About Aurora Volant

Background:

ELEMENTS

1 – Aurora is never seen in public in her true form. She has become fairly well known in her human form for her enraptured dancing, and skills as a geisha. She also will never been seen in her human form performing any of her deadlier actions. In her mind, her two appearances are independent entities. Her human form is a celebrity, loved by everyone and known as kind and alluring. While her fox form is agile and deadly, feared throughout the region, and is known only as “The night fox”.

2 – She uses her celebrity to mark targets, and to do reconnaissance, hiding in plain sight. Poison has it uses, but a charming smile and alluring dance can get secrets just as easily. She is just as comfortable dancing in a lavish ballroom, as she is sneaking through the rafters.

3 – She was raised by her mother, a constantly disapproving individual, whom taught her how to be a geisha, but made Aurora feel as if she was never good enough. Her mother was killed by a jealous nobleman who took offense to the fact that she refused to dance for him alone. Aurora sought out her ninja dojo to learn the necessary skills to avenge her mother.

4 – Because of the events of her past, Aurora is extremely distrustful of men, especially noblemen, and is quick to mark a male target for death for even the smallest slight against a woman.

5 – Aurora leaves a signature mark on all her targets. A small fox bite is left on the back of the target’s left shoulder, reminiscent of if someone was bit while in a lover’s embrace.

6 – At her core however, Aurora is deeply insecure, her passion for both of her personalities is driven by a deep seated insecurity that she feels she is never quite worthy of the attention she receives and is perpetually driven to improve her crafts because of this.

GOALS

1 – Fame and Infamy. Aurora actively seeks to be part of higher society, using her skills to rise within the circles of the noble ranks. Once there, she revels in any gossip about the mysterious ninja that has been attacking those around her.

2 – Aurora is subconsciously looking for the approval her mother that she is good enough, which she will never get. Over the course of the campaign, Aurora should slowly find acceptance in this fact, and learn to appreciate her own skills and worth, without needing others to approve of it.

SECRETS

1 – Aurora is deeply insecure. Even the smallest amounts of criticism will bring her into an internalized loop of depression. Severe enough criticism has caused her to go to extreme measures in the past to try and fix whatever slight she believe caused the criticism.

2 – Aurora has a sister that she does not know abou. Her mother had a child before she was born with a minor nobleman at the time. Her sister’s father has known risen through the ranks to be a fairly prestigious nobleman, and her sister has become an airy debutante, hoping to get married off to some prince charming. Both the father and the sister know of Aurora’s existence but have never met her.

PEOPLE

1 – Akiki Volant. Her mother. Though dead, Aurora still constantly seeks to try and get her mother’s approval, believing that her mother’s spirit is still watching her, judging her.

2 – Daiki Kitsumara. Her mother’s killer. A major nobleman, well respected, and generally well received. He has used his influence and station to raise himself above the laws of the lands more than a few times. He fundamentally believes laws are for people below his station in life.

3 – Tai Nitsu. A fellow ninja from her dojo. A wayang girl who joined at around the same time. They trained together, and became first reluctant, and now close friends, though they rarely see each other any longer as their lives have taken them on different paths.

MEMORIES

1 – The first time her mother smiled during one of her dances. She was still in her early teens at the time, but she still recalls the first, of only a handful of times, that her mother actually looked please with her performance. Trying to recreate this memory again is one of the driving forces of her life.

2 – Her mother’s death. She was travelling with her mother, and it was supposed to be just another show. She recalls the bruises and horror on her mother’s face when they found her backstage.
3 – Her first kill. She recalls the satisfaction of righting an injustice. The man she killed had tried to lay a hand on another of her dancers for denying his advances.
