Background:

Kachirou Gifu’s mother immigrated from Tian Xia to Talingarde in his first year of life, to get out of slavery. Having heard of the good here, she hoped that Kachirou could live a happy life, having more than she ever had. She worked her way into the nobility, using her shape changing abilities to become the type of woman or man any of the nobles would want. As such, Kachirou grew up with the other noble children, learning from a young age to be civil and courteous. Until one day when he was three, he showed the other kids how he could change into his normal state. The children ran screaming to their parents, and their heritage was shown for what it really was. They were immediately cast out, especially when it was revealed exactly what his mother was trying to do.

Now back to having nothing, his mother had to live whatever way she could, mainly involving stealing and other illegal activities. Kachirou didn’t understand why they could go back to the pretty houses with lots of good things to eat. Eventually his mother was caught stealing a priceless jewel from one of her noble lovers. She was sent to prison, but no one ever came for Kachirou. He spent many days wandering the streets, looking for his mom. Eventually he realized that she was never coming back. So he kept doing what he had been doing, stealing to survive.

He found that he had a natural talent of making friends, and earning peoples trust, even if he was later going to back stab them. He took jobs that worked on this talent, infiltrating and gaining information. With his natural shape changing abilities, it was easy for him to blend in with the human population, to become someone else entirely. He always worked for the money, finding that when he took the highest bidder, he had more than enough money to live. He did make enemies, but it’s always hard to find the master of disguise.

When he turned 16, he received a message. It was from his mother. She explained what happened and that she was sorry, that she was in Branderscar Prison, and had convinced one of the guards to send this message. This infuriated Kachirou, that even though this country proclaimed to be good, they turned his mother out, lead her into a life a crime that caused her to be taken away from him. He decided he had a new goal. To bring down this government. He worked his way back into the nobility, but it wasn’t too long before he bit off more than he could chew. He had set up a plan to take con a large sum of money from one noble, and to pin it on another noble. However he made a mistake, the noble he was going to pin it on had an airtight excuse. He was tried and sentenced to Branderscar Prison, where he finds out that his mother had died in the salt mines just after sending her message. Now more than ever, he wanted revenge on this government, revenge for taking away the life of his mother.

Personality:

Kachirou is a lovable, gentle man. Or at least that’s the face he puts on. In truth, he goes where the money takes him. He keeps on good terms with everyone, so that when the time comes that he may have to turn on them, they aren’t suspecting it. Usually though, that doesn’t happen, and the places he goes friendly greetings and the passing of gossip flourish. Having never known a true friend, he doesn’t even believe they exist, that relationships are all a façade, that everyone has their own agenda. He’s learned not to trust those around them, especially those in the government, no matter what beliefs they espouse.
