I love the idea of Evil Aligned Bards, so that would be my class of choice. Arielle Windsong
Used to the life of luxury her adoptive parents gave her, Arielle was at a loss as to what to do when they died in a boating accident and their oldest son and heir to the family fortune kicked her out of the house and stripped her of her family name and title. Adopting the new surname of Windsong, she discovered that she could make a living for herself off of the singing and music lessons her adoptive had paid for her. Though making a mere living off of whatever coins were thrown her way was in no way enough to return her to the lifestyle she had been used to. She began stealing from the homes of those who invited her in to sing and play for their grand parties and seduced the occasional noble into giving her expensive gifts. Unable to stay in one place for long, lest she be found out, Arielle has found herself in Lastwall after accepting an offer to perform. She thought it would be the last place anyone would look for her after she was nearly caught stealing at her last job. (Are you okay with players taking Alternative Racial Traits?)
To apply to be in this game, post in this thread with the following information: Time Zone: Eastern standard time Number of PbP games you are currently active in: 4 preference for maps (roll20, google docs, etc) google docs your familiarity with the Reign of Winter AP (have you played in one, GMd one or read the books). I won't disallow you based on having been in the campaign before, but i want to know who knows something about it. nothing beyond the player's guide Character concept Dagmar Ragnasdottir
str: 14
Apprenticed at a young age to the Winter Witches of Irrisen due to her innate talents, Dagmar often found herself the object of insults and abuse due to her mixed Ulfen/Irrisen heritage. As a teenager, Dagmar found herself unwilling to tolerate her situation and developed a hatred of other witches (despite being one herself), viewing them all as intolerant and evil. One night, with even the light of the moon covered by heavy clouds, Dagmar fled her school to find a new life. Becoming something of a nomad, she wandered from village to village, looking for a place away from witches and their control.
Interested in the idea, it reminds me of a parlor larp my friend would run. Also a fan of movies that start out that way. :) 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3) = 12
Not bad, I think I will go with this roll. Not sure what class to go with though. I will see what fits with the stats and then decide.
Skylla was born and raised in the Azure District of Sasserine. She was raised alone by her mother after her father perished at sea during a storm. He was a whaler and her mother worked at the Drunken Dolphin. It was the story of the storm that took her father's life that caused Skylla to become fixated on storms and destruction they caused. It is why she eventually sought out the church (such as it was) of Umberlee. As an adult, Skylla went against her mother's wishes and took up the profession of sailing instead of finding a safe landbound job to take. Nothing make her feel more alive than to be at sea in the middle of a storm. When the rest of the crew is huddled below deck, she can be found out in the bow or even up in the crow's nest, just letting the rain cascade down her and watching the lightning light up the skies. Personality - Skylla tends to be tempestuous. She is not very good at taking her time and thinking things through. She'd rather just act on her first impulse and trust her instincts. This isn't to say that she is always short-tempered though. Also, she tends to be rather friendly, at least with other working types. She feels disdain for most nobles and for anyone who can't see the beauty of storms. Appearance - Skylla stands at 5'2", weighs roughly 106 and has the tanned skin of someone who works at sea. Her pale blond hair is straight and reaches down to her waist. There are usually multiple braids in her hair with strands of kelp intertwined with them in the fashion of followers of Umberlee. On her build - Obviously Wisdom will be her highest stat and I plan to give her some skills that go with her life at sea.
After looking over the list of deities of the area, I've decided to go with a Cleric of Umberlee. I'll work up an avatar for her. I see portfolios listed for the Faerun deities, but no Domains. Is there a list I am missing, do I just pick domains similar to the portfolios or are we no using domains?
Female
I also cheer for the Patriots. My husband in from New England and I have adopted his team. Been doing various games for quite some time now (I'm 40). I will play just about anything. Married with two kids.
Kicking around a couple more ideas for Fae-Changelings: Baobhan-sith - Allow her a 1d4 bite attack and cast Daze 3xday as an Su. Bogeyman - Haunted Fey Aspect, Ghost Sound and Dancing Lights. Once a day each as a SU with The DC for these spells being equal to 10 + the spell's level + the changeling's Charisma modifier.
DM wrote: Absolutely lets do it. Any thoughts on substitutions? I will start mulling it over but I'm on the road mobile only today and tomorow I think Leanan Sidhe would be perfect to substitute for a Green Hag. Perhaps use a Nixie or a Nereid instead of a Sea Hag. (Nereid for PCs who want to be medium sided and Nixie is they want to be small sized). I can think up some more, but have to get prepare for my tabletop Shadowrun game this afternoon.
Perhaps you could alter the Changeling race a bit to say that they are born from human / fae relations instead of human / hag relations. I think it would be more thematically appropriate for this game, espcially considering a Grimm's fairy tales background. Given the varied types of fae, you could easily replace each type of hag with one. Click the link Changeling to be directed to a page on them.
Interest Check -- Pathfinder CORE Campaign --Series of Classic Module Conversions (U1-U3, A1-A4, ??)
Expressing interest. Newbie to the game, though I do have some of the books around here somewhere. Likely to go with a University type character. Well-learned since someone will have to translate any sanity-bending texts we find. :) Curious if any Penny Dreadful style creatures will make any appearances? For some reason I am obsessed with stories of Spring Heel Jack.
Surprised a bit by the number of native characters since the opening text specifies that the King formally opened the tombs and burial sites to foreign explorers. I always imagined the party for this AP to be a handful of characters from different lands with at least one native Osirion to be their trusty native guide. :)
Choices 2 and 3 are of the most interest to me. I love old fairy tales and have wanted to play in an underwater campaign for some time now, but the opportunity has never come up. I am not sure how well choice 5 would word, but it does sound interesting enough that I would try it to find out. 4 makes me think too much of Avatar for some reason and the logistics of traveling through air (and the result of falling) would make it too problematic for me to try it, at least at low levels. As for 1, not that interested in trying for a Princess of Mars type game.
Interested in this. I just tested the map thing and was able to move a couple characters around, so I have no problem meeting your prereq's. I am on Eastern Standard time if you curious as to when I would be awake for posting. I am currently thinking of a cleric of some kind since that is my preferred class. I will decide upon an appropriate deity and write up a character to post later today.
