What I usually do is not let the players read the whole book, but only the part about their own race/class and the combat section. If they have a spellcaster, also the spells section. But most of the time new players play a fighter or a barbarian.

Sometimes we also have the language problem, but most Dutch people I DM for can read English well enough to understand the rules.

So far not bad. I have a good dm.

I like high charisma, Then again what I choose to play is not fighters. With me it's languages I play a Gaesha so thats says everything. Now working on a ballerina . I can speak japanese so I play that as her main language. Two weeks and five days of studying Gaesha was intresting to do.

I am a language student so actually having to read the books is a pain for me. I will admit to being a nightmare player. I have a ballerina who needs Finishing touches but I think I have a cool dm.
((Technically monk class but hay having been a ballet student I can make the connection. ))
I am waiting for the asian book to come out. ( Probably would make me cringe though on how off it will be.)
