers and my trash bin is full with broken stuff. And the hard drive motor has a wonderful rotation. The problem was stopping the rotation. It could be going around for hours if you let it. We also use numbered papers in a can, but it would broke to fast. And then was dice roller software, which was what we mostly used. The roulette was mainly for the days (and nights) of blackouts.

Well, we don't have any artisan in the group, and my crew is very... chaotic good? so, creating the dices was a though solution but we were unable to put in practice. However, another group (a subgroup, from one of our players) did create a d20 dice of clay. But it broke, and also malformed, not in that order.

Indeed the only way of sending anything to Cuba would be by way of another country. I guess anybody could gift the pdfs and keichiku could print them... (to long to quote! awesome!)

First, sorry for answering in English, is so everybody can read it. Printing the PDF is another BIG issue. We made a HUGE, actually GARGANTUAN effort to print the three main core books of the DnD 4e. It cost us a lot (about 1 peso the sheet) and it was cheap. Printing the 567 pages monster of pathfinder is not going to be an option. And that doesn't includes any other book. But we'll see. Also, as far as I can tell getting a real Core Book from ashore is asking too much. Maybe and old book, or a discarded one. Hey, maybe a yard sale as charity? I don't know. And actually, I preferred is that wasn't the solution. I preferred I could actually buy it for ourselves. Pirated copies aside, I managed to get the Beta Core Books and it was astonishing. Paizo deserves his money.

The story of our campaign is set and island-continent in the north east of the world, Arza. They crossed the ocean searching for their mentor who is currently MIA, but shipwrecked in the north shore of Imaeria. After barely surviving the accident the sough shelter in an abandoned tower. In there the discovered a female dwarf kidnapped by a band of hobgoblins and later captured by a Giant Spider. They defeated the hobgoblins, killed the spider and rescued the dwarf. But her condition were perilous so they carried her to the town. Town they discovered a while after. The poison in the dwarf was very strong so the husband, a very wealthy dwarf merchant commissioned the adventurers to find a cure in a old necromancer's lair. In there the wizard was victim of an incomplete ritual and was banished. The party tried to fix the ritual but when the wizard returned it was transformed from human to tieflin. After defeating a few monstrosities the found the antidote but in the way back, they where ambushed by an mysterious fiend. As the players managed to turn the situation the fiend destroyed the pilars of the lair and collapsed the entire ruin.

They survived (obviously!) only to find a large dungeon in the base of the lair. As they looked for an exit, faced very dangerous enemies and hinted the fate of the necromancer. At the end of the dungeon, after activating a gigantic device, a green dragon, captured by the late necromancer pinned the party and as a "thanks" for releasing him he offer to only eat a couple of them. The rest could leave. Unwillingly to render one their own, the bargained hard with the dragon, ultimately making him angry as he decided to eat all of them. He was suddenly stopped by a silver dragon who destroyed it with a flick of the hand (or paw, or claw, IDK). She restored the wizard to his old condition and took the crew to the dragon treasure, but only let them take a few objects and gold. After that took them out of the dungeon and warned about a few events to come.

They party is now resting in town as the dwarf is save with the cure. They don't foresee that a terrible murder is going to shake the village the next morning.

I'm new in Paizo but I've lurked around here a few times before deciding to become a member. The main reason is my intend to use Pathfinder as my regular system for ruling my current campaign. I intend to post the events of the campaign as they go trough.

I live in Cuba, where due to political and economical restrictions... and the lack of culture about the subject, there is no way of acquiring roleplaying material. Even worst, I don't live in the capital, but in Holguín, a city in the northeast of the country. Ergo, is a major effort to play any kind of PnP RPG here in all the aspects: lack of dices, lack of corebooks, lack of personal. Luckily we don't lack imagination and perseverance. And with an effort lasting six years with are playing DnD with all success. We own 2 set of chessex dices, a few miniatures (you have to see our elf cleric with a dwarven miniature, it't the shortest elf ever), four tiles and the printed pirated copies of the three main corebooks of the 4e DnD. It's better now than before when we only had printed square paper (in an old dot printer), and a homemade roulette with parts of an old hard-drive with number painted to simulate the dices. Neat.

So, in the next weeks I'll tell you about our games and how is going. Please tell me what you think about it. Thanks in advance.

I'm speechless (luckily not wordless). I didn't intended this but I greatly appreciate it. You have no idea how big is the help you provide. We have to work out hard every bit of material even the tiniest to have a decent game. Don't be in any way obliged but I added the three "main" books + DM Screen. Nevertheless, if anyone find a way that allow me to buy this, please give me a ring and I sell my sheep to buy it.

PS: I think I'll create a thread about our games over here.

The easiest way is for some one to gift or loan you the $10 on this side. I would but my gaming budget is empty till the first of next month.

The problem is that is easier to ask for a friend to buy a 100$ working tool than a 10$ "toy" for an adult. I know I can't. I have a friend in New York that could help me, but I can't find a way to ask for that. And it would be better if there is a way of payment from this "lovely" country so eventually I can buy the other books without compromising the goodwill of my friends overseas.

Oh, also, thank you so much for the offer. You are very kind. Even if you can't thank you only for thinking it.

Hello, I am from Cuba, an island in the Mexican Gulf with a complicated reputation. I'm not a English native speaker so pardon me the grammar. I live in the east of the country, very far from the capital city Havana, and for the last 6 years I've promoted the rpg here which has a null existence. We mainly use DnD, first AD&D 2nd, then 3.5 and currently 4e. But I'm not completely satisfied with 4e and I really miss the deepness that 3.5 had. A friend from Spain tall me about Pathfinder and I was very intrigued. Unfortunately, we don't have ANY rpg store in the country. So, the only way is the imports. And above all, the average annual salary is 200$, so expending 60$ in a book is not viable. But 10 bucks in a PDF is much better, more if a group of people work together (they are going to use it together anyway). The problem once again is the payment problem because not only we don't have easy access to international credit cards, but also is the embargo issue.

I ask, or more, I beg, is there any workaround? I wouldn't mind pay, but how?

In case anyone wonder, yes, the previous system used where all, sadly, pirated pdf copies. Pity.
