Stabilization, Heart of Wilderness (DC 18): 1d20 + 3 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 5 = 16 Fail. HP -9. Dead at -17. Man! I write up a cocky, sure-of-himself ranger and its going to get 2 people killed. Sorry Tarin, my apologies.

He moves forward to stand over the fallen warrior and holds his shield cautiously, striking at the smaller vultures before they can do further damage to his new ally. AC 22, HP 13/13, Fighting Defensively. Striking the larger hatchling to the south first. "Do you not recognize me? I am Kalb al-Solku. You are not dressed as a foreigner, despite your accent. Surely you must have heard of me, for my prowess is legendary across Katapesh. Gnolls speak my name in huddled whispers as they cower around their fires, fearful of the future. Indeed, it took a sandstorm to best me where gnolls could not. I sought shelter here, in this cave. The vultures were a surprise. I do not remember them being here as I rested."

HP 13/13; AC 20/12/16; CMD 17; F+5/R+4/W+2; Init +2; Perc +6 Kalb replies to the firey figure in the doorway, "Not without my spear. I must have dropped it in the nest, and I'll be buried in Nex before I let some overgrown vulture keep my gnoll-sticker. And also, I can't let something get away with trying to eat me. It would ruin my reputation." Still not able to understand a word the closer man said, and thinking him either pesh-addled or div-possessed, he casts a hasty glance at him and readies his shield. Then, he cautiously moves forward, holding it between him and the geier. He steps carefully in the thick weeds and stops his advance near the edge of the nest, not quite even with the other swordsman. He looks around for his spear, hoping he dropped it in the nest and not out in the dunes. "I don't let other people fight my battles for me," he says, with a nod to the hooded warrior. Move action: ready shield. Move action: advance 10' forward through the rough terrain to diagonally below Tarin.

HP 13/13; AC 20/12/16; CMD 17; F+5/R+4/W+2; Init +2; Perc +6 Kalb startles as two men rush into the brush from the wall to his left and more shadows crowd around in the darkness beyond. Still somewhat dazed from the ordeal, he in uncertain if the cry for assistance that came beyond the wall is meant for him or the bird. Accordingly, he shifts his stance to place his back against the wall and watches the newcomers warily (Move 10' south, Total Defense). Then, the closest of them starts jabbering at the bird in some bizzare dialect and the bird stretches out its wings and jumps back to the nest. "Sarenrae's radiant t~&!," Kalb curses and points his sword at the turbaned beastmaster. "I'm not going to go down without a fight. I cut your bird up pretty good, but I'll do worse to you if you don't back the hell up right now." His voice quavers a bit from exhaustion and dehydration, but the sword point is solid as stone - it doesn't waver a bit. As I understand, a withdrawal action only prevents AoOs from the first square exited. Movement through other squares still provokes as normal. In this case, would Tarin get his attack as it jumps over him?

Seeing the angry avian about to snap at him, he tries to vault over the lip of the nest while he fumbles for his sword. Acrobatics to avoid AoO, ACP: 1d20 + 7 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 7 - 3 = 20 Stand as a move action, then draw sword as move west 20 ft.

HP 13/13; AC 20/12/16; CMD 17; F+5/R+4/W+2; Init +2; Perc +6 With work, school, and family, I only get so much time to game so I won't waste my time playing a character I'm not interested in. I am interested in playing Kalb. I had a few front-line fighter type concepts for this, and I was able to modify one to fit neatly into the trapfinder/frontline hybrid to cover roles the group needs. Win-win. Bookeeping: There is a mistake in Stats, with the array 18,15,14,14,14,10 he can have a Str 18, Dex 14, and Con 17, or a Str 18, Dex 15, Con 16, but not a Str 18, Dex 15, Con 17 as written. I went back and forth between higher Dex or Con. I decided on Con for frontliner (and hard mode!), so the 15 dex is a typo. Fixed. His back story uses the name Farouq, but it's not part of his name? Was this just his childhood name, or perhaps an old name you forgot to change?
I think your disable device is +1 too high, as trapfinding only gives 1/2 level (min +1). Does he get another +1 from somewhere?
He's also got 1 skill point too many (Ranger +6, Int +2, Dex +2) since you traded Skilled for Heart of the Wilderness and put your favoured class in HP.
For weapons, Javelins only do 1d6, not 1d8, and attack should be +1 Melee/+4 Ranged
Please add your Carry Capacity and current carry weight when you can.
Everything else looks good.

HP 13/13; AC 20/12/16; CMD 17; F+5/R+4/W+2; Init +2; Perc +6 Trapper ranger work in progress in this profile. Very rough backstory: Grew up in a village near Solku. Gnolls murdered his entire family during the Siege of Solku. He has sworn to kill every last gnoll in Katapesh. After serving for a time as a scout for Solku, he has learned of Almah's mission and quit his old job to go help her. I think Kalb will fit the party's needs better. He can fight, pick traps, and sneak around.
Submitting Flinder the First, dwarven magus, for consideration in the martial category. GM: Full disclosure: I listened to the Pathfinder Chronicles podcast for the first module (Crypt) about a year-and-a-half ago when I was looking for a first-level module for a friend & first-time GM to run. I've not looked at the actual module, and honestly don't remember much about plot, except that there are skeletons and some kind of amulet. If that's too much knowledge, I will withdraw my submission. |
